Great deal. They charge me tax in CA which is ridiculous. Still better than any other deal lately.

Surprised this hasn't been brought up yet, given the number of people with kids here. Maybe because I've only seen it mentioned on one gaming site.

The best part? No trailers or commercials!

Netflix tech provides each kiddo a personalized experience based on their use and taste. And as you'd expect, the whole shebang is Kinect enabled, letting kids use their voice to navigate.

It's been available on the PS3 for like six months.

Is the interface on the XBox still retarded? Oh, and JfK has been on AppleTV for ages too.

kid hospitalized after playing xbox for 4 days.

my favorite line

"“The Xbox is gone,” Rawlins told the station. "

good thing they fixed that problem....good thing they attacked the xbox as the source of the problem, and not a parent who allows this...

Saw that earlier.

[sarcasm]I thought your typical xbox gamer had a steady stream of Mtn. Dew and Doritos at their fingertips? [/sarcasm]

Saw this over at Gamespot that's a bit interesting....

New Version of Xbox Due In Next 18 Months

Job listing at Microsoft suggests company will roll out next iteration of Xbox console by February 2014 at the latest

A "new version" of the Xbox will be on store shelves sometime during the next 18 months, according to a new job advertisement at Microsoft.

"Over the next eighteen months, Microsoft will release new versions of all of our most significant products including Windows (Client, Server, Phone and Azure), Office, and Xbox, along with completely new offerings like Microsoft Surface," reads a line from the requisition

UPDATE] Following the publication of this story, a Microsoft representative told GameSpot, "Microsoft is always looking for talented people to innovate now and in the future. We don't have any further comment on this or any other job posting."

Wonder if that's in reference to the "720" or a new slim like PS3 is doing. Hopefully it's the former.

Anyone in the beta have any issues with Kinect? Mine is stuck on a permanent "starting up" loop.

So one of my old HDMI 360's finally got the RROD this past week. I rarely play video games on it but it's almost essential for streaming. I was just going to get the $199 4GB newer model but seeing as how I can't play my old KoTOR games on it without the hard drive I had to get the 250GB model. Not sure how I can justify $300 on a streaming device that I play 5 year old games but...

X-box "Durango" Dev Kit sold on ebay?

Despite plenty of leaks, Microsoft has yet to officially confirm that it's working on the next Xbox. But the first one may already have been sold.

An eBay auction over the weekend found a buyer for a purported Xbox 'Durango' Development Kit — a system game developers use to create games for the upcoming console. The buyer, who remained anonymous, shelled out $20,100 for the kit, which apparently looks like a black computer tower.

The sale comes with a load of questions, the foremost being: Is this thing real?

There's no way to know for sure. But the seller, who goes by the name SuperDaE, does have a track history of leaking information about the next Xbox, including the first images of Kinect 2.

SuperDaE boasted about the sale on his Twitter account, saying "I sold one of two I own. I still have the one that featured in news, the other one wasn't really necessary to keep as a leg rest." He also says his lawyers told him to "Go for it!"

Assuming that's true, he might want to reconsider his legal counsel. Development kits are never given or sold to game developers. They're leased -- and remain the property of the console manufacturer.

They're also in extremely short supply. And while there have been plenty of leaks, the NDA Microsoft has put into place surrounding Durango (the codename for the next system) has been called 'draconian' by people familiar with it.

I suggest he use that 20k that he got from the sale to hire a lawyer that isn't a fuckwit.

I like the part..."He also said his lawyers told him "Go for it".

...might as well told him to commit "hara kiri". Even if this is real, he could be related to Bill Gates and it won't save his butt.

I have the $5 TRU coupon so which way, if any: Dead Space 2 limited edition worth a $10 blind buy or Rage for $5 blind buy? I'm a very casual gamer with Nintendo roots who enjoyed Metroid Prime but pretty much only plays Battlefield Bad Company 2 and Battlefield 3, these days. Very limited time to play, too, and invest in a looong game that takes skill building / mastery. Thoughts?

Kinda hard to say no to any game at $5.

Well Rage is a FPS and it sounds like you enjoy those, but the bad news is it's a huge let down from the ones you named. The Dead Space series rock if you like a little action/horror gameplay. Splatterhouse can also be had for $5 but I didn't hear good things about that one.

Why isn't it? Just take the hard drive out of the proprietary case (just a few screws) and slip it into the slot in the new 360. You can spend $5 on ebay for a hard drive case for the 360s, but it isn't necessary.

I have done this for my kids 360s and several friends (picked up used 360 hard drives from gamestop when they were half price (~$20 for 120gb)
