Re: Mass Effect 3

Ok I broke down and got this. One question: I don't get what the left trigger does while in a system. It pings but nothing happens. I do it several times around planets, no difference.

Also, can you not scan/mine planets anymore?

Re: Mass Effect 3

The ping lets you know when there is something to scan in the area that it hits (planets or otherwise). Not all systems have scannable planets or retrievable items.

Re: Mass Effect 3

That's the only annoying thing about the scanning, really, is not knowing when there's nothing in the first place. I don't mind the percentage not showing up until you've got something, but it would be nice to know that I'm wasting my time in some areas.

Hey Supermallet - what was the Most Epic Thing Ever Seen that you talked about? Give a general hint before spoiler so I know if I should read or not.

Or that you go in and scan only finding something useless like fuel then having to escape the reapers. I was doing those overheard conversation quests for a while but damn that got old fast.

Re: Mass Effect 3

Protip when dodging in and out of systems where Reapers are chasing you: the orientation of your ship determines your entry point. For example: ship points up, you enter the map at the bottom.

Cool I think I'm mostly at 100% already, but that's good to know.

Re: Mass Effect 3

Judging from the emails on my private terminal, we're about to have a massive orgy in my quarters!

Also, I haven't played a single game of MP yet so my galactic readiness is still at 50%, but my war assets green bar is about 2/3 full. I don't foresee a problem maxing it out through SP alone, especially with how many quests I just picked up around the Citadel. Good Lord!

Re: Mass Effect 3

For some reason, though, the green bar doesn't appear to correspond very clearly with the numbers. I'm not sure what threshold the bar represents, but it was maxed out way before I was at the end of the game, and my readiness numbers kept climbing as I picked up more assets. The ideal number to have is supposedly at least 5,000 readiness, and I'm pretty sure my green bar was maxed out long before I got that much (maybe I'm misremembering). I ended the game with almost 7,000.

Oh, and enjoy your quest journal starting in the middle of the long list every time, and having to manually scroll all the way to the top to see your active quests.

I figure I'm about half-way through the campaign right now and it's really cool to see my decisions, especially from ME1, coming through this far. It's really making me want to start all the way over and play a very different character to see what replaces things like the rachni queen or the genophage.

Re: Mass Effect 3

A couple of observations after the first few missions on Insane:

1) Cerberus troops spam grenades like this is COD: World at War.
2) It's good to see that teammates still enjoy moving directly into my line of fire and blocking me from taking the best cover spots.

A choice I made all the way back in ME1 really screwed me over midway through ME3.

You can still set points with the Dpad for where your squad positions...not that it works 100% of the time.

2 Columnists at Forbes are asking Bioware to address the concerns
Spoiler:
with the endings

http://www.forbes.com/sites/erikkain...controversy/2/

I believe Bioware should release a free bit of DLC to all its players, one that produces an “alternate ending” for the game. From a programming perspective, it wouldn’t be much work. It would be probably a few minutes of dialogue, and fifteen minutes of cutscenes. Three sets of five minutes would be devoted to fleshing out each of the final decisions made in the game, and would give players a more hearty ending than the cookie cutter, cryptic one they received.

It seems like a win-win to me. Releasing free DLC would show that they’re not greedy tyrants exploiting the concept of bonus content. Updating the ending with more substance would show that they can admit when they’re wrong, and fans would likely breathe a collective sigh of relief as they got some much needed resolution.

Is that a spoiler because of length or actual spoilers? I don't know what the concerns are and I don't know if I want to know.

Re: Mass Effect 3

Outside of alluding to the consensus that the ending is unsatisfying, it doesn't reveal anything about the actual ending. So if you think that the overriding opinion that the ending is not satisfying is a spoiler, well then too bad. But since now I know that it's not satisfying, I've adjusted my expectations accordingly.

But yeah, people are kinda pissed at the ending (or the lack of one) and Bioware's twitter is getting slammed about it - they're looking into what they can do... developing.

Staying an objective fact such as "so-and-so dies" is a spoiler. Stating a subjective opinion such as "it's unsatisfying" is not. I only know how some people feel about the ending - I still have no idea how it ends.

Re: Mass Effect 3

Yet you thought about it enough to consider some might feel it more than just general, subjective musing to say this:

If you're going to actually think about how others might feel then maybe you're on to something. I'd go with the paragon path next time.
