I leave it on there to annoy family members that bitch about video games but yet spend a lot of time on social networks and other social business. Plus, it gives other video game playing facebook friends a chance to see what I'm playing and ask questions about games and vice versa.

You know, this is one case where the HDD encryption is backfiring on them. If I could just transfer my 640 GB HDD to the new PS3, I probably would, but since my old 60 GB model still works and since the transfer is impossible now, I'll just keep mine going until it dies.

Re: The Official PS3 thread - Aaaaannnnnnddddd we're back!

I have a dumb question since I just recently bought a PS3. When I watch a Blu-ray movie and stop it in the middle and turn of the system, why doesn't it resume to that exact same spot like it does with DVDs?

That feature has to be built into the particular blu-ray, not all of them do that.

I thought it was all BD-Live discs couldn't do that, but any BD disc that doesn't have the Java menu system would resume like a dvd. I may be wrong though.

I think you're sort of right. If it doesn't have any fancy sort of java-menu, resume will work. You can tell this, if in the XMB, the disc is only identified as "BD-DVD" and not the specific title with an icon. Another clue is if the "X" button works as pause & play instead of having to use "start" on the controller. But, as stated, just because it is a Java menu, they could have built in their own custom resume function.

Thanks all. Didn't think that feature would be so complex.

So you can get NFL Sunday Ticket on the PS3. If you don't have DirecTV account, it's regular price. If you do have DirecTV, it's $50 to add the PS3 as an "authorized" receiver. Sort of cool to broaden the user base, but that $50 fee is ridiculous.

With the latest update, the "Automated Update" feature is supposed to synchronize your saves to the cloud (PS+ members only). Mine ran for the first time this morning, I will have to remember to check and see what it did.

...as is the $340 fee for those without DirecTV. Guess I'm sticking to Red Zone. Or to the Sports Book when Indy or KC is playing an non-televised game I really want to see.

How is the $340 fee ridiculous? That's would people would pay for the package normally. It's expensive, but you get alot for that price You think you should get it cheaper just because you aren't a DirecTV consumer or do you think it should just be cheaper in general?

I didn't realize it was anywhere near that expensive. All the ads seem to indicate it's free with DirecTV now.

It really makes the ad-free Red Zone channel -- $39.99 for the season -- seem like an even better deal.

It's free for new customers. although if you are out of contact, you can usually get a deal on Sunday ticket.

Unfortunately DirecTV doesn't offer the Red Zone channel individually, but you can call up retention and try to get them to authorize it. I am getting it this year for free. I don't care about all the other game channels. I just want the Red Zone channel.

I wish for this and MLB it wouldn't black-out your local team. The red sox & patriots are the only thing tying me to cable now...

Ditto for NHL Gamecenter. I'm thinking I might just deal with watching away games and drop cable.

Re: The Official PS3 thread - Aaaaannnnnnddddd we're back!

Article here about MLB reconsidering their blackout rules. I think this year is better -- I've caught a few live games that would have been blacked out previously. Last year (at least), here in Vegas we have/had six teams (Dodgers, Angles, Padres, Diamondbacks, Giants, A's) that have every one of their home and away games blacked out. That's up to 40% of all MLB games on weekdays and more blackout restrictions on the weekends.

It was announced like a month ago that it was pushed back until next year, they just didn't give a specific date until PAX.
