Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night
I can't argue with anything anyone has said. I feel dirty playing anything other than Warhawk on Tuesdays... but some days it is what it is. I have Tuesday night set aside for gaming. The only night each week that I really have the blessing of the wife and am not expected to do anything but blow shit up.
I also begin my Tuesdays expected Warhawk and am generally sad when it doesn't happen. When no one shows I diddle in something else for awhile until Slider or nic shows up. Tuesday there weren't any Warhawkers on... so I played a game of NCAA and hoped someone would show up. The regulars were in BF when I finished my game so I jumped in.
The only way Warhawk works lately, it seems, is if we rattle the cages all week and raise the excitement level. But to be the event that draws the casual 'hawkers out it can't take place every week. Just the way it seems.
So I'm calling it out now. If Slider can do Wednesdays, we're moving Warhawk to Wednesday @ 8:30.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night
One question worth asking is whether there's a night that's better than Tuesday for people for something like Warhawk that requires planning/committed attendees. If so, I'll gladly host something on that night.
If not, I'm out. Mondays are my most open nights, followed by most Tuesdays, and Thursdays until February, 2012 when spring semester night classes roll into town.
What do people think of trying a Monday or Wednesday so maybe we can get something going and get Slider a chance to play, too?
I honestly can't keep playing BFBC2 every night of the week.
And, frankly, I miss Warhawk in spite of never having been a part of the core group. The spirit of it is just different:
I'll offer a caveat to all of that, though. It's felt a little different when we played the last few times. Maybe it's because I'm new and not as good as many of you, but when we play with a small handful of people as opposed to what seemed like a larger group at the beginning of the year, I feel completely overwhelmed and killed over and over without respite. I'm not saying I want people to lay off me by any means but I think I feel the pressure more when there aren't as many players to target and that's a mixed bag for me as (what feels to me) a new player. On one hand, when I capture a flag in this sort of game, it feels reaaally good and on the other hand, when I get douche killed ten times per minute I'm not really smiling as much anymore.
I'm glad I asked the question about letting Warhawk go because I'm glad to see the conversation roll out about it. Clearly, we're not ready to let it go and we're thinking of what we can do to revitalize it. That's awesome.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night
I wonder if he'd accept such a gift.
There will always be nights like this, but I've been cursing at my TV an awful lot of late.
I will admit that I always struggled with that same sort of thing. I don't think I managed more than three kills in a whole night of playing Warhawk until just recently. Then, at some point, it just clicked-- and now I'm getting like... four. But I am familiar with the feeling.
Part of the problem is, of course, that Chess is away, and he was always good at actively working to keep things as fair as he could. Also, most of the funny/amusing "douchey" kills came at the hands of Slider; and having Slider keeping the other people who know how to operate those damn binocs occupied meant that I was likely to live a bit longer.
I was going to write about how this is blasphemy but you know what? While it was cool playing with you and nicholls a few times this week, ultimately it was clear the three of us weren't having a lot of fun because of the teams we were going up against.

I'm not a big football guy so that sort of thing doesn't enter my mind but I read recently that they anticipate more NFL blackout games than ever this season, all related to an anticipation of lower ticket sales due to the economy. Of course, that's all speculation.
Thing is, with the new baby coming any day now, I may not be the person to formulate a schedule around. I appreciate being kept in the process and I enjoy playing with you all, but our first newborn coming in September is a part of my reality and it could impeded my ability to be involved any night. Plus, to be honest, it feels like others have stronger feelings on the whole matter than I do and that's why I'm not self-advocating as strongly as I probably should.
I just want everyone to be happy all the time. What's wrong with that?!

Monday nights are probably a no-go for football.
Tuesday nights aren't working right now, but it lasted for 2 years because it made sense.
Wednesdays make sense to me, and if memory serves were good for Slider
Thursdays are taken by Call of Duty
Fridays are probably best occupied by Battlefield, where 2-12 people can drop in and out.
Curious how long CoD and Battlefield can coexist.

Tho, on a more serious note, smaller maps do lend themselves to all kinds of douchey behavior because barely impacts the game (quick spawns, less travel time) and we feel much less bad about it.

Mondays were out because of football. I got the impression that Wednesdays worked for everyone but Spatula-- but Spatula also has a newborn on the way (about a week now...though I suspect he might have a baby already given his absence around here), so he seemed okay with the day being a day he might not make it.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night
How does everyone feel about Wednesdays starting with next Wednesday, September 14? I will host if flipper cannot.
I will also take responsibility for whipping up some participation.
