Re: inFAMOUS (PS3) Thread

Just rented it. Played about 30 minutes and I'm liking it. I'm just climbing around doing random side missions right now, trying to take control of as much territory as I can.

Oh and if anyone wants the Uncharted 2 Beta, I have no use for it. Maybe we can trade for something. Just let me know.

Re: inFAMOUS (PS3) Thread

I'm not liking the save system as I feel that it doesn't work as well as it should. Earlier today I finished the mission where you get the food down from the metal structure and then saved it after it was completed (along with the autosave). After returning from taking my daughter to her baseball game I loaded that save up and it took me back to the beginning mission (on the rooftop with your buddy). What is up with that? I tried loading up both the autosave and my save and both took me back to the start. And what makes it worse is that you can't skip the animated cut scenes.

A couple hours in, I am underwhelmed. It is fun to run & gun in chaotic ways, but the story is lame and the missions are rarely fun. I wish I would have waited, but hopefully the bonus weapon will be fun to use. I hope Prototype gets it right.

Prototype looks good as well but my expectations for it are not any higher (and with good reason) than this one. Infamous is fun to me but the could have cleaned up the graphics a bit. There are a lot of jaggies in my opinion.

Yes, the visuals in Infamous as pretty weak at times. Prototype seems much more varied in terms of powers and what you can do within the world. Infamous is passable, but is very limiting on powers and overall experience. I do like this direction the two games are going however and can't wait to see what the next wave of games like this can offer.

Re: inFAMOUS (PS3) Thread

I'm enjoying it so far. Played for 2-3 hours. It's a lot like Crackdown. I got screwed into an evil choice at the quarantine. I was trying to take on the guards on my own, but the game thought I was attacking from the crowd and dubbed me as "evil". Lame.
Otherwise, it's a lot of fun. It's a rude awakening after playing the demo to suddenly not have the grenades. I was pretty used to lobbing them at reapers on the demo -- to suddenly just use lightening is kind of an adjustment.

Re: inFAMOUS (PS3) Thread

I just finished the main storyline and I'm quite let down. I took the good path though, which might not be the most fun choice. I wish this was like Crackdown, if it was half as good as that I'd be thrilled. I'm not going to lose sleep over $60, but Infamous was a disappointment. I hoped this would be the game to breathe life into my PS3, but not the case. I'm still holding out hope for Prototype, though I am going 360 on that. BTW, the Gigawatt Blades are quite fun to use.

Fusion, how much time did it take you to finish the main storyline?

Kinda disappointed to read all the letdown reviews.
I hadn't time to play last night, let's see if I can play some today.

I'm still waiting for my copy to arrive or I'd chime in with something more useful. Is it me or is Amazon really dragging out the free shipping duration to push Prime? I remember receiving games just a couple of days after release, but they still haven't even shipped inFamous.

I'm sure that's the case. All Prime orders get shipped first, then paid shipping, and finally free.

From actual order date to receipt, it was taking me 8-9 days to get things.

Between the 10% on games I get and all the orders I place with Amazon, I figure it was about time to sign up for Prime.

I'm surprised at all of the disappointment. I played for a few hours last night and I think it's pretty awesome so far. So fun just jumping around and taking out the rooftop bad guys. Great game, but hard.

Sorry to hear that you didn't like it.

Is the demo indicative of the rest of the game, or does it have weaknesses that aren't shown in the demo?

I only ask because I adore the demo.

I'm not sure there's all that much disappointment. The Metacritic score is 86. Here just Fusion X and dsa_shea didn't dig it. I really enjoyed my first few hours with it and loved the demo. It might get old and repeditive(like Crackdown did to an extent for me), but so far, I'm thinking it's well made, interesting and fun.

Re: inFAMOUS (PS3) Thread

It just gets really monotonous, doing pretty much the same exact type of missions over and over with little to no variations - even the different islands all look and feel the same. The only thing that keeps it fresh are the different powers and upgrades you get.

yeah Amazon has really been dragging when it comes to recent videogame delivery

Re: inFAMOUS (PS3) Thread

It can get repetitive, that's for sure. The side missions remind me of the Spider-Man 2 game. You see them, they ask for help, you do it. The good/evil choices are a nice change.

I wish you could pick up cars and throw them like Crackdown. I wish there were taller buildings, too.

I am still enjoying myself.

This is right on. I got tired of doing "follow without being seen" or the other five mission types. I'd rather have a few unique missions, as opposed to the same shit over and over and over. The potential is here, but the repetition is worse than Assassin's Creed. Aside from the open world/collecting, this is nothing like Crackdown and doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same breath. I will say being bad is a little more fun, but again, the game is so limited in scope it becomes dull super fast. To be honest, I had more fun with Wolverine.

Tarantino, What difficulty are you on? I did my good run on Normal and didn't die once. I've been taken out a few times on hard, but it takes a lot to bring down Cole, which it should.

Wow, not a lot of love for the game in this thread. Glad I haven't bought it yet. Anyone here enjoying it or think it is a AAA game?

I never said that I didn't enjoy the game. I just wish they polished up the jaggies a bit.

It wasn't bad, just not good. I was looking forward to it and expected a great game, but got a great concept that poorly executed. There's enough here to warrant a rental, for sure.

I'm sorry, Fusion, but where was all that gameplay variety you experienced in Crackdown? The game I played had nothing but assassination missions, along with a few optional checkpoint races. Once you found a rocket launcher, the game was an admittedly fun cake walk. I once even had a sub-boss accidentally kill himself from falling off a high platform. They don't even really let you play as a bad guy in that game and it has no story at all to speak of. Don't get me wrong, I loved Crackdown and finished the game (something I rarely actually do), but I fail to see why you feel it's such a superior game to this one.
