They don't even really let you play as a bad guy in that game and it has no story at all to speak of. Don't get me wrong, I loved Crackdown and finished the game (something I rarely actually do), but I fail to see why you feel it's such a superior game to this one.
I can sum it up like this. People still play and love Crackdown. Let's see if Infamous is still as talked about/beloved after the same amount of time passes. I never said it had variety, but it was an insane amount of fun and remains a popular game with a decent profile even now. If Crackdown 2 was announced, it would consume the gaming world with buzz. Infamous was put out years after Crackdown, yet couldn't nail the experience as well, which to me is a let down. This should have been miles better than Crackdown in every respect, but it isn't. Prototype is around the corner however and once it comes out, I doubt Infamous will much of a blip on the radar. I wanted this to be great, I am the target demographic for Infamous, but it was a gimped experience.

Re: inFAMOUS (PS3) Thread

Spent about 5 hours playing this last night and I'm having a lot of fun with it. However, I do have a handful of gripes:

- Empire City doesn't seem very fleshed-out. I'm on the second island and there isn't really anything different from the first aside from the enemies (and even then, the changes are mostly cosmetic). There also doesn't seem to be any advantage in actually learning your way around.
- The wall-climbing controls are sometimes annoying, especially when trying to get shards that are on the sides of buildings.
- The missions are already getting pretty repetetive. I don't know if I'll make it all the way through a second round on evil.
- The game is a bit buggy and doesn't look that great at times.

Overall, the one word I would use to describe this game is unpolished. But again, the game is still a lot of fun and is totally worth picking up. I just think the reviews and demo set my expectations a bit too high.

I'm playing on normal, but I don't go into battles with any strategy...I just kind of run in and try and kill everything. I'm sure if I planned my attacks out a little bit better, I would have no trouble.

I can see how it could get repetitive. However, I love having a game that I can just pick up and cause some mayhem however I see fit. Same goes for GTAIV.

I can see wild attacks getting you into trouble. I tend to chuck in a few grenades, then do a thunder drop or whatever, then arm the gigawatt blades.

I just got the electric slide power. It was cool and first, but now it's just getting annoying when I jump on the train tracks. Is there any way to stop him from doing the slide?

XPlay just gave it 5 Stars and Sessler called it the Best Game Of 2009 (so far):

They pointed out none of it's shortcomings, which even if you love the game have to admit it has.

It's very useful, and gets even better when you get healed from it.

Wow I'm surprised at X-plays review, they hardly ever give 5 out of 5. They always find something wrong with a game even if they like it. I think Killzone was the last 5 out of 5.

I think Xplay has a rule where they have to give a 5/5 for all platform exclusive games.

No, I ended up having to go for head shots for enemies standing behind fences.

You don't understand - Their heads are poking out above the fence, unblocked by it, and I can't get off any body shots since those are covered by the fence.

Yeah, you can't shoot through fences and the AI (at least on hard) is smart about that.

All the critics reviews are really good. 4/5 stars, A's, etc. But I've always trusted more on you guys, and no, I still haven't played the game, too busy with Wolverine.

I'm not able to shoot through fences either. Has anyone had any success climbing into the "shipping container" compound on the dock? I am seriously stuck and can't for the life of me figure how to get in there.

To be fair, if you did have the ability to shoot bolts of electricity, I doubt it would be effective through a chain link fence.

Re: inFAMOUS (PS3) Thread

Well I just finished the first boss and got to the next area. It is definitely starting feel like Assassin's Creed - cool controls but horribly repetitive. I'm already sick of the whole underground substation repetition. I liked getting the precision control but it sucks too much energy.

Not sure if I'll keep or even finish this one.

Re: inFAMOUS (PS3) Thread

The overall fun picks up a lot (or at least it did for me) when you get the propulsion power. That power speeds up travel so much. I do wish you could drive, seems like a simple enough addition. Especially once you open up multiple islands, driving should have been in here. I know you can hijack helicopters in Prototype, but can you drive cars?

In Prototype, you can jack a tank. That I know for sure.

I'll probably get rid of it once I finish it. Not sure if I want to go through as a good guy after being evil the whole game.

For some reason, I think Prototype won't be as good as everyone thinks. I see it getting a 6.5-7.0 or so from IGN.

I'd probably still buy it

I honestly think it has to be better than Infamous, unless they totally screw the pooch. I don't know what IGN has to do with anything, but I think its a safe bet that Prototype will be sick. Just looking at the previews, there's so much stuff I wish I could do in Infamous.
