Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread

Not necessarily true - this is still going to sell a shit ton of copies, because people think GH came first so it's best...ignoring the fact that HMX made GH.

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread

Looking at the VGChartz figures, it seems that GH sales are pretty steadily declining. Fewer and fewer people are buying the games based on name recognition alone, with GH5 selling much worse than GH:WT. I'd expect the trend to continue with GH: Fantasy Bullshit.

One can hope - but there are still scores of fanboys out there who eat, sleep and shit Guitar Hero and piss all over RB any chance they get.

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread

Sure, there are definitely GH fanboys out there, but I think that even their numbers are decreasing.

Pretty Handsome Awkward was one of my faves in GHIII.

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread

http://oneofswords.com/2010/08/buy-g...en-album-free/

The first million copies of the Warriors of Rock in North America come with Soundgarden’s new album, Telephantasm – and that album, which is a retrospective featuring the band’s biggest hits, won’t be commercially available for another week. You not only get it free, you get it early. Plus, owners of those specially-marked copies get the whole album as DLC as well, so you can play everything from Telephantasm in the game on day one.
Still not interested.

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread

So you get a $10 album free?

Yeah, giving away a free $60 game with GH5 didn't help, this won't either.

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread

Just came to post that same news. It just feels like they're all trying too hard.

I mean, I liked Soundgarden in 1995 and I liked Temple of the Dog. But I don't feel any desire to buy that album or have it bundled be enough to entice me into a purchase I wasn't already going to make.

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread

I want those tracks in Rock Band. I don't want to play them in Guitar Hero. Probably going to be some awesome stuff on that retrospective.

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread

Oh, it's just a greatest hits album? That's better for the game, but really less impactful as a necessary album pack-in.

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread

From what I understand, you get the album (CD) free, but you still have to pay for the DLC. This is from the USA Today article..

That song is also among the 90-plus songs playable in Warriors of Rock; the rest of the Telephantasm tracks can be purchased and downloaded immediately for playing in the game.

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread

So yeah, a $10 cd of greatest hits that most people probably already have.

On the flip side of the coin, at least they aren't charging $70 for it and calling it a Collector's Edition.

Well..it's certainly not as brilliant as giving away a copy of a yet to be released version of the game to the only people that would probably buy it off the shelf.

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread

You would have thought with Matt Cameron being in Pearl Jam, he could have had some influence on the other SG band members to let them know that ROCK BAND was the much better music game choice....

As a giant SG fan, I guess I have no choice but to get this silly game now....not for the "free CD" though (as I'll probably be buying the deluxe edition anyway), but to download and play all those SG songs....I'll wait until a price drop at least though!

It's an album of re-records though, right?

No, it is a new compilation/retrospective with one previously unreleased track, "Black Rain", which was recorded during the Badmotorfinger sessions...

Apparently Chris has added some new vocal parts to that track, but all the others are the originals...the deluxe 2 CD/1 DVD version will feature a few live and alternate tracks, but the regular 1 CD version only has all the standard studio tracks...

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread

Damn, Tones of Home is a great fucking track. And I was just wishing this morning about some Red Rider coming to rock band.

Still - not enough to make me spend $60 though.
