I'm taking off the 15th through the 24th. Mostly 'cause I have time I have to use or lose, largely 'cause my birthday's in the middle of that, but yeah, the Xbox One and PS4 (and my Wii U!) are definite considerations there.

I'm off both launch days as well.

Yeah, I took them to make sure I didn't lose any time as I can only roll over 40 hours to next year. :rock2:

Lol @ taking a vacation to play the new consoles. You guys must not be married or have kids or both.

Your logic is completely backwards. Married people with kids can't take vacation from their families. They can, however, take vacation from work which will continue to pay them during their absence.

People without spouses and children would just play when they aren't working.

Dumb post was dumb.

I have one of those job things that rewards employees with paid time off as a benefit. So I use said benefit however I see fit.

Yep. Married. Two daughters 7 and 14.

Unfortunately my wife works from home. ;)

Actually I'm married and have two kids. And a month's worth of vacation days every year. So yeah, like others have said, benefit of having a good job.

I'm married with zero kids. I'm taking a three-day weekend for both launches.

Oh, and to update the thread with some news, the Turtle Beach XO Four and Seven headsets will not be released until Q1 2014 now:

http://www.turtlebeach.com/forum/vie...hp?f=7&t=11029

Based upon that news, we won't see the Polk 4 Shot until a similar date either now.

I'm married with 3 kids, but my wife doesn't work and my kids are age 4 and under. So if I took the day off, I would get paid, but I wouldn't have any time to play games. I have more free time when I'm at work than I do when I'm at home.

That's obnoxious. Borderline tv pop up advertising obnoxious. The animation itself isn't bad, but animated achievements seem like they would be distracting.

Lol of course you would hate an aspect of the X1 that actually looks pretty awesome. My only complaint is that it looks like it may be onscreen a bit longer than current notifications. Other than that, looks really good...especially the animation at the end when it disappears.

Bad news if you're not into the stock headset:

Turtle Beach has announced in a press release that Microsoft will not have a chat adapter for game audio-focused headsets ready until next year. Additionally, Turtle Beach's own Xbox One headsets (the XO Four and XO Seven) won't make launch. They, too, are slated for first quarter of 2014, and will include the adapter (though it isn't clear if the new models will work without it).

Let me hide my shocked reaction that you love it. Looks as egregious as:

How long before MS blesses us with animated popup ads(like Alice above) for Doritos and Mtn. Dew during games?

I definitely do not "love" it but I'm not so amazingly biased to dismiss it as being horrific. Seriously, if your $400 indie game player trophy notifications looked as slick as this animation, you would bust a nut all over your monitor and chess (sorry chess)

:)

"not so amazingly biased" rotfl best laugh of the day, thanks.

Reading comprehension, FTW? I said I liked the animation itself, but seems like overkill during a game. Is that not a valid stance to take?

How about selective reading? You just can't get it through your head that I love the xbox brand. I just agree with little MS has done in 2013 in regards to X1. The X180 more closely resembles the console I wanted but I still don't want/need Kinect and I'm tired of paying for ads. I've also stated I'm down for a slim, Halo edition or at a price drop in the future. But carry on with your labels, it's flattering you care so much. Would it help if I had an "I LOVE X1" avatar?

Definitely not. Just remove that part completely and add the cool animation to the text that displays before it.

Agreed, the rest is fine and I like the animation. Definitely stays on screen for too long.
