I'm tempted to get the Squier but I'm pretty happy with the Mustang and already have enough guitars including a Fender Strat with a MIDI pickup. Yeah I'll keep telling myself that ;)

Yeah, I was on board early on, but with the Mustang and a black Strat already, it's really tough to justify. Let's see how long that lasts.

It seems like they're not defective, but maybe not "tuned" right straight out of the box. I had to adjust the tension on some of the strings to get them to register better. It also seems you can move the pickup closer in order to get more sensitivity as well, but I haven't tried that yet.

I'm going to be swapping out the strings this weekend, as I'm a lefty. I think I'll get slightly heavier strings, as that should help the detection a little bit more than just adjusting the pickup.

I had a similar problem with my RB2 drumset that I got right when RB2 released. It would double-hit all the time and was super sensitive. I took it back that same day and got another one with the same problem. I popped the heads off on the suspect pads and tightened the piezos and it's been perfect ever since.

Let's go ahead and disable the auto-loading of every bit of DLC each time I start the game, m'kay? I have no problem telling Rock Band to scan when I know something is new. Have it be an option, I don't care. I just get so sick of sitting there for sometimes a full minute watching the game scan when I just want to play some songs.

RB2 didn't do that, did it? I can barely remember, but it seems like DLC was part of the saved game file or something.

Die Toten Hosen's Heir Kommt Alex and Oasis' Rock N Roll Star (?) still do not work in RB3. They fixed some of the inactive tracks with the patch (the ones that had a 0 where there was supposed to be a 1). However, these two tracks are being purposely kept out of the game, since they're not available on the European marketplace and they want to keep things "fair".

Nothing. I was explaining to L&O what "inactivate" was referring to.

I've got no idea why they can't think of a better way to keep tabs of what you have and what you don't. If you think your load times are bad, I've got almost 900 "contents" to load each time. God help me if I want to delete an RBN demo after I play it and it has to reload everything again.

No idea if it really matters, but the manual (bottom of page 11) says using heavier than .009-.042 strings will void the warranty and possibly damage the guitar. Just a heads up if you were unaware.

Oh, man. I might regret this, but I just ordered a Squier from a Best Buy in Gainesville, GA...about a two hour drive each way from where I am. It's ready for in-store pickup now, so I guess I'm making a road trip tonight.

bestbuy.com won't tell me if they have a PS3 MIDI adaptor, so...um...here's hoping?

Call them up and ask them to check their internal stock. BB.com only shows things as "Available" if there are 3+ in stock. I called mine and they had just the one 360 adapter available, so I had them hold it. You might get lucky too.
