The vault shouldn't take more than a couple of hours. My core group does it in right around one hour, and now everyone knows more or less what they are supposed to be doing.

I did the raid yesterday with a bunch of randoms and it only took an hour and half. Most people that are still playing Destiny have probably done the raid by now and can knock it out fairly quickly. Only one guy in the group had never seen it, but it was pretty easy to carry him along. An of course he ended up with raid armor at the end.

We also got the 5th chest which I had never seen before. They knew some trick to knock the Templar (1st boss) off the cliff. I never even fired a shot. They seemed to think that 5th chest only shows up if you beat the Templar without him teleporting, which we did.

Still, all I got for the entire raid was ascendant shards and energy, and the Chatterwhite shader from the final boss, which I already had. I'm gonna have to find a group to try it on hard. I'm dying to get the Fatebringer handgun.

I got a chance to look at what I actually got on the Vault with my Warlock...not bad I guess...

One problem for me...I already have a good Exotic Chest pc. If I can get in a few Raid runs and see what happens with Xur this weekend I might get the right pcs in place to keep and level up. yea I feel a bit lucky and honestly didn't realize what I had until today when I looked them up.

I have 2 exotic helms, exotic gloves, and exotic chest... so all I need is 2 out of those 3 from the raid to get a combination for Lvl 30.

I already have the raid boots (which I got on my very first raid attempt and only made it as far as the Templar). I guess I was lucky in that regard, but I haven't been as fortunate in 5 attempts since then. I have about 40 shards saved up though, if and when I do get lucky.

Have done Raid once (.9 times and .1 times) and have gotten no raid armor.

I FINALLY finished the Raid!

I got an invite from a random, and we had a pretty solid team. Choked a bit on the gorgon run, and kinda like our group here one person couldn't quite land the jump. But other than that it was pretty smooth.

More shards and energy, but then I got the Found Verdict shotgun from the Templar death, and from Atheon himself, I got the badass known as Atheon's Epilogue!

So now I can run my Titan and Hunter in there with that badass and a Ice Breaker equipped. So if we can get a group together, our chances just got a little better.

To borrow a quote from the greatest Nintendo commercial of all time, The Wizard: "I love the Epilogue, it's so bad!"

I put it on my Hunter and did the daily, finished just before the reset. Then I logged out and back in, and did today's daily. The Epilogue just ran through anything close, and the Ice Breaker slaughtered the rest. Lethal combo.

Want to think Scott for helping on that "nightmare" Nightfall...jeeeze those freaking wizards. Got dilys and the wekly in for both Titan and Warlock so that was good night.

If anyone wants to gather a group for the Raid tonight I'm in...can't be any worse than that Nightfall. I believe I've done it (3) times 1/3 the way and (3) times 2/3 the way and only once finished it.

That first run did make that run through the heroic a piece of cake...relatively ;)

I've got my Epilogue upgraded pretty high, hoping to get the Oracle bonus it has done before the next Raid. Still, a badass gun.

My Epilogue and Ice Breaker are maxed, and yeah, solid combo.

Definitely would like to raid tonight. Who else is in? I know our group will cruise through the first 90% of it, and we were already close on the Atheon fight.

Nice drops Buzz. I have two raid pieces for my Titan and just need the hard raid helm (or the chest and to level up Inmost Light) to get him to 30. I only have one raid piece for my Hunter (gauntlets) and one for my Warlock (boots), and that's all I really want from the raid at this point. Guess I wouldn't mind finally getting a Suros, but I'm not entirely sure how much use I'd get out of it.

still looking for my first piece of raid gear and any other goodies and just the satisfaction of completing it fully

What level do you need to be for the Raid? I'm level 25 with my warlock and I have never attempted it.

I'd say 26 at bare minimum. A 25 would be killed in one shot by a lot of the enemies in the vault, and even the first part outside would be a struggle. And then you have a 20% penalty to the damage you deal since you'd be a level below the enemies inside.

It's mostly the Praetorians and Minotaurs that will cause problems, but at 25, they're a nightmare. How close are you to 26?

