re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
Yeah the doom and gloom is nonsense. Nintendo will right this ship, they always do. As usual it's simply the early adopters that suffer.
I think the complaints are valid this time out though. Launches are always bumpy but a sloooow ass OS with even slower game load times is inexcusable on day one. Game releases are also spotty but 6 months since launch and the biggest game was a LEGO title? Come on. Online? They had 5 years to work something out but pfft, why bother? I'm not down on the system though(slow OS, load times and non existent online can't bother me when the system never gets turned on ;)). I'm just peeved that I haven't gotten to play through Pikmin and Rayman by now. I mean, since I finished NSMBU, I've played F-Zero & Punch Out. Great games of course, but that's just sad. |

If you don't already have it for another console, check out Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed. It's a blast on the Wii U, and the gamepad offering up local multiplayer with no split-screen is pretty amazing.

How is LEGO City for anyone that has it?

re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
For what it's worth, i'm down on Nintendo but do think they'll manage to be mildly successful later on. Just not anywhere close to as successful as the Wii, and behind the PS4/720 this generation with really only their core games finding an audience. It can be another Gamecube, and there's nothing wrong with that, and they can make money doing so. But there's also no question that Nintendo's promises to fix the lack of big third party support with the Wii isn't happening, and the casual market isn't going to suddenly be interested in the controller like they were with motion controls.

Oh thank god they added an overall console overscan solution. Now I can use this damn thing.

So are we out of beta yet?

re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
Anyone else having problems getting the update? As soon as it starts to download it throws up errors saying it can't connect to server. Too much traffic?

No problems here other than how long it took.

re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
Ended up moving the console right next to my wireless router and it worked. Strange, since I didn't have to do that for the original update.
It's better, but not quite as fast as I expected. Wonder if they will optimize it further with the next update. |
re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
Gave the Rayman Challenge thing a spin. Not bad. So is this the same demo as before + challenges? So I can delete the old one(timed) and just keep this one?

re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
Cool. I liked the Murphy challenge, despite death by trial nature of it. Took a half dozen tries before I figured out you could turn the Lums purple for more. Since I wasn't doing that I was going way farther into the level than need be. That definitely made it challenging. Once I realized my error, and started turning them purple the level was a breeze.
The highlight is still the "Black Betty" castle level. Hopefully there will be more of those. |
re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
Well the damn patch didn't fix the scribblenauts freezing but at least now I can turn it off without unplugging the system...

Is it gonna have a running commentary from AVGN complaining about how hard and shitty the game is?

Eternal Darkness 2, the single best news since the WiiU launched
Eternal Darkness 2 without Silicon Knights and Dennis Dyack  |
re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
Yeah, reading the headline, my heart skipped a beat. Reading the actual news, my expectations took a huge dip, but I'm still interested.

Plus, I hate the episodic model for games.
