But yeah, people are kinda pissed at the ending (or the lack of one) and Bioware's twitter is getting slammed about it - they're looking into what they can do... developing.
Bioware has been dropping all sorts of little hints about the future...that is giving even more ammo to those wanting a change

should I wait for the DLC alternate endings before progressing too far in the game?

It'd be dumb to have an alternate ending DLC. If they do anything, it'll most likely be an epilog DLC.

Re: Mass Effect 3

finally back to playing! 15 hours in or so...

Love the game. Running with the infiltrator on insanity is a blast. Mantis/tempest combo keeps my cooldown at plus 187% so I can throw incinerate and use cloak every 2.6 seconds. My bonus power is armor piercing rounds...so combined with disruptor ammo I can take down any protection in seconds.

I don't think there is going to be a alternate endings DLC.

Re: Mass Effect 3

Finished last night.

I agree that the ending is a disappointment, but I'm not going to get mad about it or demand Bioware do my bidding.

Yeah, it was such bullshit. The Crucible is destroyed by the Reapers, the combined fleet is losing badly, and suddenly a phone booth appears on the bridge of the Normandy and a guy steps out, says "I'm the Professor, and I'm here to help" and then it cuts to black?

Re: Mass Effect 3

Ran into my favorite ME2 character tonight!

(Grissom Academy mission spoiler)
Spoiler:
Jack is back! She was my romantic interest in ME2, so I was glad to see her back. I really like the new character design for her, and her new role as a teacher makes for a really interesting character arc, given her origin story. It's unfortunate that she doesn't join the Normandy crew, but at least I got to see some closure to/follow-up on the relationship between her and Shepherd. I also thought that the crew of young biotic soldiers had a bit of an X-Men feel to it, and it's a good fit for Jack's personality.

It's kind of impressive how many of the returning characters only show up in the optional side missions. I'm going to make a point of playing through all of them.

I'm a pretty conscious paragon player, but that fucker deserved to be punched in the gut, I didn't even think twice when the icon popped up.

Spoiler:
That Quarian admiral that opened fire on the Geth dreadnaught while Tali, Liara, and I were still on it.

I did the exact same thing in my paragon playthrough. Pretty amazing when your emotions override your gaming instincts!

Re: Mass Effect 3

I bought the "From Ashes" DLC on day 1 because I got a $10 credit from Amazon when I ordered and I love the Mass Effect games.

Anyway, I just played through the mission tonight and for those that were complaining earlier that it must be integral to the main storyline because of the squad mate you get.......its not.

Spoiler:
The mission is to investigate what Cerberus is doing Eden Prime. You find out that they dug up a Prothean statis chamber. The rest of the mission is figuring out how to open it.
When you open it, you get some cool dialogue options and some nice flashbacks to Prothean civilization. As for the main quest though, the Prothean basically just says "i was a soldier, I know nothing about this super weapon and I have no super secret awesome way to fight the Reapers. Sorry." And then that's it.

On a totally separate note, since it would be neat to know: did anyone have Thane die in Mass Effect 2? If so,

Spoiler:
who shows up at the Citadel in the first action there where it is overtaken by Cerberus? Thane is in the hospital with Ashley in the beginning of the game.

The mission itself is extremely short, but as a squadmate he's fully integrated into the game, just like any of the others. He's definitely no Kasumi or Zaeed as far as being an obvious late addition. There are a number of conversation scenes with him throughout the game if you visit regularly on the Normandy, he has mission-specific dialogue, and other team members have dialogue with him or about him throughout the game, even mission-specific banter. He also shows up in some of the key moments throughout the game, providing a lot of important and interesting (if not "vital," I guess) information and background. All further evidence that the content was developed alongside the game and excised to be sold as DLC, to me.

So no, the mission itself isn't integral to the main storyline, but I can't imagine playing through the game without the squadmate now that I've done it almost three times. He's one of my standard choices on most missions, in fact.

Then it's possible through a few more choices that Mordin survives and goes to work on the Crucible.

I found that the renegade option was the only viable option most of the time in ME3, and I'm almost purely a paragon player.

The Prothean is a helluva lot more relevant than Zaeed, who is in the game proper but is given even less to do than when he was DLC.

Re: Mass Effect 3

My N7 CE of ME3 arrived in the mail today! Just installed it!

I'm really digging Amazon Prime's free shipping.

Oh and I just downloaded the soundtrack that came with my CE. I gotta say that it's disappointing that Clint Mansell only contributed two tracks (and he only did one on his own).

Re: Mass Effect 3

I've been disappointed with a lot of Movies endings. But i would never think to demand a writer or director change the ending. What makes these idiot gamers think they have a right to demand a games ending be changed???
