Re: Xbox One Pre-Release Thread: Upscaled to 1080p! (11/22/2013)
I'm glad Forza 5 doesn't seem like it will be anything special, since my Fanatec setup won't work on the Xbox One, so it won't tempt me to buy another wheel (if a good one even comes out). The stands packed with crowds looked pretty cool though. Hard to say with such a high level of compression in the youtube video though.
Doesn't seem like they've improved on the sound at all. That's always been one of their weak spots. The Ariel sounded like someone was kicking a box full of mud when shifting. |

Yes, the Xbox One can play CDs and will support DLNA streaming Further, while the XO won't specifically play MP3s from the XO's own hard drive (allegedly), it can play them from "Play To" enabled devices, and also if they're part of your Xbox Music library. |
Re: Xbox One Pre-Release Thread: Upscaled to 1080p! (11/22/2013)
The weirdest thing about this whole DLNA thing is that it's a Sony founded guideline. Sony is why it exists in the first place.

Re: Xbox One Pre-Release Thread: Upscaled to 1080p! (11/22/2013)
And here's Polygon to dash everyone's minor hopes.
While Xbox One supports audio CD playback, it does not support CD ripping, a spokesperson said, a feature of the Xbox 360. It also doesn't support MP3 or AAC playback from devices like the iPod, iPhone, Zune or Windows Phone over USB. A statement notes that Xbox Music, which carries a $9.99 monthly subscription, will deliver "unlimited ad-free music through a Xbox Music Pass subscription" on Xbox One. |

here's the difference between B4 on Xbox 360 and Xbox One as well as PS3 and PS4. Pretty significant difference, IMHO.

Re: Xbox One Pre-Release Thread: Upscaled to 1080p! (11/22/2013)
I wouldn't want to use a console to rip CDs anyway. You don't have as much (or any) control over bitrates, so you aren't able to use VBR for optimal quality per file size. And for game soundtracks, I like to modify the volume level in Audacity to deal with variable loudness between different CDs.

Kinda surprised you can't plug in a Zune filled with music.

Not sure if anyone cares, but here's CoD on Xbox One. Looks like shit. Not because of the X1 or anything, just looks terrible. Especially after seeing Battlefield. Can't wait for this series to die...

Maybe he means gameplay and not the graphics?

Re: Xbox One Pre-Release Thread: Upscaled to 1080p! (11/22/2013)
Graphics look good and I only want them to not screw up the formula. I have enjoyed the hell out of every CoD and simply want another one with new maps to learn to keep me busy till Titanfall at least.
Battlefield games (Bad Company 2 in particular) are fun but they rely so much on teamwork that I found myself not playing it as much because of schedules with friends not meshing. CoD relies a little less on teamwork so I could play by my lonesome and still have a good/fun online game. Which meant it got significantly more playtime from me. |

I still think the original Zune was a beautiful device. Loved the textured feel of it.

Re: Xbox One Pre-Release Thread: Upscaled to 1080p! (11/22/2013)
Played Forza 5 at my local Best Buy. Fun, but I prefer NFS and Burnout style games. I'll probably skip Forza entirely. The controller felt good. Light, but there were no batteries in it. The knobs were a little worn; I like how they feel, but I can see how easily they can be damaged. Console looks smaller in real life.
They had 40 pre-order cards they were giving away. It sounded like they had 40 per day to hand out. Clearly MS is building a ton of these... that could be good or bad. |
Re: Xbox One Pre-Release Thread: Upscaled to 1080p! (11/22/2013)
how could it be bad? If it doesn't sell?
|
Re: Xbox One Pre-Release Thread: Upscaled to 1080p! (11/22/2013)
Yeah, in the same way that mountains of PS3's gave a bad impression. :)
To be clear, I said pre-order cards, but they're actually "day one guarantee" cards. So, if one store can hand out 40 a day... They have high confidence in having enough units. I didn't even have to give a $5, an email address, or anything. |
Re: Xbox One Pre-Release Thread: Upscaled to 1080p! (11/22/2013)
Just a reminder...we're seeing first gen games on the Next Gen consoles compared to games Devs have had seven years to get the most out of the current gen consoles. In a year or two will be the real difference maker. Both consoles will be night & day over the current ones then.
|
Re: Xbox One Pre-Release Thread: Upscaled to 1080p! (11/22/2013)
Well, just judging the Battlefield comparison it's already a night and day difference. The difference between 360 and One is instantly noticeable. Therefore, excitement. The difference between One and PS4 is negligible (to my eyes anyway). Therefore, indifference.
