Re: The Simpsons: Tapped Out
I don't know what the Daily Casino Challenge is.
Last night when I went to bed, I had characters working on the casino, the daily challenge, the redwood, and the monorail.
Of course nearly all the metal workers are also in the casino so I'm running really short of metal and those tasks are stacking up. And I know I could just punt the monorail, but I'm a little too anal to do that without really knowing how the casino one is going to shape up. There looks like a ton of stuff to try to earn there so I'm a little concerned. But at least we have characters earning event currency, so that's something.
I have only one character working on the redwood at present, which makes it really slow, but there doesn't appear to be a time limit on it.
Those gamblers look so miserable. I guess that's the game's editorial statement on the gambling life.

What was today's update for?

Re: The Simpsons: Tapped Out
iOS version had a bug where the original update could cause an anonymous players to lose their towns.
I've gotten a bit of use out of the new tool for moving stuff around in groups. Good addition.

This event is pretty funny. The casino looks awesome. I think it's a good idea, the way they're basing events on specific classic episodes. Yeah, we had Whacking Day a while back, but here we have Monorail and Casino mere months apart. It's a good idea.

-Assign tasks in Burns Casino
-Tap strolling gamblers in your and others' towns
-Play Moe's slot machine (you need tokens, which are generated by the above two)
-Play the daily casino challenge (FKA the daily challenge)
-Craft stuff in the Casino Players Club
I bought the Big Texan to help with chips, but I'm two-thirds of the way to the third Act 1 prize so I'm hoping it won't be too hard to get everything. The premium characters in Plato's Republic Casino and Florence of Arabia also do tasks.
The crafting is confusing to me. E.g., the Walk of Fame star says I can get Club Card Points from my first eight units, but it also says I'm maxed out at 4/4. Maybe I need to unlock a tier to get more. But I also bought a tier upgrade that didn't appear to do anything. I guess I need to continue playing and maybe do some research.

Thanks.
Is anyone else having an issue where their poker chip count isn't matching the poker chip count on the prize board?

There's the total poker chip count, and then there's the poker chip count in relation to the next prize you'll earn. The latter starts over at zero when you earn a prize.

I'm going to have to work on the upgrades whether I want to or not since I'm just about out of craftables.

The developers went really out of their way to make the crafting process very confusing on this event. The level tier thing is a piece of shit. Also, there are around 160 characters. Why the fuck do they need to use the same ones for everything?

In their (slight) defense, this is the first time I haven't felt that the Paris Hilton character is as useless as her real-life counterpart.

Red Hood is right and davidh777 is right.
My hunch is that in the past, they limited the characters because not everyone had premium characters or they didn't want to shut out new players by having a lot of higher-level characters involved. But once they started reminding us with the last few events that for a few donuts, we could have this premium character help out with a task, those concerns flew out the window. Give some tasks to everybody, come on!
The main overlap is Springfield Heights, Monorail, and any current event. I suppose not everyone actively tries to do all of those at once, but I sure do, and the crossover is ridiculous.

Re: The Simpsons: Tapped Out
Two quick nitpicks about the casino event, though:
1. The premium characters don't earn more currency than regular characters. Lame.
2. The one-armed bandit process takes waaaaay tooooo looooong.

Re: The Simpsons: Tapped Out
And most of the metal workers are in the casino, so I was maxed out on plastic and glass and using up the metal as fast as I could scrape it up, then they kept giving me more metal tasks.
I still need to sync my workers to make one last metal stash.Sort of tempted to buy Florence of Arabia just because I've always liked the look of it. The riverboat is kind of cool too, but I don't think I'll NEED either to finish the event.
I unlocked the Millhouse skin
Spoiler:
I do like the chip counter in the friends menu so we can see who's still playing. I had started ignoring some of those people--oops, though it doesn't appear to matter for this event.
PS: You'd asked, story, whether you'd been missed during your hiatus from the forum. Your conversation was definitely missed in this thread.

Add me to the list of people that find this event confusing. Well, not sure if confusing, but it seems to hard. I just got the second prize, trying to unlock Millhouse skin now, and I don't think I will get all the prizes.

Re: The Simpsons: Tapped Out
Yeah.. add me to the confused list on this stuff. Its like they went out of their way to make things confusing. And I agree on the same characters doing everything for each thing we can do.
I have the 2nd item and have 7000 chips towards the skin for Milhouse. I've crafted one of everything in the casino crafting. Some things multiple. I have no bars filled towards level 2 and not sure how to do that. I'm level 2 in the players club, close to level 3. 695/1035.
They need to have more characters earn event currency. I think there are 5-6 out of all the ones that people would have access to, even if they don't buy any premium characters.

You need to be crafting the upgrade tiers (the big arrows pointing up). They take a lot of coasters or keychains, but getting to tier 3 is the only way to craft the best stuff.

I need to check to see if I'm on target for the stuff you get by collecting poker chips. I'm about half way to getting the Milhouse outfit now.

I'm at 35575 now, so I'm about a day behind as they state that you need to ear 8434 chips per day.
I wonder if they felt the last couple events like this were too easy? The last ones I seemed to breeze through and was always a couple days ahead of the calendar for the prizes. This one I'm a day or two behind.

Re: The Simpsons: Tapped Out
It wasn't really explained well by the event so I feel I pretty much wasted stuff at this point. The number of keychains and coasters looks to increase to get the next bar each time. First time I needed 50 keychains to upgrade once, now I need 150.
Thats a lot considering they don't drop very often or get awarded when you spin the slot machine. I get, on average, 6-10 coins for the slot machine every 3 hours or however long the task is at the casino for those 6 characters. I usually get a couple coins from randomly tapping the vegas people in my town. It's like its purposely much harder to get the stuff you need to craft anything this time
