re: Battlefield Talk

I have engineer maxed and I'm one level away from both Medic and Assualt being maxed...I hadn't been playing much Recon, because i suck with the sniper rifles...but since figuring out the wiffle ball I have been playing it more often. on the smaller town maps, i like to play some recon with a shotty, mortor strike, and the wiffle ball. I just toss those balls as far as i can, hide in a house, and mortor stike the fuck out of whatever shows up on my map...

Anybody else get the beta code for Battlefield 3? It's only PC so I doubt I'll use it. I haven't FPSed on a PC in ten years at least.

re: Battlefield Talk
Recon is supposed to rack up the Spot assists using both select and the motion mines. They should also be getting rid of the other teams wookies. They are not supposed to sit in a dark corner and camp like most of the other wookievaginas do.
My real beef with wookie teammates isn't that they don't contribute, it's that they decrease the team's available spawn points and have minimal impact on the critical mass required to take an objective. They are OK in deathmatch, marginally useful in rush (on defense) and almost completely useless in conquest.

So on the Battlefield 3 front - looks like medics will not be so overpowered or nearly as effective. The assault class will carry the med kits and defibs . The defib will have a charge time and you will need to aim it. Also players have the choice of whether or not they will be revived or if they will respawn. Engineers and recon will remain the same and another support class will carry the big LMGs and ammo. Also as a way to be more like CoD - class sustomization will be taken up a notch.

re: Battlefield Talk
Odd...does it even have medics?
If the assault class has med kits and defibs, it sounds like it kind of becomes the medic...just with assault rifles instead of light machine guns.

Exactly. Apparently the Support (Machine Gunner) class will get XP from laying down cover fire along with resupplying teammates or something like that. I think they are trying to balance out the game.

Yeah, it's a little messed up that the medic is a better assualt class...than the assault class.
A team of 4 medics who know what they are doing will take the shit out of an objective.

A full 58% of my kills come from my top three weapons and my top vehicle. I wonder if that sort of thing is really common or rare.

I would think it would be pretty common since there is lots of rinse, lather, repeat in BFBC2.

I would think that most folks find a weapon they are comfortable with and stick with it. I progressed from the T88 to the M60 to the SAW, and they are my top 3 in reverse order, I think...unless the knife sneaked in there.
Nice little dig there Cruz. Speaking of lather, rinse, repeat...

I'd love to know the formula for that. Mine's not nearly as high, but I'm almost always traveling with others, always healing and reviving, and I spot constantly.
The only thing I routinely do solo is recon behind enemy enemy lines and take their objectives...usually to pull their focus back so my team can make a push. It's a team action in the purest sense, but I don't think I get team credit for it unless somebody spawns on me along the way or as I take the objective.

Shocked: I noticed you were playing Recon more and more, ogsoley, but I never imagined it would become your #1 class!
Not-As-Shocked: You've moved down to the #3 spot on the leaderboards, chess. Absence makes the heart grow fonder and the PS3 controller dustier...

The images are blocked at work, but I'm hoping I still at least have you guys trumped on Ace Pins...and I think my W/L ratio and K/D ratios were up there too. Just so you dingleberries have something to work on.

I didn't see that coming either, but it's clearly a product of my attempting to get the insignia for: sniper rifles, c4 kills, marksman headshots, and, frankly, the combat excellence pins on maps like atacama desert.

F*$k this game. I played tonight, the first 2 maps we got crushed with tons of spawn camping, then we joined spatula's game of rush. I was playing as a medic, and finally got the hang of it. I was racking up the points and with 10 kills to go, we get booted (no points).

Does anyone have any thoughts about playing with a clan tag like "DVD" as in DVDTalk? Sometimes it's interesting to see how easy it can be to be intimidated by a whole clan rolling in on the other side and it may be fun to return the favor.
Thoughts?

We grouped up in a building, me as a recon, Beefy as an assualt, and Nich82 as a medic. Id throw down a wiffle ball, Nich would thrown down health, and Beefy would throw down ammo and we held that room for like 40 kills. THe random ran around and thinned the herd out side the building, I mortor striked any tank that got close, and Nich82 kept bringing us back...constant points for all of us. It was awesome fun....right up until someone got smart enough to C4 the wall behind us and then we were fucked.

Yeah, if I'm not having fun in a game, a fun one is usually only a couple of clicks away.
I also hate getting dropped...but I'll tolerate it for those random fucking awesome team moments like those described above...or for the epic moments where walls are exploding all around you while you shoot motherfuckers in the face...or for those times when you're running along and find a dude shooting your guys from high ground but with his back to you.
As a medic, I'm also a big fan of those times when you and a teammate run into a lone wolf and he kills your buddy right before you light him up with your SAW...and then you revive your buddy (knowing that the other guy is watching and cursing) to a reaffirming "thanks dude"...and the two of you are on your way. Makes me want to have coke and smile.
