I didn't even bother reading the two new console threads due to the bickering that was going on. If that kind of petty shit was nipped early, then it wouldn't have gotten out of hand. People can have very constructive discussions with disagreeing viewpoints - but when it starts getting grade school, no one wins.

Jillian is a hall of fame member in the Sarah Jessica Parker club.

If it works as advertised, I think Xbox Fitness may be a game changer and push Microsoft more towards being the victor in the next-generation.
Yeah, I might like going to the gym to do my workouts. However, people like my wife are already excited we're adding an Xbox One to the house based upon the concept alone. She loved her fitness games on the Wii (like EA Sports Active and its sequel) and this does look like the next evolution. Sony might be doing a great job appealing towards hardcore gamers, but they haven't been doing a great job at appealing towards the casual user. Between what we've seen in the past few weeks with the NFL and now this, I'm fucking stoked. |
re: Xbox One Pre-Release Thread: Upscaled to 1080p! (11/22/2013)
I wonder if Ubisoft and some of the other third party developers who made fitness games are thinking about this dropping for free.

re: Xbox One Pre-Release Thread: Upscaled to 1080p! (11/22/2013)
It definitely could strike up some interest from the casual crowd that bought a Wii, if it turns out to be good and more accurate then the Wii Fit. Or people could reason they have a Wii that does nothing and this will be more of the same.
Heck, I'd probably give it a shot for some insanity type workouts. |
re: Xbox One Pre-Release Thread: Upscaled to 1080p! (11/22/2013)
Kinect response has been horrible with the exercise games I've used in the past so I don't expect much more with this, but if it's a subscription service that includes some of those Beach Body videos with a score keeper of sorts, then that's great. Insanity is a good workout program.

What the subscription based service looks like after the fact is anyone's guess. |

I thought the Your Shape Fitness game did well, the limited amount of time I tried it... ;)
Definitely a step up from the Xbox version. |

Yeah, I had the Your Shape games and wasn't very impressed with the Kinect setup.

re: Xbox One Pre-Release Thread: Upscaled to 1080p! (11/22/2013)
We had one of the Your Shape and it worked reasonably well.
We had some tracking issues with things like floor work (push-ups in particular) where it wouldn't see all the way down and missed counting some. We also have it in our basement with a low ceiling so jumping stuff is trickier. The new viewing angles on the new Kinect (or the claimed ones at least) give me more hope. |

I had the EA Fitness one and tracking was horrible.

Multi-city demo of the Xbox One leading up to launch. It'll be in my city at a Jaguars game. So 50 people will get to see it. |

I resent that, it'll be 125, tops.

Naw, he's talking about the homeless people trying to sell parking spots for the people who want to get shot downtown.
But leave it to Microsoft to miss a giant opportunity - University of Florida vs Georgia Bulldogs game is at the end of October, so it's within range, and a majority of the people there are in their target demo (young males, and, well, drunk ladies). And will have about 7 billion times the turn out of a Jags game. |

I'm not sure I've seen any Jaguar play a single down this season, so what else would the be doing?

It looks like the tour will be in Miami on October 2nd at a bunch of stops, so we should be getting some interesting impressions by next week.

It'll be in Vegas for the duration of the SEMA convention.
In one regard, that's brilliant marketing. In the other regard, congratulations Microsoft, you alienated the population that could give two shits about Forza 5. |
re: Xbox One Pre-Release Thread: Upscaled to 1080p! (11/22/2013)
Had to search for SEMA to see what the hell it was, Bing showed me a ton of hot car babes. Win.

Some more Game DVR stuff.
Xbox One DVR features will let you record video commentary for game clips http://www.polygon.com/2013/9/30/478...ntary-for-game |
