Good news, not only do the Kinect voice commands work, they're working for me inside of my component cabinet with the door shut. This might actually have a functional use for me!

Went to the Microsoft Store "pre-opening" event tonight here in Jacksonville FL and got to spend a little Xbox One time, pretty sweet system though several games look more like a lateral move than a step up (Killer Instinct especially comes to mind) and the controller is a wee bit uncomfortable to me (it seems smaller) but overall a really solid system thus far. The special for the night was a guaranteed Xbox One for tomorrow morning if you pre-ordered tonight, and a $25 gift card for everybody that showed up (and tickets to the Macklemore/Ryan Lewis shindig they're throwing on Saturday)

I went to FSU for college so it was cool to hang out with Bobby Bowden for a bit. Store seems nice, the only thing that upstaged the Xbox One for me was the 3D Printer they had running in middle of the store.

And goddamn if I didn't drink entirely too much, god bless you Microsoft and your open bar.

Not even close to my first George Costanza comparison, and I have all my hair and perfect vision, so you might be onto something there. But yes : my soft, delicate tiny girlish hands are bothered by the ridge in the circle part of the thumbsticks.

I was navigating the new store. I can't figure out how to redeem a code (that's not a Kinect-enabled barcode one), or how to access my download list. There's nothing like "My Account" that I have found yet. In case anyone else was wondering : No, grabbing the web version of KI did NOT enable you to get the extra characters for free. I also don't see any way to upgrade from the $20 package to the $40 one, so choose carefully. My son keeps begging me to buy the dragon game. When I tell him it got bad reviews, he keeps countering that "It's one of the Highest Rated games in the store!". If there's a demo, I haven't found it yet. Looks like they have a IAP model for that game, selling bags of gems or some such crap.

This launch stream feels a lot like the New Year's Eve shows. So far a lot less awkward and looks like they went all out...but no real info we didn't already know.

Still cool to see them finally celebrate and transform NYC into a bright green Xbox zone :)

Man, top gamerscore guy is getting a ton of screentime on this show. They also gave him a lifetime Gold membership card and a special edition white Xbox One with games.

Hopefully those will help make up for his obvious mental disorder.

Woops. I guess I ordered dead rising 3 from TRU during that coupon thing that worked on preorders. I also ordered from amazon. Funny thing is that I won't get the TRU copy until next week. Gee, thanks TRU. Glad you are making sure you are getting those preorders out in a timely fashion.

The PS4 stream was awkward but this one is boring. At my age I could give a flying fuck about these performers. I just was trailers and behind the scene stuff about naming the system and the games.

You can have a high gamerscore (or, well, the highest gamerscore) without avoiding games that you can't get 100% on. In fact, I would say that you'd have to play some games you won't get 100% on to get such a high gamerscore.
