Mod Note: Chess, why don't you take a break from this thread? I've gotten a lot of complaints and at this point it looks like all you're doing is taking potshots.

People actually complain to the mods? I don't know why I find that weird.

As much as I support Indie gaming, most of them are games I can play on my Laptop with an HDMI cable, often far cheaper than XBLA/PSN prices.

I like indie games too. Just highlighting the ridiculousness of narrow viewpoints.

Because Jesus titty fucking Christ, they should learn to take a joke.

I don't even complain about blatant stuff like this.

Taking break as requested, because I'm the jerk.

I know I didn't complain. If anything, I thought your feeble attempts at humor were cute ;)

I wasn't one that complained to the mods either, but you can't be serious with that comment given how butt hurt you get too when people joke back at your expense while you make them all the time.

I haven't done any complaining to mods either; all my responses to obvious trolling have been visible in the thread. So if it's non-participating readers who are complaining about the behavior...well, that should tell you something right there.

I think that was an unreasonable expectation. Especially when you have a game like Battlefield 4 which, on PC, requires a quad core processor with 8gb of ram and 3gb of graphic memory on a GTX 660 to max out.

Not just max out, just recommended by DICE. To get ultimate performance, most would want an unlocked quad-core i7 or eight-core AMD processor alongside more memory (it looks like the game will be 64-bit, which is a talking point that nobody's mentioning) and the best graphics card money can buy.

However, I've mentioned this for years. For a true upgrade, we should've been able to get hardware that can push 1920x1080 and 60 FPS from this generation with no problem and it looks like neither console will be able to deliver that on a consistent basis. Not yet, anyway.

No complaints here either. I like chess and don't mind reading his bias. People take this shit way too seriously. It's just video games for Christ's sake.

I agree, I really wish both companies went with a more powerful GPU. Originally I was hoping/thinking they were going to go with an APU like they went with, plus a discrete GPU, that would of been great, they could of used the GPU in the APU for doing all the dashboard stuff, and then the GPU solely for the game. Of course, now if a game is in 3D that's going to be a even bigger sacrifice to pull it off.

Although, even if they did go with a more powerful GPU, not every game would be in 1080p, no matter what, they'll always be balancing between resolution and quality.

serious question: what does it tell you?

It tells me that the people coming here for information are turned off by lame jokes and constant bickering, so they don't bother participating.

That goes both ways though, as when it's a giant circle jerk where nothing is called to task, people don't join in for fear of being singled out as trolling if they suggest even the slightest negativity.

Supermallet 09-18-13 06:39 AM

re: Xbox One Pre-Release Thread: Upscaled to 1080p! (11/22/2013)

There is a difference between pointing out negatives, which pretty much everyone here is capable of doing, and many have, and constant attacks on a system that you're not interested in and not going to get. I think Groucho and I have kept a very light hand on this forum, but it felt like actual discussion was being impeded.

Now, to that point, let us get back to the actual discussion of the Xbox One. Thank you.

I don't feel chess was trolling at all, and I am in the 360 camp who will eventually get a Xbox One. It just happens there is a lot of negative to talk about with the new system if people are honest about it.

Finally!

The thread doesn't have to be sunshine and rainbows with regards to the XO.

But there's no point to someone constantly posting in a thread who has an obvious hate for XBOX and MS and posts only to make fun of the XO (and the occasional link to information just to try and justify his existence here).

Pfft. Screw Microsoft and the Xbox One.

Here's a news article that says Titanfall at TGS is actually the PC version which makes you wonder about the demo running at the Gamestop Gamers thing. Bitch.

http://segmentnext.com/2013/09/18/xb...ll-pc-version/

Yeah I guess that doesn't really work. Apparently Microsoft will have 8 games playable at TGS, not all on actual Xbox One hardware. That does give me the warm and fuzzies that the PC version will turn out well though.

FIFA 14, Kinect Sports Rivals, Crimson Dragon, Forza 5, Ryse, Max: The Curse of Brotherhood, Killer Instinct, and Titanfall are their playable titles. I can't for the life of me figure out why they wouldn't have a game like Dead Rising there, though I guess the potential Cero Z rating could play part.

Of course, most write-ups on TGS seem to focus more on games like Kiss of Revenge than the new consoles

Whatever happened to Sunset Overdrive? I thought it was originally announced as a launch title, but I haven't heard much about it since then. It was one of the titles I was really excited about.

re: Xbox One Pre-Release Thread: Upscaled to 1080p! (11/22/2013)

I don't think Sunset Overdrive was ever a launch title, it's still a far off TBA title.

Having an Insomniac Games game at launch would have been huge for Microsoft (we'll ignore Fuse, everyone else did.)

Yeah, they announced it at E3, but I guess you're right. Not for launch. :(

Also, I was hoping for more info on D4, but again... not much has been said.

 No idea how I missed that one.
I can't wait to hear what people think of it. Didn't the developer say it was built for Kinect, or is my memory as bad as my wife thinks it is?

Never a launch title, just one of the exclusives, like Quantum Break.

2014 will have some interesting exclusives, for both systems. The launch lineup is, well... typical.

Had Sunset Overdrive and Quantum Break been launch titles, I would have had a much tougher decision on which console to get.

I'm excited for Max: Curse of the Brotherhood though. Is that this fall?
