This is a permanent expansion. It's going to take several months for people to expand everything unless they use donuts, hacks, or they play 12 hours a day.

Re: The Simpsons: Tapped Out
I'm enjoying the update, but a few thoughts:
-I don't like how some resources need to be built by cannibalizing other resources. It's fine if you play regularly enough to crank out a lot of coffee cups, but it doesn't add up if you're building coffee cups at the same rate as you're building smartphones.
-It favors big buildings by making them so cheap to start, but then you again need to use resources to clear the space, rather than using money.
-I feel like I'm neglecting all my other characters. First I was leaving them open to start Heights tasks, but even now that I have most of the tasks unlocked, it's really easy to accidentally assign them a regular task, like if you're taking a break on Oscars in order to build up another resource. What I've been trying to do is reassign them to a 12-hour task as soon as they finish one in Springfield. I just have to make sure they're not lined up for a Heights task that I'm reasonably close to unlocking.
-I'm not sure what's up with that slacker Otto, but he always wanders off when I assign him to a furniture task, wasting about 10 seconds, then he doesn't line up with the other workers.

How do people get a ton of donuts without buying them?
So many characters seem to be locked with donuts.
I have unlocked all the buildings so far and currently have a value of 78 million.
And yeah, I have spent a lot of time playing this so far.

I mentioned it earlier, but there are also 50 more squidport tiles to make as well.

Is $78 million your cash on hand, or is it the value of all your land, buildings, and cash? And if it's the latter, how do you find that number?

Its the real estate value.
You can either click on the real estate building, or any or the resource buildings in the new area and it will show in the upper right.
You can also see everyone's real estate value on the Springfield Heights Leaderboard (Friends list > Gold Medal)

Re: The Simpsons: Tapped Out
The closest thing I've found to turning cash into donuts is buying bloodmobiles. I think they're good for 125K XP each.
The weird thing about Heights is that it appears to be a nearly completely self-perpetuating experience. The Montessori School seems to be the only thing so far (and maybe it's not really part of Heights but it happened during the same phase so that's where I put it) that produces "real" dollars and XP. Everything else only seems to build and expand Heights. At some point, we'll have purchased all the land and upgraded all the buildings, and then it'll just be a ghost town that we never visit. At least Krustyland still produces XP and the very occasional donut.

Hey guys, I have three friends from my Clash of Clans clan which just joined Tapped Out. They are:
Blackjacki997, Esmeline & Squidd5
Can I get them added to the member list? Also, I send out our DVDTalk roster to them. If you would accept their friend request I'd be greatly appreciative.

Re: The Simpsons: Tapped Out
Two new cash-producing buildings are available!
...for donuts.
Good thing Heights is permanent because it's slow going. I'm regularly adding and upgrading but am still at 79M when the next prize appears to be at 200.
I'm not playing constantly, however. I did store a couple condos that I had maxed out, and I retained the real-estate value so that gained me some space.
Unfortunately the OP is owned by story, who hasn't posted here in quite some time. (I believe he's still tapping, though.) The whole roster might be intimidating so you might suggest they start with those of us who are active in this thread. Unlike Facebook, I accept all friend requests.

Re: The Simpsons: Tapped Out
I'm taking a short break from the new area building for awhile and concentrating on the main area since I still have a ton of stuff to do.
I did notice a glitch with the new area jobs, building the car garage and business complex - when I come back from visiting friends Springfields, a couple times now, it complete a level of the job thinking I had done it, but have not.
Eg, I have completed the Level 5 Car Garage, but my highest actual garage is level 4.
I added a bunch, but if I missed you and/or you want to add me, user name is Music8BB

With regards to the current expansion I'm gonna level up everything to unlock the real estate rewards and then I'm likely gonna inventory most of the buildings with multiples cause they are so ridiculously huge when maxed. The level 5 condo alone takes up most of my iPhone screen lol.

Re: The Simpsons: Tapped Out
It's really slow going for me. THough I play multiple times a day, usually to tap through and restart the various resources going.
I'm at a $12.8mil value.
Unlocked:
LA Body works with Moe, Legs and Bart generating floor mats (19/20 floor mats)
Coffee shop with SVT, CBG, Burns, Lisa, and Grandpa earning coffee cups (2/100 coffee cups)
Furniture Shop with Homer, Krabapple, Ned, and Lovejoy earning chairs (26/100 chairs)
Institute of Technology with Apu, Milhouse, Mayor, Ralph, and Willie earning tablets (55/200 tablets)
John's Pharmaceuticals with Wiggum earning pills. (maxed out at 10 storage now)
I need 30 floor mats to unlock the land to be able to get to the theater.
For buildings I have:
Classic Mansion at level 2
Classic Mansion at level 1
Valet Parking at level 3
Deluxe Condo at level 3
Deluxe Condo at level 3
Business Center at level 1
Business Center at level 1
Modern Mansion at level 1
Deluxe Condo at level 3
It seems that it takes so long to build resources up and it definitely doesn't help that some resources eat up others. The 5 people that I can have build tablets, each time I get them building it kills 5 coffee cups and 10 chairs.
Once I build up some more chairs, I can unlock one more character to build coffee cups.. Then after getting more coffee cups, I can unlock one more character to build more chairs.

I'm at 115M, but I'm playing a lot. I keep the game open, phone plugged in, while I'm working or doing some other stuff. So yeah, I'm really concentrating in these tasks.

Opened the game today and got a quick update. Game then crashed. Crashes every time I open it now.
Another quick update and the game works again.
Now that I'm in, it seems they've switched out Fat Tony for Snake in making mats. I had Fat Tony's slot unlocked. FT can't work there anymore, but he's still connected to the mat icon. It wouldn't go away until I sent FT on one of his regular tasks.

Re: The Simpsons: Tapped Out
For me, the tricky part has been building up the coffee cups. The furniture is so fast that's it's not hard to build up, but the coffee cups at two minutes take too much time for me to sit there and wait, but if I leave for more than a few minutes, I can't produce them enough to stay head of the resources that use them. A close second is the yoga mats. Those take eight minutes, while the pills that consume them take 12, so it's hard to produce enough to not be running in place.
I'm changing my strategy a bit. Rather than plant cheap mansions and stuff, I'm going to try to upgrademy buildings to level 5 then store them. I've dumped two or three condos so far.
I ran into this today and thought I was missing out on producing mats, but fortunately not. I stored Tony and the mat building with no success then googled it. Then after that I got multiple crashes, but things seem to have improved.
