Original commercial for Guitar Hero: World Tour featuring supermodel Marisa Miller. Deemed too naughty for public viewing so they went with the Heidi Klum version instead.

Yeah the live versions of the Alice Cooper songs are fun to play. I'm coming around on live versions of stuff. I mean, you ARE playing live...

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread
My beef with live versions isn't the quality of the instruments or what you're playing, it's what you're singing. I primarily buy tracks to play with people (be it my daughters, my family, or my friends). What I don't want to force upon them is a vocal track they're unfamiliar with. I don't want it to be a chore or frustrating. It should be easy to already have memorized and just have them play the pitch. This is why I've had to pass on the Tom Petty stuff because it's just too foreign

). Live tracks more often than not screw up the vocals or at least alter them enough to mess you up. When it came to Alice Cooper, I couldn't handle the live tracks and only got the two studio songs (Poison, Vengeance is Mine)
Tom Petty, for most of it...it was the same way. However, I did pick up Mary Jane's Last Dance and it's actually close enough to where it doesn't matter.
Oddly enough though, I picked up the AC/DC Rock Band Track Pack which is all live and have no problem with those. I can't replicate Brian Johnson's voice to save my life, but that's a whole another ball of wax.

Edit: By the way, I'm talking about the Rock Band tracks...sorry for any confusion but I did want to speak about live vocals in general and why it's such a pain in the ass.

You know, I don't care for Metallica or GH:Metallica, but at least their commercial was blowing the shit out of that goddamn house and advertising that it was a, you know, music game.

Actually, Guitar Hero might be successful again if they got out of the music game scene and started up the Supermodel Simulation genre.

Guitar Hero world record attempt set to rock Aylesbury for 24 hours
- Single player Guitar Hero Marathon
- Saturday June 26th, 10am – til next day
- Stars bar and Café, Aylesbury
- Record attempt by Zeke Iddon, local copywriter
- Raising funds for the National Spinal Injuries Centre, Stoke Mandeville Hospital
An Aylesbury man is set to play the popular video game Guitar Hero for over 24 hours in an attempt to set a new Guinness World Record, as well as raise funds for the National Spinal Injuries Centre at Stoke Mandeville Hospital.
The record attempt will begin at 10am on June 26, with members of the public staying overnight at the Stars Bar (Market Square, Aylesbury) to witness the proceedings which will go on until at least noon on the 27th.
There is no official record for a single player marathon as of yet, but Guinness have set the initial bar at a minimum of 24 hours. Zeke Iddon, 26, the man attempting the feat, has his own optimistic target in mind.
“I’d love to try and push it beyond the 30 hour mark. But whether I can physically cope with staring constantly at a screen filled with moving dots for even 24 hours, let alone longer, remains to be seen. In saying that the whole town has been supportive of the fundraiser even before we’ve started… without that kind of encouragement, I wouldn’t ” he says.
Amongst the challenges of sleep deprivation, other challenges await him. Since the game involves a plastic controller simulating a guitar, repetitive strain injury is a large worry, as is boredom – Guinness have ruled that only one game from the series can be used for the duration of the attempt.
“I’m not nearly as fanatical about the Guitar Hero series as people initially suppose on hearing about the record, nor am I particularly any good. I do enjoy it but prefer playing the actual guitar much more… in fact, I’ve avoided playing the game recently, since the last thing I want to do is get sick of it in advance!”
And as for what his family think about the task ahead: “Ironically, my father has just had surgery for carpal tunnel on both wrists and my girlfriend has recently had surgery for severe tendonitis, brought on by excessive violin playing. Needless to say, neither of them think I’m being very clever.”
The event has been organized by Dan Blasor, an Aylesbury DJ and co-manager of the Stars Bar. Attendance is free up until 3am, at which point only those with pre-booked tickets can stay and watch the final stretch of the marathon.
“It’ll be an entertaining couple of days, if not for me but everyone who pops in. We’ve figured out a way for people to play the game alongside me without interrupting the record, which is cool,” adds Zeke. “More importantly, with the money raised through ticket sales and donations on the night and through the website, we hope to make a sizeable donation to the National Spinal Injuries Centre. Amazing work goes on there helping patients rebuilding their lives after a spinal cord injury.”

Goddammit... I might have to buy this now
http://rockbandaide.com/6105/more-ru...ar-hero-rumor/

Any guesses what Rush tune is coming to RB? The rumor is SUBDIVISIONS. I wouldn't object to that, but 2112 envy is kicking in.

http://rockbandaide.com/6105/more-ru...ar-hero-rumor/

There have been rumors lately of Rush’s “2112″ making its way into the next Guitar Hero, in its 20:32 entirety.
But Rock Band fanboys take heart. RockBand.com forum poster and apparent Rush junkie “Alvarado6411″ went to see Rush get their star on the Walk of Fame today. Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson were cool enough to walk around and sign things, Alvarado6411 was able to ask Geddy if we are “getting any more Rush songs in Rock Band?” Geddy was cool enough to respond with:
“Yea, GH: Warriors of Rock is getting a whole “2112″ level. Oh wait, you meant Rock Band, right? Yeah, the one with the keyboards; that one is getting one as well.”
We should probably keep this as a rumor for now, but I have a sneaking suspicion (and a credible source) that this is true.

Unfortunately, knowing Guitar Hero, you'll have to play through 18 Steve Miller and Captain and Tenille levels before you can unlock the 2112 venue.
