You are still running with a bunch of unknowns.

They added voice chat to the crucible matchmaking, they could do the same for NF so you can talk to the strangers you were matched with (through Bungie matchmaking or LFG).
Yes, however, in at least my experience, you run into far less a$$hats via LFG than you do via matchmaking. But, I've had some bad experiences on LFG too.

I would definitely like to try it, I am okay at PvP. I plan to do the iron banner this time to and try to hit at least level 3 for an etheric light.

What kind of reward do you get for a 3-loss card? The Brother Vance "stone tier" starts with at least 2 wins on a card. What kind of loot will that get you? If I remember reading right, losses subtract from wins...so you would actually need 5 wins (minus your 3 losses on that card) to get the 2 win tier. Is that right?

EDIT: to answer my own question..you need to be pretty good to get anything worthwhile.

I honestly think that no matchmaking for the NF, raid, etc. is horseshit. The popularity of the LFG sites shows there's a demand for it, so why not put it in? I'm more than willing to roll the dice with a random group, so I wish Bungie didn't make me jump through fucking hoops to do it.

Re: Bungie - Destiny

This might be a interest to those who do PvP......

Bungie bans Destiny Trials of Osiris cheaters

Destiny developer Bungie has blocked users that have been interrupting the connections of their opponents during multiplayer matches.

1
The troublesome tactic - which shall not be detailed here - was employed by cheaters this week while taking part in the new Trials of Osiris event.

"There were some among you who took nefarious action against your opponents," Bungie wrote in its weekly blog post. "Our intrepid team of investigators has diagnosed the most egregious cheaters among us. If you earned your victories by sinister means, you may very well have also earned a temporary (or permanent) time-out.

"Bungie is always watching. We enjoy a fair fight and we aim to protect the landscape of the game. Play nice!"

188,442 players were able to visit the Mercury lighthouse during the event - presumably including those who cheated their way there.

See a team of players get hit by the disconnect cheat below (warning: swearing ensues).

Couple of more videos where the lag switching is sooooooo much more obvious. Hope fully these douches get a perma ban. I thought I ran into this during a run of Trials.

Re: Bungie - Destiny

Ok so I decided to dig into this game to give it a fair shot. A friend I went online with told me I would end up loving it after just a few minutes of him showing me the ropes....He was right.

This game is f'n awesome. Yes, it can be a bit of a grind at times but I don't mind. I wasn't expecting the survival horror aspect. The game can really get the blood pumping.

I fell in love with the way you can simply "Patrol" on the new planets that open and I love the feeling of the Tower (although like most others, I agree it could be a lot more social).

I'm not going to ramble on with stuff you already know much about. I'm just very happy with this game and it's really impressive what they pulled off.

Call of Duty could seriously use this type of model for their games and while Rockstar games always wants their worlds completely open and free...let's face it, there isn't much to do in the world of GTA - they too could seriously benefit from something like this.

Re: Bungie - Destiny

I just got back into it. Played a bit when it came out but everyone here was ragging on it and I moved on. Noticed most of my friends list play it non stop so I gave it another chance. Couple guys have helped me level up my Warlock from 11 where I'd left off to 16. I kinda like doing some stuff on my own though cuz I just feel like a spectator when I play with them lol.

Re: Bungie - Destiny

OK, so here we go with this week's Xur Report, brought to you by the Iron Banner. Join Lord Salad Head in his quest to frustrate and anger everyone. Like getting one shotted from hand cannons from the other side of the map? Then you'll love Iron Banner, this week only.

Xur's offerings this week range from the excellent to the weak, and offer no real surprises.

Xur is located in North Tower, in front of the big ass doors across from the speaker.

For the Titan, it's the Helm Of Saint-14 Helmet. It blinds those stupid enough to enter your Titan bubble. If you don't have it, get it.

For the Hunter, it's Young Ahamkara's Spine gauntlets. They make your tripmines last longer...yip...eee.

For the Warlock, it's the Obsidian Mind Helmet. Obsidian Mind + Bad Juju = near-unlimited Nova Bombs. Grab it.

The Engram this week is for chest armor. Stay tuned for me weekly gamble of motes to see what I got...

The weapon this week is the MIDA Multi-Tool. Mewmartigan, Looks like you're the victim of the raid dropping Xur's inventory.

