I only run 1 PE with each of my 2 characters daily for ascendant materials
should I be running more?
no time for all that stuff

It's been my experience that you have a chance at ascendant materials from every public event... up until the point when you max out your vanguard marks for the week. After that, you're almost guaranteed to get nothing.

Like I said, that's my experience. I don't know if that's how it really works. I definitely have never gotten anything after I maxed out, but I have occasionally earned multiple materials per day prior to reaching 100 marks for the week, just by doing a bunch of public events in one session.

Tonight was beyond frustrating. Chess, K&A, and I did the daily twice. I'd say between both runs I got booted at least 12 times. Worst part was getting booted at the very end after defeating the gate lord, and getting zip.

Yeah, that was nuts.

Funny thing is that Buzz and I didn't get kicked the rest of the night. Did 3 nightfalls...in which I got two things...jack and shit.

Yep. I even got a Raid run in there just now. We had a solid run through the Templar, then as we made our way down to the Gorgon run the team starting falling apart. After a couple of deaths to the Gorgons, a fight started between a couple of the guys.

We get to the jump, and all that's on the mic is this stupid fighting shit. 5 of us get through the jump, but the 6th guy, one of them in the fight of course decided to be a dick and kept dying over and over. So everybody started dropping out, including myself. I did get Praedyth's Revenge from the Templar, after buying an Arc Sniper from the Vanguard. Oy.

And now I have a save point for the Raid at the start of Gatekeeper battle, and one less friend on my list.

You've become good friends with "Jack & Shit" almore more than some fellow DVD Talkers here...

Other than that like NBKiller said it was brutal just trying to stay in the mission. In one hour I was booted out at least 8-10 times and that was just painful naturalbornkiller got booted right when we knocked off the Gate Lord nd didn't get the rewards. It was just shoot and pray we weren't going to get booted.

All-in-all a pretty productive night the rest of the way when everything settled down....

Nightfall for all (3) Characters
Daily for all (3) Characters
Public Event(s) for all (3) Characters

....which I got a good suply of Shards, Energy, Coins and one Exotic Rocket Luncher. And glad Reaper helped on the two Nightfalls with that way of taking out the boss. I don't see how anyone could stay alive down there on it. Spash damage alone was brutal.

Yeah Buzz...bringing the cheese!

Can't believe he got an Ice Breaker and Skull of Dire Whatever for his Warlock. Meanwhile, I got coins, coins and a shitty purple machine gun. FML. That's three straight weeks that the Nightfalls have shafted me.

If you plan on doing the Weekly Heroic or Nightfall, make sure you stop at the bounty board. There's a bounty up for completing one. I had that bounty on all my characters for the Nightfall, and will do it again for the Heroic.

Yeah, I had the same thing happen to me. I got the same scout rifle that I got as a reward for lvling up vanguard like 3 lvls ago, at least when I broke it down, i got a telemetry out of it.

Yup. On the upside, I'm going to have upwards of 90 coins this week. I'm at the point where I'm buying any armor Xur sells unless I already have it.

Bring it Xur. You fucking owe me.

Anybody up for a Raid tonight? Hopefully kind of early?

The Dark Below: Destiny’s First Expansion Hits 12/9

+ Posted by Lorenzo Grajales on Oct 29, 2014 // Blog Manager, Latin America

Bungie just announced that Destiny‘s first expansion, The Dark Below, is coming out on December 9th. We caught up with Eric Osborne, Bungie’s Community and Marketing Relations Manager, to ask him a few questions about what we can expect to see.

PlayStation.Blog: Thank you for taking the time to talk to us today Eric. Today saw a huge announcement regarding Destiny’s first expansion: The Dark Below. What exactly are you announcing?

Eric Osborne: We’re announcing that Destiny’s first expansion, The Dark Below, will be available on December 9th. Players who pick it up for download will be able to earn new weapons, armor, and gear, experience new story quests and missions, play new cooperative activities with their friends, and add three multiplayer Crucible arenas to their competitive rotation with Skyshock, Pantheon, and The Cauldron. In addition to new content, we’re also raising Player Light Level potential to 32, increasing Bounty slots from five to ten, and including some fun surprises for everyone who’s playing the game.

