I'm skeptical that you can differentiate a fact from an opinion.

Here's another opinion:

I know phones can handle being updated without being connected to power, but that's a different beast. Those things have built in safety measures to ensure batteries don't drain 100%, and they use high capacity rechargeables. They can safely say "only update if battery is above 50%" or whatever.

Wireless updates of controllers would be a bad idea. Batteries can easily be removed... batteries can die... plugging it in ensures that there's power for the entire process. I'd hate to brick my controller because of an update.

Controllers are run on random Lith or Alk batteries with varying lifespans and depletion curves. No way I'd trust a firmware update using most of those. 50% capacity of a shitty $0.25 battery from Costco could be 15 seconds.

I HATE plugging in the controller just to update it, but I wouldn't do it any other way.

The one I'm using right now actually adds ammo to the magazine when you get kills, so if you're popping off headshots, you're not reloading much.
What, you're not compelled by the game's story?

I don't care about plugging it in, but no notification of an update being available?

Totally agree, actually.

It's weird. I remember getting a prompt on the home screen once, but never again. I'm sure this will be in a system update eventually.

In other news... Destiny!

When does the beta end anyway? I might actually have time to play it tonight finally.

Videogamer.com put one up. See if I can find it.

360 is unsurprisingly the better looking last gen version, and PS4 is unsurprisingly the better looking next gen version.

Sadly, no mention of the Xbox One controls being "way, way [two ways] better than the PS4's. Faster response, not [sic] lag at all, and easier aiming", but Brack can tell you all about that.

Monday, I believe.

And don't forget the event on Saturday for some exclusive content in the final game.

It appears to just be an in-game emblem, so anyone who has plans on Saturday afternoon doesn't need to sweat it.

(FWIW, I was lukewarm on Destiny beforehand and have loved the heck out of the beta. I had so much of a blast during the Strike mission that now I'm excited about Evolve, a title that I wasn't really considering before. Never would've guessed I'd hit the level cap on Destiny either!)

Not at all. But the setting is amazing. Artful even.

It goes without saying it was my opinion. Way to go Einstein.

It's the most fun I've had on a console in months.

I am an old guy (35). I can't tell much difference at all between the next gen systems and current gen. LOL, why even bother thinking about upgrading. The games look almost identical and they are still releasing current gen games like crazy, and it appears they will do so for the forseeable future

are we calling the one and ps4 current gen now and 360/ps3 last gen??

Re: Bungie - Destiny

I don't know, the PS4 to PS3, and vise versa with Xbox versions, seem like day and night. The graphics on last gen seem almost cartoonish, especially character rendering. I but if it's pure gameplay you care about, there might be some loss of frame rate with the last gen consoles based on what I read.

Until you have played both betas, you don't have much of a leg to stand on. Nice try though.

I'd rather have the $400 and the version everybody but you considers definitive. Keep fighting the good fight.

What fight? You're the one belittling what I had to say on the matter. It says a heck more a lot about you than it does me. Your hyperbolic statement speaks volumes. Keep fighting the good fight.

Honest question based upon this specific forum post:

Why the fuck haven't either chess or Brack been suspended and/or banned yet?

This build by Bungie made months ago IS the definitive version of the game. DON'T LET ANYONE TELL YOU OTHERWISE!

I wasn't bad mouthing the ps4. Good god I have the system and enjoy it immensely.I simply thought the controls were a little better on the Xbox One compared to the PlayStation 4. One game.

This console wars bullshit is so tired and dated. Pick a console, buy the game and play it. Then shut the fuck up about what another guy to decided to go with.

... but some guy on the internet told me the beta build from two months ago that was in 1080p and 30 frames per second is far superior to the beta build from two months ago thats in sub 1080p. WHO AM I SUPPOSED TO BELIEVE?

I don't think you understand how a firmware update on a piece of computer hardware actually works, because doing so wirelessly (and off batteries no less) could brick the controller.