All in all, a pretty quiet week from Xur. Now on to the gambling. Since there is only 1 new chest piece, I decided to buy engrams 1 at a time. My first roll turned into a Crest Of Alpha Lupi Hunter chest.

The second one became:

So I lucked out again! And the roll is really high. Gotta love it.

Re: Bungie - Destiny

I have enough Motes to buy one of the engrams. Hope I luck out.

My bubble Titan is still not fully XP'd up, but once he is it makes sense to have the helmet. Will be buying it.

Re: Bungie - Destiny

That multitool must have fallen out of his bag on the way to the tower.
I like scout rifles and hand cannons so the multitool and the FB were a win last night.

Re: Bungie - Destiny

I have some comical number of motes, so I'll probably roll a couple of hundred on chests.

And I've gotta say, everything I've gotten from that PoE chest is hot garbage. Am I missing something?

GFY Xur! I'm going to go grab this bastard and hang him by the ankle over a Tower railing "Commando Style" until he gives me what I want.

Re: Bungie - Destiny

For those interested, Trials Of Osiris has opened up for Week 3. The map this week is Widow's Court, which is one of the new House Of Wolves maps. Could be interesting for Trials, as it's deceptively large, and doesn't feature the same kind of choke points that Pantheon has. Plus, being a newer map, people will have a more even playing field.

Re: Bungie - Destiny

Im really, really, really getting tired of not ever getting the Gjallarhorn

Did a level 32 POE with randoms from LFG last night. We tried the boss one time the normal way, died with him having 1/4 life and they booted me because I didn't have the Gjallarhorn.

I have done the raid and the nightfall a ton of times with three characters and cant ever get it. Most of the LFG teams only will take 34s with Gjallarhorns.

It looks like I am reaching the end of the game, whether I like it or not

Re: Bungie - Destiny

Yeah, life is probably tough without the Gally right now. You could make the Hunger of Crota or other tracking rockets work in the last raid, and Ice Breaker was great in the first raid, but in PoE, Gjallarhorn is king. Even on 35, with void burn, Gally was my favorite option for the final round.

It's about time they bypassed their random number generator for Xur and offered it up for sale IMO, because it's a legitimate barrier to entry.

And speaking of PoE, I finished three 35 runs today. I have bounties on all three characters and got a solar scout rifle, but it was otherwise complete garbage for a ton of work.

Re: Bungie - Destiny

I have to say, Void burn made the Skolas fight legit fun. Since nothing else really shoots void at you, it makes the fight viable to play as it's intended, and it's a very well designed coop boss fight...right up there with Atheon. I honestly don't think you could get it done without everyone on headsets giving constant updates.

I'd imagine it would be fun with no burn at all too. But if it's Arc, I'm not sure I'm going to bother, because fuck that. And if it's fire, I'm going to cheese him with Gjallarhorns, because why wouldn't you?

They also need to address the PoE loot, because I've opened the big chest 25+ times, and other than the first one (where everyone gets an exotic) and the first 35 (where you get the ship/shader), I've gotten absolutely nothing interesting. And after killing Skolas 8 times, I've gotten one gun drop and all three exotic quests. So you basically end up doing the raid JUST for Etheric Light, and the appeal of that will only last so long...probably a few more weeks in my case.

Re: Bungie - Destiny

pretty sure this will turn out to be legit

The Taken King will be released on September 15th, and there will be 3 new subclasses. Void for Hunter, Solar for Titan, and Arc for Warlock. There should be a reveal trailer at E3.

That's about what most of us expected. It's going to basically be double the size of the previous two DLC packs, so double the price.

There is also supposed to be 2 more expansions after The Taken King, which will be the the size of the current two expansions. I can see them selling a $60 GOTY type of release with all the expansions included...maybe.

Re: Bungie - Destiny

$40? My first instinct is , nope. But you know, it's funny how these things are relative.

I spent $40 on dinner last night at a not especially pricey Thai joint, and every time we hit a movie, it's $30-$35. But I've gotten hundreds of hours of enjoyment out of so many $20-$30 games that I instinctively recoil at $40 DLC, especially when the content so far in Destiny has been largely underwhelming. I also HATE to support that kind of business model in a hobby I care about.

It doesn't help the value proposition when I've made $65 in Warframe, a similar game that I like quite a bit more and one that has exponentially more content.

We'll see. I did enjoy HoW...or at least the structural updates and PoE.
