I do it for the lulz. I should apply for Xbox support.

It's either this or work.

After you installed it, did it get quiet?

Yes.

Fixed!

On demand CES Keynote feed.
http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/e...liveevent.aspx

Very little 360 stuff, but that Avatar Kinect feature is actually cooler than I had thought it would be.

<object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/DujMF_zJqPc?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/DujMF_zJqPc?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>

They claim to have sold 8 Million Kinects so far, which is way more than I thought at their inflated price with so few must-have games.

Is this just so they can insure that there will be no wang showing during video chats? I don't really see the need for my avatar to "chat" with my friends (of course, I never got into the whole Second Life thing either).

No Wang showing? I want boob! Really, isn't that the point of Kinect anyway? Surely, it isn't for actual gaming.

I want Kinect to map my actions exactly as that video showed. If I lose a point in volleyball and I flip off the screen, I want my avatar to actually flip off my wife's avatar... none of this "raising the whole hand" in the air crap.

Well, that was quick. This morning I reached 400 Bing points, which I quickly redeemed for a 400 MS point card. The code showed up in my inbox a little later in the afternoon. I thought it was supposed to take about a week, not that I'm complaining.

I wonder if this will bring an increase in the number of video podcasts which are avatars sitting around chatting.

I can think of several podcasts from users here that even seeing their avatars would make me vomit constantly. And I bet these video recordings are capped pretty stringently.

This reminded me to go check my account. Apparently the offer they're doing right now is you get one point for each search up to 20 a day. Through Jan 29. So if you do everyday between now and then, that's enough right there for another 400 point card.

I believe the offer for searches per day varies by account. For me it's only up to 8 points per day. Which kind of sucks, but it's still free points I guess.

Yeah, for me it's 16 per day. With bonus searches I should be able to score another one by the end of the month.

I can only get 10 per day. But right now, it's only 1 seach for 1 point when it's usually 10 seaches for 1 point

I had 25 points a day at a point a search for December but no bonuses. They cut it for this month to 20 a day at 1 point for 2 searches, but added 6 point bonuses every couple of days.

Hmm.. seems pretty random. Right now I get two bonuses a day for 12 points, and 1 point per search for another 20. Lowest I've gotten was 16 back in November.

re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines

I'm at CES right noe. The Microsoft booth was very lame, game-wise. Want to try Halo Reach? Here's your chance! Folks were lining up to play Kinect Sports, Kinect Adventures and Dance Central. Since I choose to ignore those games in my living room, I decided to pass on them here. Only new game they were demo was that Poker one which is cute but certainly no big deal. I hope there are more games out on the floor and that the Sony booth is better. Disappointed so far.

CES isn't really a game showcase though, right?

It was when E3 fizzled. Not so much now.

Sony's booth features a lot of game demos and 3D gaming. Microsoft is focusing on Kinect and Windows 7 phones.
