I really like to start with DM as sort of a lobby while folks get online, but I will probably move further in the direction of CTF, and I also got the impression that folks liked the dogfight map, as it prompted a few to stick around for "one more match". Would you guys like to see one more of those in the rotation?

For next week, I'm thinking:

DM
TDM
CTF
CTF
Dogfight DM
CTF
CTF
Dogfight TDM
CTF (big map)

I'm open to requests for specific maps or comments on specific maps that you guys like/dislike.

Also, I've been running the matches for about 25 minutes. Does that feel about right?
This lineup looks good. The time seems a little long but with a 9 map rotation thats just about 4 hours. What ever you think I'm ok with.

It actually should be just over 3...and when it rotates back to the first DM, I owe you a knives and nades match, I think.

That's how it ended up this week...through a 9 map rotation and then wrapped up after doing the first map again.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

So I was "practicing" in a bunch of online games with my morning off... It's really unbelievable what some of these Warhawk pilots can do, especially with some of the air-to-land combat.

Some of the most fun I had was finding a sniper rifle in a tower and waiting for a head shot, fire one off, maybe two... and then get bombarded with cannon fire from the turrets. Little bit of overkill.

Yes, the Warhawk is a remarkably scary, yet fragile machine. I'm a decent pilot...better than most I'd imagine, but yeah, there's some dudes out there who have been playing this nonstop for a year and a half.

When you're sniping, you can only kill one and you have to move, because when you kill that first one, their camera focuses on your location before they respawn. I think playing defense with mines, rocked launchers and turrets is the best place to start out...then work your way up to the tank and jeep.

Well, I figured out why I haven't been able to customize my character yet: you only gain points on ranked servers (needless to say, I was a little confused when I accessed that page and found 0's across my points board).

I'll see if I can make mine a "ranked match" somehow.

I gained a couple of ranks screwing around the other day. I have no idea how.

One popped up when I sniped somebody. I felt so accomplished.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

It's been a while since I ranked up, and I don't really plan to get any more ranks, but I think I remember the first few ranks coming pretty quickly. I think all the first rank requirements are all on-foot.

The requirements for each rank are listed on your in-game profile, I think.

For what it's worth, the character customization isn't terribly useful and doesn't change the game mechanics in any way...strictly for aesthetics.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

Is anyone going to be around tonight? An impromptu Warhawk Monday Warmup (for the real Warhawk Tuesday)?

If it's just me I'll probably sign on to get pummeled by the pros for a bit and then try to finish a mission in Fallout 3.

You should at least be able to switch your default character between the two factions.

I forgot I've got tickets to see Andrew Bird tomorrow...

No Warhawk.

Andrew Bird.

Maybe I'll get back before everyone signs off.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

Hope to see you guys on, even if it's late.

If turnout is ANYTHING like last Tuesday, we'll be fine.

Hopefully I can get home early enough to play with the game options...see if I can get Chew ranked up a bit.

Sweet.

Of course, once that's good to go: I'll just need you to stand there and take your punishment for a couple dozen kills.

Nah...tell me what your requirements are in-game, and I'll make sure you get them.

Thanks Ed!

Absolutely, join in. I'd recommend doing the tutorials, or at least the ground ones, but otherwise, it's a pretty low threat and good natured environment.

I'll also do my best to coach you along as best I can.

...plus Chew needs somebody besides me to kill!

I'm always a nice moving target. You'll notice me looking at the ground and throwing grenades at my feet. Or in a jeep and stuck in a corner honking. So Sauce you should definitely join in. I'd like to be destroyed by a greater variety of players.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

I'm checking the options, and I can make a ranked server, but it limits the options a bit.

If ranked, I can't do "all-talk" (where everybody can hear each other) and minimum players is 8 (in other words, it doesn't start tracking stats unless the room is full). And when we get to 8, if I remember right, the map timer starts over. It also kills split-screen.

They do all that to limit people from farming points, but it's more than I really want to deal with in a casual game. We tend to go through spells with 6-7, and I like to be able to hear everybody. I also want to keep moving from map to map without timer resets.
