Re: Bungie - Destiny
Why even allow user reviews on a site like Metacritic? I thought the whole point was to amass the actual professional critic reviews. If I want to know what a bunch of 15 year old trolls think I'd go to IGN.

Go back and look at the Patch Notes on the link I posted a few pages back. They did some buffing on some of the Rifles but actually made the Hand Cannon better. I even bought a Green Level 8 Hand Cannon for my Hunter last night even though he's a Level 6 so to have it later. The accuracy is quite surprising and the damage (impact) is second to none including snipers. I'd make sure you have on in your loadout.

Re: Bungie - Destiny
I think they have higher visibility with Destiny due to the high profile of the title and the lack of critic reviews.

Thanks. I got with a fireteam of randoms and none of us, admittingly, aren't great at FPS's. 20 minutes of plugging away from downfield got us nowhere. Thanks again.
I will say this about how Bungie has incorporated all your character(s) information to their site...it's outstanding what they've done. It's more than you get within the game in terms of details |
Re: Bungie - Destiny
It's a Bungie game, so the pistol is obviously going to be overpowered. I just hope they don't patch it later. I use the hand canon most of the time. I got a 9 shot with 70 something damage, and if I aim right can take out 4 or 5 guys before reloading.

The PVP crucible matches are horrendous. How is it fair to have Lvl 21 players with awesome guns and gear go against Lvl 5 guys that are just starting out? So stupid. Worst multiplayer experience I've ever had.
It's still a bit unfair to have high ranks and low ranks like that, but it's not quite the squash matchups it would be if someone had 500 HP versus someone with 125. Basically for PvP, don't look at the rank value of your weapons. Instead, look at the magazine, look at weapon upgrades, which I believe are in tact, and armor with upgrades such as cooldown improvements. You will probably want a PvP layout of weapons, and another for everything else. Get a vault if necessary. |

Re: Bungie - Destiny
Like others, I suppose my main gripe is the lack of good drops, but I'm still enjoying it.
I started as a hunter but switched over to a Titan today. Being a Hunter during a Strike is a massive PITA. I was playing with randoms the other day and must have been revived 30 times. Plus, it turns out I find it much more enjoyable to run around and punch people in the face (before anyone asks, I'm not a former Baltimore Raven's player). |
Re: Bungie - Destiny
My Destiny Bundle did not arrive today even though it's in the city. I sent Amazon an email. I'm paying for PRIME, so they need to stop fucking around. It'll probably be here in the morning, though.
I spoke to soon, Slop101, ;) |
Re: Bungie - Destiny
OK, so I've reached Level 20 with my Warlock. And as it has been said, everything changes when you get to Level 20.
XP is almost worthless after getting to 20. Ranking up beyond that is done by upgrading your armor to pieces that have the Light attribute. Then you have the collection of Vanguard and Crucible Marks. Crucible marks are fairly easy to max out. You get 3 for winning crucible matches, and 2 for losses. So you'll get the max 100 in 50 matches or less. Vanguard marks are going to be FAR FAR worse. For those, you have to do Strikes. Not the ones on the various world maps, but the ones in a separate section of the map that unlocks when you get to Level 18. Now that wouldn't be so bad, but you only get 2, 3 or 6 marks per strike! Seriously? Spend over an hour possibly killing shit and you get 2 or 3 marks? I did see there was a daily mission that gave 5 Vanguard marks, but still. Maxing out those in a week could be very tough. They really need to balance this. There will be tons of people with Crucible gear in a few weeks. Vanguard gear will probably be far more rare. It was nice to go back to earth and slaughter those Rank 20 enemies they put on the map in the Beta. I've been wanting to do that for months! And I still need to finish the story. I've unlocked Venus, but not Mars. |
Re: Bungie - Destiny
Maybe the point is to make the Vanguard gear very rare?

Re: Bungie - Destiny
King, how do you like the Warlock class at 20? Pve and pvp? Did you try Sunsinger? How bout a little class summary? :D
Thanks |

Thanks But there's some good stuff as you get up there. I love the third unlock for jumping as you go much faster, and can cover a lot of ground. There's also an upgrade for your speed, which always comes in handy in PvP. I'm still playing around with my grenade options, not sure which one is best. I do like the Nova Bomb upgrade that splits it into three. I just had a few good runs playing Salvage (which just got added to PvP for the weekend) and liked my loadout for the most part. |
Re: Bungie - Destiny
Not sure if it's already been discussed, but you have to play one of the current Crucible matches before the next one unlocks. I guess that's why I haven't unlocked the last one yet, because I haven't played a match from the free for all match yet.

Re: Bungie - Destiny
Haven't had a lot of time to play, I'm only up to level 4. And I still had to do some grinding to get to that - does not bode well...

Re: Bungie - Destiny
Had a couple of moments in game last night that reminded me why this game hooked me so well in the alpha and beta. I love the Strike Missions, and I had a pretty good last run in Devil's Lair with Buzz...even though he leveled his character when Kanjji and I weren't online instead of leveling his other characters (Boooooo!) ;)
The random events are kind of magic. The spider tank one is pretty good, but the mining one is awesome. Last night we had probably 3 full squads in the mining event, and there's a little bit of travel required to get to the points. It was awesome seeing all of the rocket bikes tearing off for the next objective like a little squadron of whoopass. |

The problem with the second subclass is that you have to start from scratch again at Level 15. You don't get to reassign all your unlocks, so by Level 20 you'd have the same amount of stuff unlocked as you did at Level 5 for the original.
|
Re: Bungie - Destiny
I don't think there is as much "grinding" as people are saying. I'm already at Lvl 18 and I only just unlocked Venus. The only mission I repeated was the earth raid a few times, but I find it kinda fun. Getting to Level 20 really doesn't seem to be taking much effort at all. My only gripe so far is that the mission objectives seem to take you back and forth across the map for no reason. "Go across the map and activate this item, now go back where you started and enter the cave/temple/building ". I hate that kinda crap, but that seems to be the norm in games like this.

After you left we stuck around in The Tower trying to figure out why her ship & ghost wasn't there but she ended up finding them some how so we're all set...new ship, new bike and new ghost. I ended up breaking down and buying the Green Level 12 Snipe Rifle. The Green one I'm using now is a Level 4 and wearing thin. I absolutely love the Green Level 10 Hand Cannon. Shooting the legs on the Spider Tank I was seeing high numbers that were triple of the rifles. Head shots were getting me 360 damage. Be on early in case you want to do a quick run again with the character you had on the Moon. |

Agree that the sniper rifles are super useful in PVE. Definitely my favorite special weapon, even when I'm using the Scout Rifles but especially when I'm using the auto or burst rifles. |

I have to admit, the story seems to be the weakest part of the game for me so far. Like you said, go to this area, activate this, now go there and wait while I activate this. I'm not hoping for a Michael Bay type COD game, but a little more action and excitement in the story would be nice.
