That's hilarious.I don't know enough about Evolve to comment, but SO lost a little flair after the last showing. The gameplay didn't live up to the initial reveal/concept, IMO.

AFAIK, Evolve basically has one mode and no campaign. It might be a great mode, but for full price, I'm looking for more content and depth.
SO looks really over the top and colorful and frankly, boring. And honestly, even Insomniac's best games were probably bargain bin fare [edit: and that's coming from a R&C fan]. And Insomniac haven't exactly been making their best games lately.
Assasssin's Creed is yet another Assassin's Creed. It pays Ubisoft's bills, but yawn.
I'm just glad I'm entitled to an opinion. I'm cautiously optimistic about Far Cry and excited for Destiny, but otherwise, pretty weak fall.

Titanfall has only one mode and no campaign and it is entertaining as fuck.

It's been $40 routinely since it came out. That's a fair price, IMO for a MP only game.

Re: Bungie - Destiny
I shouldn't have to give you context Brack, but he's using Titanfall as an example of a game that should have been purchased at launch for full retail despite its lack of single player or other content. But it's a terrible example, because they printed way too many copies of the game, and it was really easy to find a copy for $35 a month after release. The only redeeming quality of his example is that launch month was about the only time anybody played Titanfall.
Evolve will be slightly different in that they probably won't over-produce it, but it will probably be a $30 game early next year, and all I'm saying is that looks like the right price point for that game to me based on what we know about it now. It just looks a little thin on content.

No one plays Titanfall anymore? That's simply not true. I can pop in the game at this very moment and play a match, no problem.
I bought Titanfall for $50 on release, btw, fully aware of the price drop, but it isn't much different than any other game out there released by Ubisoft, Activision, etc.

I have a feeling the next Titanfall will have a 4-6 hour single player campaign. When you hear stats like most Call of Duty owners never touch mp, you understand there is a market that will pay 60 bucks for a 4 hour game.
Sunset Overdrive looks fun as hell. I bought an xbox one for the Halo collection, but I bought one before Halo because of Sunset.
As for Evolve I am with Chess on this one. I don't get it. Maybe I have not read up on it enough, but the game seems like a 19 dollar game to me. It is taking a fun mode in Left 4 Dead and making a game out of it. There is no way in hell I would order that game until reviews from people on here and gaf come out.

I can go find a game in BFBC2, a game that came out 4 years ago, but that doesn't make it robust. If people are still playing it, they sure aren't talking about it. As an example, the Titanfall thread has been dead since mid May and is on page 4.
I might be misinterpreting what I've read, but my understanding is that the game underperformed to expectations, and the rapid drop in price reflected that. I hope the next game is more feature rich, performs better and does better at retail.

I hope I'm wrong about Sunset Overdrive. It strikes me as having a lot of what I like about Ratchet (crazy weapons and humor) but without the endearing villains and story and with a generic dude bro protagonist. And yeah, not a ton of faith in Insomniac these days. I haven't loved any of their games since Crack in Time (need to play Nexus). Had some fun with 8-player co-op in Resistance 2, which I think I picked up for $7.
To pull all of this full circle, Yeah, I don't think Destiny has a lot of competition this year. It would sell batshit crazy even if it did, but it doesn't, and what competition there is doesn't release until early or late November, so it has the market to itself for 2-3 months.

Once a game is released, generally talk about such game decreases on message boards. That doesn't in any way indicate whether or not people play a game. No one here talks about WoW, but plenty of people play it, no? Thread activity on a single message board isn't a good barometer. You may think it is, but that would be short sided thinking on your part.

Short-sighted, actually. But yeah, there's still a lot of folks playing Titanfall on the XO. Frankly, what else is there to play on it right now? Especially if you want a competitive multiplayer shooter other than CoD or BF4. It's a good game I still enjoy.
I agree with Brack, there really isn't much to talk about in the thread. Not like people are asking for help with the campaign or in unlocking Achievements. No clan discussions either, thanks to their bare-bones matchmaking system. And the DLC is just kind of more of the same. Nothing that really needs to be discussed any more with the game out and established.

so just because people aren't talking about the game in the thread here, that means nobody is playing the game anymore? that most be the most insanely idiotic comment i've read on here, which certainly says a lot.

Okay, Evolve is going to change everything, just like Titanfall. Believe the hype.

Re: Bungie - Destiny
My relationship with Titanfall is kind of weird. I'll go a month and a half without playing, pick it up, and have an unbelievably great time for a few days. "Why did I ever stop playing this? It's amazing!" Then I'll get distracted by some other game / TV-on-Blu-ray binge watching, pick it up again after 4-6 weeks, and the cycle repeats.
I'm interested in Evolve, but I don't think it's a day one purchase for me. That's a little weird since it seems like it'd be more up my alley with more of a horror element, monsters, etc. Then again, I thought the same thing about Titanfall.
Why I'm talking about all this in a Destiny thread, I'm not really sure.

So at least 12 people then?

Evolve looks like a game that blows people (and the press) away in small bites and gets more hype than it probably deserves but doesn't have great legs because it lacks variety and content. Sort of like Titanfall. I also worry about how that game is balanced.

I think that's one reason of many that Destiny will succede. Evolve was pushed and promoted just the same way Titanfall was last year but underneath all the hype and promise shows while both games offer(ed) something new, their focus is around a single game type. Destiny on the other hand pretty much covers it all...SP, co-op and MP while offering countless player options & expandability with large maps, worlds and missions. If Destiny was say MP only...no-way even half of the 4+ million would've done the Beta. I think when Destiny releases and the sales figures come in Devs will take note and hopefully we'll see more deverse games...SP, co-op & MP all included to fit everyones game type. And I'll bet the next Titanfall will not be MP only...

Re: Bungie - Destiny
Somebody thought Evolve would be competition, and I thought it looked a little thin on content for full price. Then came the Titanfall comparisons (to Evolve not Destiny) from Deftones, which I thought was odd because Titanfall hardly set the world on fire.
From a sales perspective, Destiny's only competition this fall is probably AC and CoD (maybe GTA V?). Evolve, Dragon Age, Far Cry, Sunset and Driveclub aren't even on the same scale.
Whether folks accept my premise that competition is thin this year or not, I don't think there's much debate that Destiny is going to sell a metric shit ton on all platforms. I just think the relatively weak year is going to help it even more.

Yeah, I still haven't bought into this being a packed fall either. I'm looking at Destiny and .... that's it. None of the carry over franchises from last gen(CoD, AC, FC, etc) do anything for me.
WiiU is looking pretty barren as well. Smash Bros. does nothing for me either.

Good lord. I said "AN EXAMPLE". One. Singular amongst plural.
Look at NPDs. Look at Amazon rankings since March. Many others, I'm sure.
Some people are playing it, but it was no CoD killer any more than Evolve is a Destiny killer.
