As we looked around, there was the Wii U demo, parked right beside the backdoor. I'm guessing it was going out with tonight's trash run. It made me sad to see it go.

Time to unsticky this thing and stick the Switch thread? Time to let it die, just like Nintendo did.

Re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo

The Middleweights 13:17 - Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed 13:14 - DuckTales: Remastered ======== Total 26.5 hrs The Lightweights 8:54 - Yoshi's Wooly World 6:51 - Splatoon 5:54 - LEGO: Dimensions 3:42 - Nintendoland 3:37 - Kirby & the Rainbow Curse 3:35 - NES Remix 2:33 - Super Mario Maker 1:14 - F-Zero (SNES) ======== Total 36.3 hrs. The Scrubs (under an hour) Legend of Zelda Donkey Kong Super Mario World Balloon Fight Dr. Luigi Punch-Out Just Dance: 2016 (kids played) Unplayed Pile Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Grand Total: 340 hrs. or 14.1 days. That's not so hot. I probably spent more time in any given Halo game than all those combined. Only two games in the unplayed pile. That's actually really low. |
Re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
Is there a WiiU version of Super Mario Allstars or do I just buy the Wii version and play it through the shell on the WiiU?

Re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
There is only a Wii version

Oh... you can play that on the Wii U Sloppy?

Re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
Yeah, we used to have the SNES version, but we dumped a lot of consoles a few years back and we haven't replaced all the games.
Would you all recommend the disc version or just buying the games through the VC? |

Any other games coming out of significance? Or was Brrath of Athens Wild the last one

Re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
Hey guys, random Wii U question.
I just bought one for $100, and it included BOTW and Windwaker downloaded on it. But the previous owner’s Nintendo ID is still logged in. If I log in with mine, do I lose the games? |
Re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
Shouldn't. Games are locked to hardware and not user IDs - Nintendo has gotten all sorts of shit for this over the years.
You can call them if you want to be 100% sure. |

Thank you

Re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
Nintendo of America is no longer offering replacement batteries for the Wii U GamePad at their online store:

I just wish the battery of the controller didn't run out when not in use.

Re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
Long Wii U story:
I sold my launch Wii U shortly after the Switch launched. Sometime right before COVID I rebought a Wii U back when Gamestop had them on sale for $99 and I got a Zelda model. So I've had it for almost 2 years and haven't really touched it. So with the Metroid Dread news I remembered that even though I love Metroidvanias I've never even played the majority of 2D Metroid games and never played through any of them. I remembered that you can play some GBA games through the Wii U Virtual Console so I figured I'd buy Metroid Zero Mission (the remake of the original). So I turn on my Wii U and I remember that I had to create a generic NNID since it wouldn't let me use the same one from my launch Wii U that I had sold like 5 years ago. So I decided to google it and sure enough if you call Nintendo they can unlink your NNID and then you can attach it to your new system. So I did that and it went smooth and sure enough I was able to have my original NNID on my Wii U. I wasn't even thinking I was going to have access to games I had purchased back then but it said you can go to the Eshop and go to your download list and you could redownload your stuff to your current Wii U. So where it gets weird is I click on the Wii U eshop button and it loads up and then it tells me you can't access the Wii U eshop until you at least once go into the "original" Wii menu. So I click on the "original" Wii menu button and it tells me you have to have a Wii remote to go any further. You can't use the Wii U controller or the Wii U classic controller you have to pair a Wii remote to the system before it will even open the Wii menu. The problem being that I haven't owned a Wii remote in 5+ years. So I run down to the local used game store and pick up a used Wii remote. I pair it to the system and it gets me in the Wii menu. While I'm there I click on the original Wii shop and sure enough I had a bunch of Virtual Console games along with Doc Louis's Punch-Out (a Club Nintendo exclusive) and Grill-Off with Ultra Hand which are both rare and can't be purchased any more so I downloaded those two and then when I got into the Wii U eshop I had transferred all those Virtual Console games from Wii to Wii U back in the day so I downloaded the 50 or so virtual console games I owned. So overall a little convoluted way for me to play Metroid Zero Mission but it did allow me access to a bunch of games I forgot about. |

Reminder that the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U eShops are closing today:
It's your last chance to buy from Nintendo’s Wii U and 3DS eShops |
