i am up to level 14 now and still having a blast with my lock. The Strike on the moon was much more exciting that the earth strike. I am finally starting to get blue gear.

Re: Bungie - Destiny
Another successful day at Unce Crota's play house. Played with a group of pug's, encounter was sorta glitch, but we prevaled only after 30 minutes or so. My haul? Word, Shader, Shards and Energy and a suros was waiting for me at the postmaser. Only need the Fang and possibly the Crux and ship then no more hard Crota for me.

Bungie Weekly Update - 01/29/2015 by DeeJ This week at Bungie, we gave our front page a facelift. Like what we’ve done with the place? It’s another step in our effort to show off more of the amazing things you’re doing in Destiny. You complete us. Don’t worry. I’m not going to prattle on about Bungie.net for seven paragraphs. We know you have heavier concerns that need to be addressed. Let’s get down to some super serious business. Heavy Ammo Inbound Before I ran away from home to join Cirque de Bungie, I was a huge fan of the way the team shot people out of cannons. For me, it was always fascinating to pull the curtain back a little bit and look in on the world where games get made. If you’re reading this, I hope you agree. I still remember the time, long ago during the age of another game, when one of them posted “I just fixed a ten-year-old bug,” on a social network. I was shocked to learn that there were bugs buried so deep in the code that they could take a decade to squash – and that there were developers tenacious enough to hunt them for that long. That developer was Jon Cable. These days, Jon works on Destiny as a Sandbox Engineer. The fancy title means he’s one smart guy on a team of smart people who create the code that makes your armor and guns work. They still hunt bugs where they live, no matter how deep, or for how long, they’ve burrowed into the code. Hypothetical Aside: You love Heavy Weapons. The purple glow of ammunition is a promise of future enemy annihilation by way of your favorite Rocket Launcher or (even better) belt-fed Machine Gun. You buy it in bulk when you visit the Gunsmith. To get the most bang from your space bucks, you equip armor that lets you carry more of the stuff. Unfortunately it turns out that those deep pockets have metaphorical holes in them. Thus, you tend to lose your coveted ammunition when one of the following happens in a PVE activity: You die You return to orbit You encounter a cutscene If you’ve spent any time reading about Destiny on a forum where Guardians congregate, you know this is far from hypothetical. It happens to us all. It makes Raids harder to clear. It deprives you of precious Glimmer, and patience. Frankly, it sucks. For some time now, we’ve been tracking this one. To date, the best we’ve been able to do is to admit that we were aware of the issue. This week, we can give you some additional information. Did we mention that Sandbox Engineer Jon Cable loves to hunt the really big bugs? He’s working on a fix that we hope to deploy before the end of February. While we test his work and prep it for deployment, he wanted to say a few words about what he (along with his team) has been wrestling with behind the scenes. Jon: The basic flaw here is an ordering problem. Our inventory system creates your weapons when your characters spawn. When that happens, it tries to restore the same fraction of ammo that you had when you died. The bug occurred because the weapon is created before capacity modifiers from armor perks are applied, so the persisted fraction yields fewer rounds. Way over my head! Sounds like you’ve identified the issue, though. Any word on why it’s taking so long to resolve? Jon: Fixing bugs in a live game is always about managing risk. What are the chances that the fix is going to cause an issue that might be worse than the original bug? Players outnumber our testers by factors of several thousand, so if there is a problem that slips through the cracks, it is virtually guaranteed that the community will find it. This bug was mainly risky because it was at the intersection of a lot of different systems – player profiles, investment, sandbox, perks, and weapon management. Would it be simpler and faster to just fix the affected perk? Jon: There are a lot of weapon and armor perks in the game. Changing the order of how they are applied has a huge impact. It would have required a large restructuring of the way the game works to even accomplish this, because the armor perks can’t take effect until the weapon is created anyway. The application of armor perks would have to be inserted in between weapon creation and the rest of the weapon setup code. So, what’s the ultimate solution? Jon: In the end, I came up with a surgical change that fixes the main issue and minimizes the chances that a new problem would be introduced. I do not think I can overstate the complexity of these systems – it took me several tries to come up with a fix that did not cause other problems. Fixing bugs can be tricky business. Promising and dating fixes can be just as challenging. For this particular bug, we’ll be sure to update you once the new math is on the way to your box. Until then, if you catch a distraught Guardian lamenting their lost rounds, please point them to this conversation. Hard Mode is Hard Last week was exciting. You Raided. Hard. We watched. Well, we Raided, too, and hard, but we have the advantage of having built the thing. That doesn’t mean that you can’t teach us a thing or two. In our conversations about what we learned and how we’ll evolve our practices in the future, a few of you came up in conversation. Check out these tactical highlights. You might gain some pointers on how to survive, or just marvel (as we did) at the ingenuity that’s always on display in the Destiny Community. “Clever, effective, and unique…” "This is how a boss deals with Shrek and Fiona." You never fail to surprise us. Please don’t stop. Knowledge = Power Every Guardian thinks a lot about power. The fine people who support the Destiny Operations Center like to equip you with the knowledge you need to stay in the game. On Wednesday, we saw a sharp increase in BANJO and CATTLE errors, preventing players from signing into Destiny. Players were able to log in later that same day and we are investigating this issue as it subsides. We apologize for the inconvenience; let us know if you are still experiencing these issues by posting in the Bungie #Help forums. Speaking of error codes, we have updated our article pages for BABOON, MARIONBERRY, NIGHTINGALE, and WASP to better assist you in getting a stable connection and back into the game. Remember, before going into extensive troubleshooting there are steps that may help reduce errors and improve your connection: Power-cycle your router Clear the cache on your console Secure a wired connection, if possible Read up. Arm yourselves. We’ll see you in the Tower. Now Showing! We mentioned at the top that we want to start showing off more of your handiwork right here on Bungie.net. As part of that initiative, we’d like to introduced you to a small feature we’re dubbing “Movie of the Week.” Whether you’re creating a masterpiece of action, or just sharing a moment of triumph, we’re going to feature at least one of you every seven days. The inaugural clip comes from Raiders who need to watch their tongues in the Hellmouth! [Warning: Here be bad language.] We want more, no matter if you’re taking your thumb off the stick to hit the Share button or barking “Xbox Record That!” while your team is trying to focus on the plan of attack. If we feature your work here, we’ll give you a unique Emblem to wear in the game. To submit your own entry, send it to @Bungie on Twitter and tag it with #DestinyMOTW. We’ll be watching. Always. ------------------------------------------------- DeeJ on Vault Space from the comments section of the article: "Before anyone asks: We know you want more room in your Vaults for your favorite weapons. We know how much you want it. We want that for you. It's a think we're talking about. New game features take time to build. Hang in there, and hope for the future." |
Re: Bungie - Destiny
Sounds like going to the room for ogers is what they consider cheese. I would really love to see the developers play hard mode to see the "correct" way to play it.

