Interesting. But there is a way to get through without anyone from your crew dying, right?

I asked this same question from some "LIVE" friends as well as those here and all said the same thing....better to play the first one before the new one. I've been at it for a week on the first one and must say it's very good and worth it.

As to which game to get I guess that depends on how fast you want to go thru. Some here have already finished it. Me, I like to take some time, enjoy the moments and just explore. There are plenty what I call "social quests" to do but it's part of the storyline.

FWIW, just because Bioware said it doesn't make it not a spoiler. :(

Yes, anywhere from zero up to all crew members in ME2 can either die or survive. (and that's why it's not really a spoiler)

I had to laugh... I'm relatively early in the game (trying to find the doctor on Omega) and I stumbled upon the looters in the apartment. After playing the good Samaritan role and languishing them for looting, I proceeded to take 4000 credits from a wall safe, some medi-gel, power cells and radium from the doctors office... way to practice what you preach rotfl

I will say they put a lot of references (emails, conversations, running into survivors) from the first ME. You will definitely get something out of having experienced the first one.

Actually for some folks the fact that that can happen is a spoiler.

Just finushed the Thane loyalty mission. Damn, that was a fun one.

On an unrelated note, does anyone find Jacob to be an insufferable bore? I havent used him since the first missions.

I just ran into the Omega: Packages for Ish mission glitch where after completing it the mission is still listed as active in my mission log. Not a big deal since I got the XP for it.

Re: Mass Effect 2 - 360 and PC

In my second play-through I made the mistake of giving Jacob Team special ammo. OMFG...He is always fucking overriding my special ammo with his stupid ammo, no matter the situation, and as far as I can tell you A:can't turn off ammo usage on your teammates and B:can't reassign points on your squad...so he is no longer a character I will use.

One thing scares me, I did ALL loyalty missions the first game, and only Miranda hated me, but she and another character died at the end, even though that other character was loyal to me. I hope I am not missing something else, because I updated everything except the scar medical upgrade...and the fact that Miranda was not loyal. That other character died at the last part, where the rest of the team is by themselves, so it is not a bad choice on my part.

Is there a sure fire way to keep everyone alive? I have everyone loyal to me so far and apparently you have to buy ship enhancements too?

pinata242 02-01-10 09:33 PM

Re: Mass Effect 2 - 360 and PC

I don't know about the ship enhancements, but here's what I did to keep everyone alive. FWIW, I did have all the ship enhancements and everyone was loyal.

Spoiler:
On the first section, I sent Legion up the shaft since he's so bad ass at Tech. Garrus led a squad of mercenaries before, so he was my obvious pick for the Fire Team leader.

I made sure I hit all the heat valves to keep Legion alive on his run.

For the 2nd round, I let Mordin (the doctor) take all the prisoners back to the Normandy. I, again, had Garrus hold the position, and I took Jack (the bad ass biotic) as my barrier generator.

It worked for me.

pinata who did you take with you on your last part, the final boss?

Re: Mass Effect 2 - 360 and PC

I just beat it, and don't know of anyone dying, but I didn't get the achievement for saving the whole crew :grunt:. I found myself typically using Jack and Thane. Half of them I didn't even use once, but I'll likely mix it up on Insanity difficulty.

It depends who you pick to do certain parts on the last mission. This lists the correct possible choices.

OK, renegade interrupt actions are so awesome. The one you do in Mordin's loyalty mission is totally badass.

LOL, yeah I loved that one. I also liked the one on the Recruit the Assassin mission...

Spoiler:
that involves a window and a merc.

 I did that too. I play as a Paragon, but every once in a while you gotta show the mercs who's boss.

 Yeah, I posted a cryptic one-liner by Shepard earlier in this thread because of that scene.

Normally I ran with Miranda and Mordin throughout the game. As a Soldier, their Warp/Overload and Incinerate skills helped me immensely get through all the shields, barriers, and armor.

For the last section, I switched it up because, with the collectors, I didn't really need Mordin's Incinerate.

Spoiler:
So I replaced him with Legion. Just because I could send that drone out to distract the collectors (and his bad ass sniping skillz) while Miranda's Warp would hit The Harbinger fast and my Disruptor ammo would tear through the rest.

To be honest, in that section, I didn't use them much and I'm not sure how much it really mattered who I took.

Hey where are more assault rifle upgrades located at? I have most of my team assembled and so far I only have 1 which I found on Omega

Now 34 hours in. Just recruited the Justicar. Did the forced mission, too. That was a bit hard.
