Cool. Lee and Shumway, you've been added. Cruze, I sent you a request.

To be clear, Lee's not on the forum. He's an old buddy of mine, but he's more likely to help you out and give you tips than any of these dickbags.

I just bought Bad Company 2. I'm a total n00b at these games, but I'll give it a go if you need another victim. LOL!

Hopefully we'll see you Friday night...or I'm on periodically over the weekend usually.

Actually, you'll be on our squad/team more often than not, and you're going to love the game. Despite some odd quirks and bugs on the front end, the actual game engine is just about the most sophisticated piece of software I've seen.

Tried an Onslaught online game and did ok. Got 23 kills and only died twice.
But I shouldn't assume...you could just be a badass medic.

It's a bit hectic but fun. I'll be there on Friday for sure. Sent ya a friendo request too. What time Friday EST?

Don't listen to chess. He's always looking for ways to pee in your cornflakes
The campaign is great fun. I really enjoyed it. Unfortunately chess is right in that the multiplayer is pretty good.
Oh boy, here we go.
Once you get a feel for the game you'll figure out that an agressive, spotting recon can be as effective as any other class.

Those sound suspiciously like sniper numbers.
You'll find that pure snipers are generally frowned upon in Conquest and Rush as they don't really help the team much, and BC2 is all about team play.

The best thing a sniper can do on Conquest or Rush is chill out a good hundred yards away from a target and snipe people who are trying to enter and capture/demolish/save the point.

The campaign is honestly just OK. Multiplayer is where it's at.

Cool...will look out for that. We usually start around 7-8 CST and play well into the night. Last week we played until about 1AM CST.

Re: Return of the Weekly Rotating Games Night (PS3)
It's even worse advice for Conquest, where you have objectives spread all over the map and the other team can move flags under all kinds of cover.
The only way you're really of any utility to your team is if you aggravate somebody on the other team enough that they get distracted. In Conquest, I simply ignore snipers unless my team is way ahead, and then I go sniper stabbin'.
As I said, pure snipers are worthless. Recon guys who use their motion detectors at objectives and C4 on tanks are another matter entirely.
Here's Slider on BC2:

Played BBC2 some more today. Didn't do too bad. I was playing conquest. I'm just trying to get a feel for the actual game mechanics at this point. I've noticed there is an actual strategy to this one. Been playing Assault since I don't know enough to actually do the other things yet.
I don't care to play the sacrificial lamb for you guys until I earn my wings. LOL

I had a Amazon gift card that I got for my birthday last week, so I ordered BFBC2 yesterday. Should be here by Friday. If I do pop on, it will literally be my first time ever playing, so we'll see if we can make it work. Also, how are the update/install times for this one? I probably won't be able to pop it in to do that until I get home from work on Friday.

It is a pretty big install from the beginning. Took me a couple of hours on a DSL connection at high traffic time.

Then I'll probably be iffy for Friday, unless I can get the wife to pop it in as soon as it arrives... but she also uses the PS3 to play Sesame Street DVD's for my daughters during the day, so I don't know if that'll be possible.

Got the clan invite, but no one was online!
Got stuck in the DLC map loop again last night in Warzone. The group I got stuck with was ok, but the lowly medic (Me) had to do all the work. At least I got a nice 5 kill long streak clearing out a room with my bot and my LMG!

Don't worry about being new. A team can afford to have a player or two who's still feeling things out.
I always recommend starting with the medic and just going after objectives in Conquest. You'll rack up tons of points whether you mean to or not, and Conquest is a little less like a meat grinder since it has 3-4 split objectives.

We play late into the night, so pop it in and have some dinner or something. We'll likely still be on when it's done.
