I always recommend starting with the medic and just going after objectives in Conquest. You'll rack up tons of points whether you mean to or not, and Conquest is a little less like a meat grinder since it has 3-4 split objectives.
Cool! I'll do that tonight then. I'll be on at around 10pm my time (9pm CST) I'm excited! WOOT!!! Not sure if my bluetooth headset works though so ya may not be able to hear me. I did get it synced with the PS3 and the mic tested ok according to that, but I haven't tried to actually speak to anyone during the game itself.

Check the first post of the Warhawk thread. I think chess has some settings for the blutooth that will minimize the annoying feedback.

Re: Return of the Weekly Rotating Games Night (PS3)

Good times in BC2 tonight! At one point, we had 8 of 10 people on a team in 3 different squads, but we were sufficiently good that we chased the other team off. Late in the night, we were getting beat up pretty bad.

Hope those last matches didn't frustrate the new guys too much. It's normally not quite so bad.

I did have at least 4-5 Ace pins...so that was cool.

I had fun, but I've never been partiuclarly good at FPS, so it'll probably take me a while to get used to it. Also, sorry to drop off so suddenly without saying goodbye, I had to go take care of a crying baby.

Re: Return of the Weekly Rotating Games Night (PS3)

All good Cactus, and you can be very effective in this game without being a good shooter player. I'm almost always in the top 3-4 players, but my kill to death ratio is garbage.

Who was on when Vong's kid yelled "DUNEBUGGY!!!!"? I had to bite my tongue because I didn't know if the people on had seen the video, but I was laughing my ass off. The kids were actually hilarious telling him what to do and then finally with a "Can I try?". I was hoping for a "Get a job!", Spatula-style.

Tons of funny stuff last night.

Edit to add: I had a game with ~6,500 points last night and something like 20 pins/dogtags. Crazy.

I C4'd about fifteen enemy tanks last night. I think that is officially my job now as it is pretty much the only thing I can seem to accomplish.

That is useful (and funny).

Even as a medic, I contributed to this with my buddy "Alfredo". He says, "somebody get close to the tank so I can spawn in and C4 it". He kept the tank busy while I snuck into some bushes about 15 feet away from it. Fredo grenades himself, spawns in on me as a recon and BOOOM! Just like we planned it.

It was sweet just to be part of some devious teamwork, and I think you would have approved.

Cruz, have you tried hosting an MGS match? I could never figure out how.

LMAO! I thought of that video when he said it to me. Little bastard is better than me at the game and he's 9. My wife played the campaign today and now she's fuckin' hooked too. Grrrrr. She's gonna be arm-chairing it now when I play on Friday.

No I was going to post and see if you could illuminate on the finer points of MGS since you've got hundreds of hours in it.

It always said my router settings were not sufficient. I upgraded my internet service package two or three times and it still never let me create a room.

It occurs to me that Vong may not look at the Warhawk thread (though he should definitely get Warhawk as well.)

I think the highlight for me was a long range Gustaving of a sniper. That's gotta be a surprise!
Thinking I need to separate Battlefield from both this and the Warhawk thread...getting confusing.

That was fun as hell. Yes, I used your dumpster trick today while playing. Might have to go pick up Warhawk

The Gustav shots were hilarious!

Got a couple more dogtags today. I also crept into the douchebaggery of running over enemies with my dunebuggy. I clocked 3 of em in one game. LMAO!

Re: Return of the Weekly Rotating Games Night (PS3)

I don't know what you guys were talking about last night, "Slider is running for the hills," "Slider, that's not very productive," "Slider is just sitting there sniping..." I was whooping ass with that sniper rifle. At one point you two were sitting by a flag, four guys come riding up and I sniped three of them from a few yards away. I was also defending the shit out of that B objective sniping people who were trying to capture it. Also, multiple tanks were C4'd; fun all around. Looking forward to next Friday.

And yes, Vong, get Warhawk.

It was just funny because me and friz would be running to an objective and you were running up the hillside. I get the point of it. I just like being in the middle of it.

I'll check it out (Warhawk)

That's our Slider.

At least once or twice I was wrong about where you were, Slider, but most of the time you were wasting your energy. Holding B on that map is worthless if the other team is allowed to hold the other 3. Also, by camping at B, and with 3 of us on the team, you take away one of the two teammates that I can [want to] spawn on. Basically, you painted us into a corner at B.

On Harvest Day, the basic strategy is: hold A or D (depending on which side you're on, fight over C, and then press on A or D when you take C. You should only go after B when you hold all of the other 3, and even then it's not really smart since it's so easy to defend from that hillside and so easy to take the bases behind us from either home base.

It's cool that you want to snipe people who are converging on us, but I'd much rather you were doing it by my side, helping me move the flags faster. With 2 of us on the flag, it moved slow, and we'd often have to fight off 2-3 waves of dudes.

Still awesome awesome times...just wanted to explain my frustration.

@ Vong:

Glowing review from GameTrailers with only negatives (price and tutorial) no longer an issue:

I was watching some BFBC2 videos on youtube, and I stumbled across this, and I have to admit it cracked me up (sorry in advance if you don't share my sense of humor):

Re: Return of the Weekly Rotating Games Night (PS3)

Another night in Battlefield with Vong (dude is a fucking addict).

Good times giving him little tips and watching him get better.

I got the ace pin in a little more than half our maps and got a shartload of dogtags.
