Re: Any interest in a Weekly Warhawk night?
In the options, you'll want to change your setting from "push to talk", where you have to push L3 to talk, to "open mic". You may need to turn down the volume on your TV to reduce feedback, especially if you're using a bluetooth set. I also turn the music off, and recommend that to everyone regardless. Even in a game where you aren't talking, you need the quiet to hear mines.
You'll also want to adjust your controls a bit. The only thing I invert is flight, but I know some folks like inverted controls for aiming. I have my aiming sensitivity set in the high 80s for every vehicle.
I've only played this game once or twice so I have no idea what I'm doing yet. I expect to be cannon fodder for the experts out there.

My bluetooth headset was picking up every sound in the room. I think I'd much rather have a wired headset simlar to my 360 one.

I had an old PC one that was probably fine, but when I saw the nice Logitech on clearance for $15 (basically half price), I had to bite.
With the bluetooth set, you'll probably need to go into your PS3 menu and lower the input sound. I think I used to have mine set to 1-2 bars.

Re: Any interest in a Weekly Warhawk night?
I couldnt get my blutooth (the one that came with warhawk) to work. Infact I cant get it working with any game. I still have to send the friend request.
I warhawk the other night and got in some game where dudes were too good. They were flying like Ive never seen the hawk fly! One dude was flying to the base, landing, getting the flag, and zoomed off in some hyperdrive. Dont you have to leave the vehicle to get a flag? He didnt! I was happy shooting him down a few times.

The Warhawk carries 2, so likely what you were seeing was the passenger getting out and grabbing the flag and instantly getting back in. I don't know about "hyperdrive", but the Warhawk goes from zero to balls fast in about a millisecond.
The default is that you can't carry flags in a Warhawk, and the only reason the host would change that is to gather quick points. You won't see that kind of crap in games I host. You might see some "hyperdrive" at some point though!

Re: Any interest in a Weekly Warhawk night?
Another good showing this week!!! We played from 6 till about 10 with 8 people in during the heart of the night. With my bandwidth, I can only host 8, so hopefully nobody was trying to get in and couldn't.
Thanks to those of you who came out this week. Off the top of my head, I remember seeing:
Myself - obviously
Chew - who's getting better
Cloudvader - whose FPS skills are transferring nicely for ground combat
DRG - our mystery guest, who was doing quite well
EdStein - who stuck around for some 1:1 Warhawk tips
KenKeith - who was around for a few hours
Ravenous - good to see you in there
I.Flores - Sorry brother. Believe me, I know how hard it is to fight Warhawk habits.
Ed's friend - Who unfortunately was way too good
My buddy eroc - who fits right in in terms of skill level and is a good natured dude
I missed spiderbite this week.
...apologies to anyone I forgot. It was a bit chaotic here and there!
On a few of the maps, I took an active role in just keeping folks on the ground, which is where you learn your core skills. I was just hovering above the playfield and taking a rocket launcher shot every now and then, which I didn't mind at all. Folks need to practice locking that thing on to Warhawks.
To make up for that, I loaded a Warhawk only map, and hopefully everybody enjoyed the ability to just putter around a bit. On that map, I focused on the one person who can fly a bit (eroc) and did my best to keep him occupied/dead.
Next week: Team Death Match and Capture the Flag maps! We need to keep 8 in to make it work though.

That's hard to see from this end.
I did try to get the bluetooth headset working this week. I didn't know until about an hour in that there was another setting in the PS3 menu I never even touched: I just thought I had to pair it and it would work, I didn't know I had to have it active as well.
Unfortunately, once I had the settings right, it sounded like crap and I didn't use it.
chess, you by far have the best headset from what I hear. I know you said it was a wired Logitech. Do you have the model number?

My bluetooth headset (motorola cellphone style) was hit or miss. Once connected it worked ok but it picks up any sound in the room. Once I turned it off I couldn't get it to reconnect without deleting and re-scanning. I'm going to pick up a wired usb headset this week which should work better.
Games were fun. Would have been better with more people. Some of those maps are huge and beg for a lot of people to make them enjoyable.

It took awhile to get my mic working I think. Did I sound okay? Its the first time using it. I should have it set to the deeper slower voice setting as I have a habit of talking fast. I also had to push L3 to talk as I have a habit of cussing and talking to others in the room so I didnt want an open mic.
Team Death and flag sounds fun!

But really any halfway decent USB headset will work quite well.

I have mixed feelings about the "big" (those really aren't the "big maps" at all) maps. I actually like the slower pace, as I'd rather "hunt" than "react"...if that makes sense.

I honestly can't remember how you sounded. I kind of remember confirming that I could hear you, and that was it...which if true, means the background noise couldn't have been too bad.

Finally, I forgot to mention that I also missed Murray this week.
I was looking forward to hearing another wired headset, which I've gotta say, sounded phenomenal.

I ordered a refurb Logitech 350 for about $18 shipped:
http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Premi...7810747&sr=8-3
Two Questions:
I see you need points and/or trophies to start customizing your character a bit more than the basics. What gives me those points? Kills? Time?
For the team maps: how do you tell who your teammates are?

I'm really looking forward to the two capture the flag maps I have in mind. Both are a lot of fun.

Re: Any interest in a Weekly Warhawk night?
Sorry I missed the fun Saturday night, we had some people over and by the time they left and I logged in, the Warhawk goodness was over . I'll try to join in this week for the team DM/CTF maps.