PSB: The PlayStation exclusive content includes an exclusive Strike, what can you tell us about this strike and what players can look forward to?

EO: We’re going to detail the Strike out in full in the weeks ahead, but we can confirm that PlayStation players will get access to an exclusive, cooperative Strike that takes place in the Black Garden, “The Undying Mind,” and more. We’ll share more in-depth details very soon.

PSB: There is a new character in this expansion. Can you give us a little introduction?

EO: Players are spending a lot of time in the Tower, so we took the opportunity to craft a new character, Eris, that players can receive quests and missions from in The Dark Below. Not only does she offer up unique bounties and rewards, she also has a story to tell about The Hive and their evil intentions. She’s also pretty creepy!

PSB: What can we expect for the future of Destiny?

EO: That’s a great question. We have well laid plans for the future, but you know what they say about those! We just put the finishing touches on The Dark Below, and we have some fun and much requested updates en route that will land before and after December 9th. In the days and months ahead, we’ll keep charting the course for Destiny, right alongside the awesome community of players. As always, it should be a great ride.

All great stuff Eric, thank you so much for taking the time to talk with us today. I’m sure our players, like us, can’t wait to get a hold of this new expansion on December 9th.

If I'm reading that right, there's no new areas except for Crucible events? That sucks.

Re: Bungie - Destiny

To get to light level 32, does that mean better Raid armour or perhaps they will let us use more than one piece of exotic?

Re: Bungie - Destiny

As per Activision:

New weapons, armour and gear to earn, including Legendary and Exotic items
Light Level cap raised to 32 and five additional Bounty slots added
New story quests and missions – after years hiding amongst the Hive shadows, a new character, Eris, has come forth bearing an ominous warning: The Hive seek to summon a god, Crota, to destroy the Earth. Find Eris in the Tower to take on special quests that include three new missions where you will increase your Light and earn new rewards
New co-operative Strike, The Will of Crota, pits you and your Fireteam against Omnigul as she works to expand the Hive army at the command of her master, Crota
Three new competitive multiplayer arenas:
Pantheon – set deep within the Black Garden in an ancient Vex temple that features Vex-designed landscapes and tight corridors
Skyshock – an old interplanetary defence array that offers both vehicle and infantry engagements
The Cauldron – an abandoned Hive ritual site that offers close-quarter combat
New six-player Raid, Crota's End, set deep within the depths of the Hellmouth
PlayStation platforms will also get access to an exclusive co-operative Strike, The Undying Mind and an exotic weapon, and more (timed exclusive until at least Autumn 2015)

I would assume it's new raid armor, that has to be fully upgraded.

Really? Thai sounds like $20 worth of content to you? A third of a full game?

Full game costs $60
.33 * 60 = 20
Seems fair to me

Re: Bungie - Destiny

It's already becoming a pain to even try and get to Level 30 much less 32. They just Buffed the Boss in The Raid and getting the right armor pieces is like getting a Jackpot on a slot machine. And what legendary armor pcs you get it's a Catch 22...you need to Level them up, spend the Shards to get you leveled up but you don't want to waste shards on the "Normal" Legendary items. And the only place to get even a slight shot at better armor is The Raid which you need to be leveled up....

You misunderstood what I asked. I asked does that sound like as much content as a third of a full game to you? To me it sounds like a much smaller amount of content based on what's listed there. The full game has what? Four planets, eight strikes, about 20 missions. Plus raids, Patrols and the like.
This expansion seems pretty measly by comparison.

Remember that the new raid gear will make the existing hard raid much easier (assuming the enemy level stays at 30). If the new cap is 32, I think you'll find that getting to 30 is relatively easy, just like it's easy to get to 28-29 now.

Re: Bungie - Destiny

Props to the team I was on today that did all of the dirty work while I died twice and just stayed dead until they finished. ;)

Scored some strange coins and my exotic/vanguard bounties were completed, got my exotic special weapon, which is weak, but will get stronger as it upgrades. I also got another Unfriendly Giant Legendary weapon, so that one is going into the vault.

I'm going to start on some new characters, so that I can maximize reward grabs, etc.
