I'm 29 hours in. Did the loyalty missions for Grunt, Jacob, and Jack today. Haven't even touched the three new recruit missions.

When and where do you get the probe upgrade? Is that the only mining upgrade you get besides the quicker scanner? What about the fuel upgrade?

Mine has super-paragon and is not a douchebag like your Shepard.

God, this game is addicting. I've actually missed out on social gatherings because I can't tear myself away. What is wrong with me?!

I'll be here to hold your hair back as you're puking from failing those that trust you.

nothing wrong with you...its the "people" at these so called "social" gatherings that have the problem.....they are just trying to conform and control you, and you are doing what makes you happy. Don't let someone change you man...stay true to yourself.

One upgrade I did not get the first time I played was the medical scaring remover.....does this effect the game in any way other than removing my scars? Do you need to do it to get everyone out of the last mission?

I got my second scanning update after I went to the Citadel to help Thane, you can buy 60 probes instead of 30.

Fox, I bought the useless medical bay upgrade because I figured it factored in someway other than aesthetically. And I got the achievement (though it pops way later than the other ones did and had me nervous).

So no one knows of a way to get an anomaly back? I really wanted to do Jacob's loyalty mission. :(

Re: Mass Effect 2 - 360 and PC

Tracer, I just read your problem. I'm not 100% sure on this, but if there's an anomaly, I don't think you can scan for minerals first anyway. Maybe you can, I never did, but...

I did do something like you described, where I tried for a big spike of platinum, but I guess either you can't do that before you scan the anomaly OR I was too close to the anomaly for the scanner to know which I wanted to do - not sure which.

Anyway, it "kicked me out of the scanner" like it did with every other anomaly. Are you sure you don't have the option to Land (A) when you're in orbit at the same time you have Start Scanner (Y)?

Well apparently you can, because I was able to. Or maybe that's part of this bug? I dunno.

Anyway, I have no option to land. It still has the planet marked with the quest in the solar system view, but when I click on it and press Y to start the scanner I get no anomaly signal and it's just like a regular planet that you can scan for minerals.

Re: Mass Effect 2 - 360 and PC

Just making sure you know that the option to Land is parallel to the option to Start Scanning. If you hit Y, you can't hit A until you hit B.

I ran into 2 bugs around side quests.

1) During someone's recruit or loyalty quest, I ran across some fake IDs. It kept telling me to find someone that could use them. Looked and looked and looked and couldn't find anyone. Resorted to checking the gamefaqs boards for where to go. Turns out I wasn't the only one experiencing this glitch. Anyway, this bug persisted until after Thane's loyalty quest when the recipients just magically appeared. +40 EXP (finally!)

2) On Omega, there was this Salarian (Ish, I think his name was) that wanted some packages from The Citadel and Illium. I got those and went back to him and Paragon'd him out of doing something stupid with the info. I got the 40 EXP for doing it and the quest updated in my journal reading like it was completed, but the text stayed orange like it was active. It's still that way.

Oh no, I know that. The only options I have are Y or B.

I'm at the point where I want to do absolutely everything in the game there is to do all at once and thus can't ever figure out what I want to do next. I love these kind of problems.

Without spoiling anything, could someone tell me how far into the game you are once you have all characters recruited (not counting side missions)? There's so much coming out between now and March but I have to finish this before I start something new.

The one you get for doing what foxdvd was referring to.

Spoiler:
No One Left Behind - Keep your team alive through the suicide mission (75)

How important is it to have played the original ME game before playing ME2? I am trying to decide between ME2 or AC2