And I'm in for the Vault run later too.

min recommendation is level 26 but you will probably struggle with anything lower than 28

It's funny how getting an Epilogue makes the Suros look like chopped liver. I just unlocked the stability upgrade, and the thing is a beast. 70 bullets, half of them dealing bonus damage. Void on a primary weapon. Extra damage to Oracles. And it's a Legendary!

The Suros still has some advantages, like the really noticable damage boost near the end of the magazine, and the slow rate of fire makes it solid for mid-range precision. It's not as good as it once was in PvP, but is still solid. Also, for taking something down like the Devil Walker, the Suros is still a better option. That last bullet is like triple damage. I didn't feel like the Epilogue was doing much of anything to the legs. It's a solid second option, and the best 25-35 Auto.

The other night with a group...maybe some here...we had two of us with Ice Breakers on top where you jump down and take out the oracles and it actually helped out quite a bit. First time I've seen that done. At first it was three of us, one on each side and one covering the middle. We were taking out the oracles, snipers and anything that posed a threat to the other players. But someone had to leave and we couldn't finish.

I just got that Epilogue the other day and need to work on getting that up. Problem is I've got The Hard Light, Monte Carlo, two good Fusion Rifles and of course the Ice Breaker to get up as well. Just how is the best and quickest way to level up the guns especially with so many. I had to spend vanguard points and picked up the Fire Rocket Launcher which matches the same model dealing Arc...now have another gun to level up.

...and I would assume the Epilogue is one of those non-Exotic guns that you should level up all the way no matter what...correct?

damn, I didn't realize it was a legendary .... thought is was an exotic
saw a video of someone with it doing the raid and they were carving shit up with it

will make me reconsider how much I level up the Suros I got when we did the Nightfall in case I come across getting the Epilogue

I will say I was really liking the Suros in my first Crucible use with it last night .... seemed to outperform a fairly leveled up Vanquisher VIII

What level to do the Raid: 27 minimum IMO, unless you have a bunch of 29s carrying you.

Fastest way to level weapons: pass them between characters and always have them equipped when you turn in bounties. I maxed my Epilogue over two weeknights this way.

Suros vs Epilogue: Yeah, I'm pretty happy with the Epilogue, and being able to pair it with the Ice Breaker makes it a no brainer. Plus it's literally custom made for the Vault.

being able to use those 2 weapons as a primary and special would be great ..... still wish Bungie had a more intuitive way to switch between same category weapons on the fly instead of having to jump into a pause state menu ..... d-pad would have been great for this but hey a Guardian needs to dance I guess

I've heard of that sniper strategy before. Even heard of running 4 up there with ice breakers, while there's two in the back to cover the two oracle spots blocked from that view, and cover the sniper that can't be hit from there. Last night, we just did the 3X3 on each side, and we didn't miss a single one. Well, one was missed in the Templar battle, but not in the other part.

The Epilogue is the single best weapon to run in a Raid, maybe the Mythoclast pre-nerf was better, but that's debatable. And you only get that on a Hard Raid run anyway. The Epilogue is what gets you a Mythoclast ;)

Bounties are the best way to rank up anything. Well, first, finish nightfall as soon as possible, on all your characters so they get the XP boost. Then its bounties. Whatever weapons you have equipped when you turn in a bounty will get the XP. Shift the weapons that need upgrading the most between your characters using the vault

Also, grimoire progress matters. There's ranks for kills with guns. Get 5000 kills with a primary weapon type, and you'll get a XP boost for that type of weapon, so 5000 auto rifle kills will make all your auto rifles upgrade faster. For special weapons, it's 2500, and heavy weapons is 1000. This carries over for all your characters.

I currently get the boost with Autos, Shotguns and Fusions. I'm very close with Pulse and Machine guns.

Completed 3 Crucible bounties and was given an Exotic Bounty to choose from that promised an Exotic weapon. I have to complete 5 strike missions without dying.

I'm sure that is the easy part of the bounty .... if you are worried about that part you might as well dismiss the bounty now
