Why isn't it? Just take the hard drive out of the proprietary case (just a few screws) and slip it into the slot in the new 360. You can spend $5 on ebay for a hard drive case for the 360s, but it isn't necessary.

I have done this for my kids 360s and several friends (picked up used 360 hard drives from gamestop when they were half price (~$20 for 120gb)

Well shit, I wish I had known this. From the little I read I saw that it was not compatible.

They "re-opened" the dashboard beta for those that missed it.

Unless you like ads I'd say wait until you're forced to update. :)

That was my question. Without breaking any NDA by giving details I simply wanted someone to give me a yes/no as to whether there was a neat or compelling reason to get into the beta now.

Sounds like a no.

There's one cool new feature, but we've lived without it for 7 years, what's another couple months? I'd say wait.

I like the "Pin" feature. It allows you to keep the apps and games you like on the Home tab. Other than that, all I notice is more ads and a busier interface.

I went with Dead Space 2, thanks. Cool so far; even my wife thinks it's cool.

Question, how many years can you stack on your XBL account? Mine expires in Nov 2014 and it won't let me add a 12 month card code. Should that be right? Or is it a bad code?

I think it was 3 years.

As fumanstan said, it's 3 years. So in November of this year you can add your 12 month code.

Downloaded the new dashboard beta last night and played around with it this morning. I do like the pin feature, I can see myself using that. The big new app is pretty cool, but it would be more useful if I had a keyboard to go with it. I can see myself using that too on occasion. Sadly it runs much faster than my laptop.

I figured ie would be a decent workaround to DailyMotion app being worthless but nope, just as useless in "the big new app."

34.95 for a year up on ebay from buy.com again

http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Xbox-360...06%26rk%3D1%26

just a reminder for those on the family plan...you can add these cards to a person not currently on the family plan and then add that person to the plan and get credit for that time. I bought 2 years for 69 bucks...if I add that to one of my kids and then add them to my plan I get 1 year of family for 69 (1 month for every 2 months on a normal gold plan)

I have 3 kids...so all 4 spots are taken on my family plan, so that runs me only 17 bucks a year for each gold. If you are already using 4 spots...after you get the cards, drop one of the members, add the 1 or 2 years you bought...and after a week add them back to your family plan to still get the benefit.

^ thanks for that. I have family plan and always assumed that I couldn't use the individual gold cards. Wish I would have known that last month when I renewed.

Can you clarify?

Today I start a family membership today with my wife and myself on it for one year. Tomorrow I start an individual one year membership for daughter number one and daughter number 2. The next day I add each daughter to the family plan. How long will my family plan be at that point.

(feels like a math test!!)

If your 2 daughters are added to your plan...and each has a year...you will get 1 total year added to your family plan ...you get one month for every two on each plan. If you bought the above cards that works out to 69 bucks for a year of family, compared to the normal price of 99 for a year.

Not sure if there's interest, but I started a thread in Streaming Talk for Xbox video deals and discounts. Strike Back, the Cinemax series, has the first two episodes free right now.

Notable Xbox Video Freebies, Discounts, New Additions, etc.

Those in the dashboard beta now have access to the Happy Wars (new free-to-play title) beta. It's under the new Beta channel on the dash.

Is Alan Wake American Nightmare worth it at half price? I only plan on doing the campaign, because I find horde-type modes yawn inducing...

my 12 year old son has decided he wants to save up for a nice set of wireless headphones
something about wanting to be able to turn down the game volume, but still hear his friends talking

he is leaning towards some turtle beach or astro headphones
i havent paid any attention to them myself..
so figured i would pop in here for opinions/recs first
