Well, they don't actually disappear, but they remain unplayable until you re-up your membership. Seriously, since you can join now and be assured of $100 worth of Freebies this week and also be set for another 51 weeks for $50, it seems like a pretty great deal to me.

It seems like a lot -- about 100 or so. But I've never bought a theme, just freebies and PS Plus ones. I have no idea why there should be any limit besides the space on your hard drive.

I was surprised as well by the number of free games yesterday. I'm surprised Sony didn't make a bigger deal out of it. It was barely even mentioned on the PS Blog yesterday in the store update post.

I'm not even that into playing games on my PS3 and even I signed up for PS+ when it started. It's been a great investment.

Is anyone else having an issue getting the Fatal Intertia EX Trial Version? I have the upgrade downloaded but the Trial Version doesn't show up in the store anywhere unless I search for it, and then when I try to select it I'll get a pop up that says "this content cannot be accessed on your account".

Didn't have any trouble getting Fatal Inertia going. Didn't expect it to be a kart racer either. Also didn't expect the one listed as a kart racer to be a fun, but hard to control soccer kart game.

I think unfortunately if you download the upgrade first, you get locked out of downloading the demo. That's my guess, as I am unable to download it, but I can go into my gf's account and download.

I might try deleting the Upgrade install and see if that opens it back up.

Deleting the upgrade key did not help.

No problems for me. I never downloaded the trial, just the full game when it went free.

I only signed up couple of weeks ago and I'm kicking myself for not signing up sooner especially when they had that promotion of one year plus 3 additional months.

Re: The Official PS3 thread - Aaaaannnnnnddddd we're back!

anyone have the ps3 3D Display? I bought one and it has an awful green hue color issue on the right side of the screen. I exchanged it for another one and it has the same issues. Is this common with this display?

Any news on when the PS3 will be able to decode the True HD Audio tracks? I really want to watch Transformers 3 in 3D but the audio can't be played uncompressed so I'm waiting.

pretty sure all PS3's can decode TrueHD (and DTS-MA) and pass as PCM. but only the Slim can Pass them through as-is for your receiver to decode.

They can't do it when a 3D movie is playing though.

Re: The Official PS3 thread - Aaaaannnnnnddddd we're back!

I'm baaaaack! Thanks to a trade in deal at Gamestop this weekend (dumped an old 360 for $140, and an old iPhone for another $65) I finally picked up the Uncharted 3 Slim bundle to replace my 60GB launch unit/door stopper. Feels more solidly built, but looks cheaper than the glossy.

So, I've been out of the PS3 world for about a year, what did I miss? I know I missed the two big dogs GoWIII & Uncharted 3. Any cool little PSN exclusives worth noting? I see Journey is finally here, but I'm not to convinced on the $15 price.

I tell you one thing I didn't miss... I plugged in my new console at 1:45 and proceeded to queue up the 16 games I already own to download/install/update. It's now after 9pm and the PS3 is still chugging away. These aren't retail games either, their tiny friggin games on a 10MB cable line. Sheesh. The list is below. Recommend something cool I missed out on based on that list. Unfortunately I lost all my saves. Oh well, at least I'm back in the game.

Couple more things, it came with one month of PS+ do those deals/offers apply to the free month & does it roll over on the 1st of the month? Any deals on PS+ lately?

Spoiler:

Echochrome
Everyday Shooter
Flock
Flow
Flower
High Velocity Bowling
Lemmings
Noby Noby Boy
Pain
PixelJunk Eden
PixelJunk Monster
PixelJunk Shooter
Ragdoll Kung-fu
Ratchet & Clank: Quest for Booty
Shatter
Trine

Infamous Festival of Blood is supposed to be a cool PSN exclusive

Re: The Official PS3 thread - Aaaaannnnnnddddd we're back!

Yeah that Infamous Festival of Blood is pretty cool and is $5 for PS Plus members right now (I think the sale is good for another week, but you may want to grab it by tomorrow just to be safe).
Haven't seen any deals on PS Plus since that glorious Target misprint that gave a lot of us a year for $14. Believe me, it's worth $50/yr, especially if you've been out of the loop for a while.
I just bought Dungeon Hunter in the Annual Sale. It's far from great, but it's a decent hack and slash Action RPG for dummies. Looks good too for a downloadable game. Not a bad deal for current sale price of $6, especially when you realize that basically the identical game is being sold for $40 on the Vita (but that's an insane, rip-off price; it's not worth anywhere near that much.
BTW : if you're interested in Motorstorm Apocolypse, shoot me a PM. I have an extra sealed copy I could part with in a trade or something.
And yeah, you get in on all the PS Plus deals during the free month. Anything you buy with the discount is yours to keep. Anything you pick up for free (like the current offer -- the surprisingly not-too-dated and highly enjoyable Sly Cooper HD) will be inaccessible when your subscription runs out, but will be available again when you re-up.
And cruzness forgot to mention InFamous 2 which was a top-10 game of 2011 in my book. Loved that one. You could probably find LBP2 GOTY Edition pretty cheap (came with the Holiday bundle, no online pass). That was a cool game as well.

Is it a continuation of the main story (Infamous 2) or a totally separate/stand alone entry? I haven't even started 2 yet...

Did you by chance pick up the PlayStation 3D Display? I picked one up about a week ago at Best Buy ($299.99 + extra glasses + MLB 12), but I haven't opened it yet. I'm still debating on either adding the warranty (definite if I keep it), or returning it, and holding out for a larger 3D at some point.

Totally seperate. Kinda silly too. They sort of have moral choices on how evil vs brooding vampire you want to be but it has literally zero consequences one way or the other.

No. I have a 60" Sharp Quatron LED 3D HDTV and that game in 3D is pretty sweet with pedestrians bouncing off the hood of you car and fling towards the camera.

Tough call for you -- that's a really good deal, but kind of a small TV. But seriously, that's a bargain if you don't mind the size.

Re: The Official PS3 thread - Aaaaannnnnnddddd we're back!

I've got a 160GB PS3 Slim and for a couple months now, when I download a demo or whatnot, it tries to install, gives an error, then I have a listing for "corrupted data" in the games list. Now that it's happening to the free PS games offered through gold, it's really starting to annoy me. I did a search on it, and all people say is "try it again". I did and still get the same problem. I've got about 20GB free on the hard drive, so space shouldn't be a problem.

Any ideas on what to do to fix this?
