Re: The Simpsons: Tapped Out
I finished money mountain and am working on the quest now. The Burns skin is just a skin, but it gives out a lot of XP.
Visiting about half my neighbors every day. Yesterday I made the big shift to putting everyone on 24-hour tasks, but then backed down to 12 today to sync with the mountain quest.
I bought the Aztec Theater from Gil, basically so SVT would have a four-hour task.

New level update! Be sure to have Lisa (and maybe also Marge?) free.
There is also a one shot quest for Lenny, Karl, Chief Wiggum, Barney, and Moe if you have the Black Box bar.
I love that they added "Homer's Ballet" to the store. When you tap on it he sings the circus music. That sequence is one of my all-time favorite Simpsons moments (I, too, enjoy all the meats of our cultural stew) and never get tired of hearing him sing that.

(I hate how most Simpsons clips on YouTube are either the foreign versions or videos of the TV shot on phones. This should be why YT exists! Stupid Fox lawyers.)

I found out that the Powers car can be gotten onto a road. You need to remove some road. Place the car down where the road was. Then rebuild the road.
This may get fixed later. The jet engine bike could be placed on parking lots and other stuff for a while. The car should stay on the road if they fix it, but you wouldn't be able to replicate it again if you move the car or road.

New soccer-themed event is live via an app store update. Make sure Bart and Lisa are free to, ahem, kick it off. (Unfortunately, I have them tied up for another hour and a half.)
And according to TSTO Addicts, this adds more land.

According to tstogame.com, the event is very obtuse and complicated. There is an announcement there that they will be switching focus to something else. They'll still update some stuff about the game, but won't be doing anything in-depth.

As an FYI, KBBL, Fit Milhouse, and Gorgeous Grampa all have event-currency generating tasks.
Also, there appears to be some rounding issues in terms of the donut cost of upgrading a player, which means that when you still need X tickets to upgrade a player, the rushing cost will round down to zero. I'm not sure what X is, but it's worth checking on what it costs to rush a player -- you should be able to save a significant number of tickets over the life of the event.

Re: The Simpsons: Tapped Out
yes. thanks for the tip JasonF. I think you need more than 1/2 the amount of tickets to get the 0 donut for the rush upgrade. Thank you and I hope they don't fix this for awhile.

Re: The Simpsons: Tapped Out
I just did the math.... (don't act surprised).
I *think* I’ve figured out the zero-donut deal figured out! Each donut seems to be worth 15 Amateur Bucks, but the cost to “rush” is apparently rounded DOWN, not up. So if you are needing 14 or fewer AB to upgrade, the cost ends up being zero.
Need 0-14 = 0 Donuts
Need 15-29 = 1 Donut
Need 30-44 = 2 Donuts
Need 45-59 = 3 Donuts
Etc.
The math also seems to hold when looking to purchase items from the Amateur Shop. A six-pack of Obesotade is 600 ABs, which costs 40 Donuts to rush (600/15=40). But with 2 ABs in the bank, I need only 598 ABs, and the Donut cost is now showing as 39 … 598/15 = 39.9, which the game rounds down to 39.
So, the 1 Donut = 15 AB conversion rate seems correct, but it's the rounding down that makes 0 Donut purchases possible.

