re: Battlefield Talk

I've been doing a little pin, star, and insignia hunting lately and wanted to drop some mines on Bravo and Charlie in the Panama Canal map because it seems like the best two spots to lay mines for some kills.

Lo and behold, I'm randomly dropped into the same game as nearly the entirety of the clan I joined last week! I'm only PSN friends with one of them and he wasn't even online. That's got to be the strangest coincidence I've had while playing an online game, ever.

Another memorable BFBC2 coincidence: I happened into a squad with a guy who was one of the first dogtags I nabbed (he nabbed mine, too). I remembered the name because when I was brand-new, I would look at the user names of the players I knifed pretty closely. I mentioned this to him and he chuckled, saying that yeah, my user name was familiar, too. We ended up as PSN friends and squad up every now and then.

What about you? Any interesting coincidences while playing BFBC2?

re: Battlefield Talk

I've run into the same group of 4-6 guys that seem to play every major multiplayer FPS together: It started in CoD4, then BFBC1, CoDWaW, MW2, BFBC2, MoH and CoDBlOps. I've Played with them in AC:Brotherhood. And even played the demo for Homefront with them.

re: Battlefield Talk

Agreed on that cartoon.

Unless I'm in a particular hurry (see below), I will wait a few seconds, even honk the horn a few times, before leaving deployment.

I will say that, in a map like Laguna Alta or Harvest Day when it's imperative to get to checkpoints as soon as possible, I will hop on a quad and drive there without waiting. It's up to my squadmates to spawn in on the back of the quad so that as soon as I arrive, there are two of us moving the flag and laying mines / pulling out the Carl Gustav to take out the quads and CAVs coming from the other team. If I see that those maps or other maps like it are coming up next, I'll tell my squad my plan and hope they'll follow suit.

re: Battlefield Talk

As long as I have teammates and they aren't douchebag snipers, I always always always spawn on a teammate rather than at the base.

I can generally find somebody doing something productive and help them out.

just to let everyone know, I completed the et tu brute trophy by stabbing my brother. It was enjoyable, but it would have been better if it was R2.

re: Battlefield Talk

If anyone played yesterday, you may have experienced the weird anomaly so many players did - everyone appeared to be set back to Level 0 when they first started playing! As one played, eventually the game's brain kicked in and said, "Oh, wait! These guys are Level 23s and 42s and 50s! My bad!" and all of the gear came back. For me, it was great. As many of you know, I haven't touched Recon or Assault beyond a few minutes on my first day playing. Seemed like an even playing field for me to give Recon a whirl.

It's an interesting class, very different play feel than Engineer or Medic. Even from one day of playing, I understand the class a lot better now. It takes much more patience to snipe than I'm used to having in this game and calculating for distance and gravity drop and all of that no longer leaves me surprised when I'm running around and hearing shots go whizzing past me. I still haven't quite figured out the motion ball but I'm sure that will come with time. I managed to C4 four tanks in an hour. It's so easy, I don't know how this doesn't happen three seconds after anyone steps into a tank on any map! It's just like when I'm playing an Engineer and someone hops into a CAV, Cobra, or Humvee - I'm immediately whipping out the Carl Gustav and I'm getting 100+ points out of your poor decision.

I'd forgotten how satisfying it is to unlock weapons and upgrades! All that wonderful clicking, drum-rolling, and weapon-cocking! I'm going through each weapon, one at a time, to earn the bronze star. I called it a night when I bronze starred the first sniper rifle and will continue that way until I finish the class and then... it's on to Assault.

I still have five kills to earn with Engineer on my M136 AT4 rocket launcher (just never touched it) and then that's all finished, too. Got the land mine kills and submachine gun insignias. I would like to go back and get at least 2000 kills with the Carl Gustav before I inevitably put down the game and move on to Battlefield 3 and/or when the baby is born in September. I'm at 1860 kills so we'll see if it happens.

Nice! I finally got it, too, by stabbing... man, I forget! I think it was one of the MOB guys.

Oh, and Darth Vong's friend, Jack (some of you have played with him), would like me to invite you to join the MOB clan: http://inthemob.webs.com/apps/forums/

Happens from time to time.

It's a fun class for the douchily inclined, but I use it almost solely for destructoring buildings and always with some variant of shotgun.

I called it a night when I bronze starred the first sniper rifle and will continue that way until I finish the class and then... it's on to Assault.
I probably would have rolled Assault first. It has some pretty tasty weapons, and if you want to rock C4, you can do the shotgun/C4 combo combined with point whoring your ammo drops.

I'd like to start our own clan, and if it's available, I'd like to roll with CHW.

I miss this damn game...hell, I even miss Slider and Nic!

see, i think the Wiffle balls make recon worth playing.
Recon with the G3, wiffle balls, and mortor stirke or C4 is my default right now.

I'm in, even though he would have puked while playing battlefield.

Slider joined our last Warhawk night. But that's the only time I've seen him on recently.

Chew played Battlefield on a few occasions. I remember chess schooling Chew his first night with the game. He played a couple of times after that, but he never really got into it.

I have to work tonight so I won't be on at all. I expect everyone to snipe someone with a Carl Gustav at least once for me.

From the first time I revived a dude, I was just hooked on the medic. My favorite thing is spawning on a couple of teammates who are in trouble, lighting up the guys they are engaged with, and then reviving....always kill, then revive.

The recon class can also be played in a way that gets you "in the shit", but the wiffle ball doesn't seem to have that much of an advantage over simply spotting with the select button.

He played once or twice and did OK...and he and I ran all the way through Borderlands and all expansions.

Guess he never got that mic as promised either.

Hope he's just busy and doing OK.

Nic is good to have around as dogtag bait.

It's definitely helpful in areas with multiple levels or around houses or garages that you can't see directly into or out of. Plus, you can toss it in the direction of shots coming from inside/behind cover without needing to standup and wait for the telltale flashes and the blood-clouded vision that ensues.

re: Battlefield Talk

douchey moment: Monday night.

R2 and I jumped into a squad deathmatch where it was 2 on 1 and eventually 3 on 1. Not much action. I went to the tank and loaded it up with c4 and waited. The 1 guy on the other team jumps in the tank. hilarity ensues. R2 even told me I was wrong.

Yeah, i love medic too...i go back and forth between thsoe 2 classes most nights. It really depends on who I'm playing with.

As far as the wiffle ball goes, on conquest I'll toss it at a house when Im running up on it to see if there are people inside, or if I am taking sniper fire from a field, Ill toss a couple in there. Or if Im taking a flag or planting a bomb, or using the UAV, Ill toss one at my feet so i know where people are, or how close they are.

We played some rush the other night, and there were multiple recon balls across the area where the attackers were coming from, and they lit up every person crossing into our zone (not that it helped us).

On a side note, this one was for Slider...the other night Nic and I were playing some Squad Death Match and it was 2 on 1, because everyone else quit...then a guy joined out squad, so it was 3 on one. He was a mute, but he spawned in the tank i was using to to blow up all the houses while we were hunting the other guy...we were rolling along and i just made an abrupt left turn right over a cliff into the water...TEAMKILL...

haha...same map I was just talking about. the funniest part about this was that the "loaded it up with c4 and waited". it took about 5 minutes for the other guy to get in the tank...i would have been way too ADHD to wait that long.

I didn't wait the whole time. I left, killed him, then came back.
