FWIW, MS & Google aren't exactly getting along at the moment over YouTube for Windows Phones (for whatever reason) so YouTube integration on X1 in 2014 might be on the back burner for Google. Admittedly, this is pure speculation on my part though.

I would think comparing phone intergration of a service to a gaming or pc device would be comparing apples to oranges.

How so? Two tech titans in a pissing match over one device will magically work things out over another device while maintaining the grudge match over the original device? Not sure how that's apples and oranges.

I just switched to a Windows phone so I hope they work their shit out. MS + Google getting along is good for everyone.

Spoken like someone who's never tried to open a Flash-enabled website on an iPad.

Incorrect. I have that same issue with Android on my smartphone.

No issues with youtube on Windows OS. The X1 is more like a PC than a phone. Plus isn't Internet Explorer on X1?

Apparently the day one firmware download won't be too bad.

"We are optimizing Xbox One so that the day one update is as fast as possible," Whitten said. "While we're still finalizing the details, we expect that the download will take between 15 and 20 minutes for most users."

I can't remember how long the Wii U update took, but it sure felt long. Really long.

Raul3 10-01-13 02:18 PM

15-20 minutes and that's optimizing?

I hope I'm close to a good server.

I remember it being over an hour.

Yeah the Wii U update took me a couple hours. Then again, this was Nintendo's first big online challenge. Microsoft has some cloud thing. We might be okay. Plus, if sales are as dismal as everyone on the internet says they'll be, me and the 3 of you also getting a One should have no problems.

Oh, didn't you hear? All of us cancelled our pre-orders. You're the only silly One buyer now.

Yeah, I might like going to the gym to do my workouts. However, people like my wife are already excited we're adding an Xbox One to the house based upon the concept alone. She loved her fitness games on the Wii (like EA Sports Active and its sequel) and this does look like the next evolution.

Sony might be doing a great job appealing towards hardcore gamers, but they haven't been doing a great job at appealing towards the casual user. Between what we've seen in the past few weeks with the NFL and now this, I'm fucking stoked.

Pretty smart of them to pair up with Beach Body. Those people can sell ice to an Eskimo. I am not a BB zombie like many but I have a ton of their programs at home and have completed all of them more times that I can count. With Shaun T & Tony there, I wonder if Chalene feels left out?

I agree with the other posters saying that they have to fix the tracking issues for it to be popular. I tried several of the exercise programs on the old Kinect and they all sucked, especially when comparing them to just doing a regular BB video.

No cancel here.

But only because I want the achievement. ;)

You're out of your mind if you think that the Kinect fitness game will move the needle even a tiny bit. The Kinect Your Shape Fitness games sold 1.24 and 0.98M copies worldwide despite there being over 24 Million Kinects sold -- at the height of the Motion Control craze (for comparison, the new Your Shape 2013 version for the Wii U sold 0.03M units worldwide). Put together, that's barely as many units sold as Disneyland Kinect Adventures. People just aren't into buying games for fitness programs. How could you possibly even dream that a fitness game would prompt someone to buy a $500 new gaming console over a $400 competitor?

Demo the tech on The Biggest Loser, Jillian's show. If it works as intended... boom. Sales.

Now it won't do Wii Fit-like numbers or anything crazy like that. But if they pimp it in the right places and it actually functions? People will buy.

Microsoft to unlock more GPU power for Xbox One developers

Long, tech-centric article. Basically, there's a pinch more power available.

That article is way too technical. Can you provide an animated GIF that sums it up for me?

Note: The GPU is no more powerful than it's original specs, it's just that a portion of it that was reserved for Kinect is going to be "unleashed" at some point in the future.