Re: Bungie - Destiny
OK folks, here we go with the weekly Xur report, brought to you this week by Atheon and the Vault Of Glass. Come back and visit the glass bastard, he misses you.
Xur is located in North Tower in front of the big door across from the Speaker. This week Xur has, well, absolute shit. http://oi61.tinypic.com/nq75zk.jpg For the Titan, it's the Mk, 44 Stand Asides Leg Armor...again For the Hunter, it's the Don't Touch Me Gauntlets...again. If you missed these last time, they're worth a pickup. And that's the only time I'll be saying that in this report. For the Warlock, it's Starfire Protocol...again The engram this week: Gloves This week's weapon is once again this game's way of rewarding my loyalty and devotion with absolute and complete contempt. It's the Dragon's Breath Rocket Launcher. GOD...FUCKING...DAMNIT Xur has no heavy ammo available this week. Upgrades: For the Hunter, it's the Mask Of The Third Man Helmet and Young Ahamkara's Spine Gauntlets. For the Titan, it's the Helm Of Inmost Light Helmet and Crest Of Alpha Lupi Chest For the Warlock, it's the Skull Of Dire Ahamkara Helmet and Sunbreakers. Weapons: SUROS Regime Thorn Universal Remote Pocket Infinity Ice Breaker Super Good Advice So there you go. All in all, perhaps the shittiest week Xur has ever had, outside of maybe the Don't Touch Me gauntlets. Then again those have a shitty roll, so even that's crap. You might be better off buying the engram and hoping for a lucky drop. As for me, Xur gets nothing from me this week, for the first time since Week 3 or 4. No motes, no coins. Fuck Xur, fuck Bungie, and where the fuck is my Gjallarhorn? |
Re: Bungie - Destiny
I should've guess or known Xur would be like this after this weeks total disaster and seeing Scott's post is prof of it....
Titan...don't need the boots Warlock....already have the chest Hunter....already have the gauntlets Dragon's Breath....already have one And as for upgrades, I've already promised Scott on getting enough Heavy Ammo Packs so spare glimmer is out of the question and besides as he said....shittiest week ever. When it rains, it pours.... |
Re: Bungie - Destiny
Thx for report. Feel for you. On the other hand, it's nice to get a proper "Fuck Bungie" out of you. Way past due IMO.
Guess I might get some ammo synths, but I think I might prefer glimmer farming to weekly strikes as a practical matter. Really sick of weeklies and Nightfalls. Also thought I'd upgrade my other two Suros for hard Crota when they came up again, but after smoking him twice yesterday with two different groups, I don't really think I need them. Might just shard the other two. |
Re: Bungie - Destiny
Sooo I still don't fully understand the upgrade thing. Do I need to buy a shard to upgrade the Ice Breaker I bought last week? Or is it already fully upgraded?

You will, however, need to use a shard in your icebreaker's final upgrade slot to fully upgrade it. |
Re: Bungie - Destiny
Ah, good to know, thanks

Re: Bungie - Destiny
best thing about Xur this week is I was able to guess exactly where he would be located last night so it took me only a second to get to him, see his crap goods and get out
didn't even have to follow a bunch of dots on the radar as no one was near him (never a good sign) |

Re: Bungie - Destiny
so we agree in this slot machine that is Destiny that if you guess where Xur will be on your first run into the tower upon his appearance your odd of getting what you want/need should go up :D

Re: Bungie - Destiny
How long does the DLC take to finish? I noticed many of the dailies have been locked out if you aren't far enough along with DLC.

Re: Bungie - Destiny
I'd love to know (or maybe not) how much of my time in this game has been spent flying to the god damn tower.

Re: Bungie - Destiny
I wonder if it is more than the amount of time you have spent complaining about the game... ;)

I think that Abyss Defiant is a fairy decent auto rifle. Once you start upgrading it, you can customize it to fire almost exactly like Suros. I was surprised, because the stats didn't look good. As for Sword Breaker, I use it for the early Vault phases, specifically against the Praetorians outside, and also for the first oracle phase, since there are minotaurs with void shields. It was so so in the Crucible, if shotguns are your thing.
I like it - it absolutely wrecked hive in the Weekly. I had 180 kills compared to sauce and Gooter's 77 each. |