I also read online (and confirmed in-game) that during these early days, where your TapBall players have relatively low ratings, that you will earn more ABs by losing to a 5.0-Star player than by beating a 2-star player. Here's the math (courtesy TSTOAddicts):
You get this, based on your result...
Win: 10 ABs + 60 Foam Fingers (FFs)
Tie: 5 ABs + 40 FFs
Loss: 2 ABs + 30 FFs
...and you get this bonus, based on the rating of your opponent...
0.5 Star = 2 ABs + 10 FFs
1.0 Star = 4 ABs + 20 FFs
1.5 Star = 6 ABs + 25 FFs
2.0 Star = 8 ABs + 30 FFs
2.5 Star = 10 ABs + 35 FFs
3.0 Star = 12 ABs + 40 FFs
3.5 Star = 14 ABs + 45 FFs
4.0 Star = 16 ABs + 50 FFs
4.5 Star = 18 ABs + 55 FFs
5.0 Star = 20 ABs + 60 FFs
Both are added together.
Beating a 2-Star opponent yields you 10 ABs (for the win) plus 8 bonus ABs (for the 2-Star opponent) for a total of 18 ABs. Losing to a 5.0-Star opponent yield you 2 + 20 = 22 ABs. In fact, the 22 ABs that you're guaranteed just for taking the field against a 5.0-Star opponent is as many ABs as you can earn for beating a 3-Star opponent. The only time it pays to actually WIN is if you can consistently beat a 3.5-Star (or higher) opponent, which you can do if you are at the 4-Star level OR if you have power-up tonic stockpiled.
The optimal strategy for stockpiling ABs seems to be:
* If your level is at or below 3.0 Stars = Lose to 5.0-Star Opponents (22 ABs guaranteed)
* If your level is 3.5 and you don't have tonic = Lose to 5.0-Star Opponents (22 ABs guaranteed)
* If your level is 3.5 and you DO have tonic = Beat 3.5-Star Opponents (24 ABs if you win)
* If your level is 4.0 or higher = Play/beat Opponents 0.5 Stars below your level, or play/beat Opponents AT your level if you also have tonic.
There is NO BENEFIT from playing against a 3.0-Star or lower opponent, because even if you win you will always get fewer ABs than just losing to a 5.0-Star.
Here's the order of preference:
Beat 5.0-Star = 30 ABs (You: 5.0-Star with tonic)
Beat 4.5-Star = 28 ABs (You: 5.0-Star or 4.5-Star with tonic)
Beat 4.0-Star = 26 ABs (You: 4.5-Star or 4.0-Star with tonic)
Beat 3.5-Star = 24 ABs (You: 4.0-Star or 3.5-Star with tonic)
Lose to 5.0-Star = 22 ABs (You: Anything else)
Remember, this strategy is only designed to maximize the rate of earning ABs. This *will* trash your win-loss percentage, and while I don't think the game has any prizes in store for us based on that stat, there's always a chance that I may be wrong.

Re: The Simpsons: Tapped Out
Speaking personally, I've already wasted tonic trying to secure victory against opponents ranked as low as me. Not any more, I'm going to lose to as many 5-Star players as I can find and stockpile tonic for later when I'm at the 5-Star level and am playing against another 5-Star opponent. My own strategy will be:
Me: 5.0-Star with tonic = Beat 5.0-Star Opponent (30 ABs)
Me: 5.0-Star w/o tonic = Beat 4.5-Star Opponent (28 ABs)
Me: 4.5-Star = Beat 4.0-Star Opponent (26 ABs)
Me: 4.0-Star = Beat 3.5-Star Opponent (24 ABs)
Me: 3.5-Star or lower = Lose to 5.0-Star Opponent (22 ABs)
Also, I will seek out neighbors and play them rather than play a random opponent. I don't believe there's any bonus for playing a random mystery opponent, and those neighbors that I play will earn ABs for my visits, just as I hope that my neighbors will play me.

Re: The Simpsons: Tapped Out
A bunch of people are having the game crash at the loading screen. I've read that it may be related to the Lady Duff quest.
If you were planning to get Lady Duff, you might want to hold off. If you already have Lady Duff, don't do the quest. If it is already too late and you are crashing, try playing the game on BlueStacks until EA gets the problem fixed. At that point, progressing in the quest could possibly get you past the problem and allow your normal device to load. Or make it worse.
I got an in-game update that seems to have fixed the crashing problem.
Spoiler:

I took a break from the game, since I was on vacation, and I'm not sure if I want to participate in this event. Most comments I've read online are negative. And maybe I'm too late to start...

Honestly, I'm not terribly jazzed about it, but I have nothing better to do, so...
At least with Act I, the prizes aren't all that great. The only thing that I want is Burns' basesball skin, since it's from an iconic episode. But even then I don't know how often I'd use it.
But I will give them a nod for recognizing that the daily task timer from the Terwilliger event was terrible. They went back to it being 24 hours from when you start the task, not the fixed one starting at midnight. And you can have several residents do them at once for some jobs, which knocks them out relatively quickly. That aspect isn't so much of a slog anymore.
