how do you make money besides those boring jobs?
I don't have enough money yet to buy a house to rent out and the mobs you kill don't drop any loot.
My dog finds gold occasionally, but not enough.

You can get an augment that will generate gold every time you kill a mob.

Money piles up geometrically. Get enough money to buy a stall. Buy it. Now you're generating 10 gold every 5 minutes or so. In relatively little time, you'll have enough money to buy a second stall .. then a third ... then a crappy house that you can rent out ... then more houses ... then better houses ... then Inns. Before you know it, you own all of Albion and you're raking in tens of thousands of gold every five minutes.

Alternately, you can buy a stall then go play Fallout for three weeks and when you come back you will be rich.

Or you can sell all junks that your dog found and/or from treasure chest - such as rings, necklaces, books (do not sell expression/dog expression books), weapons (that are less power than other weapon), and other shits - you should be able to have enough money left to buy a house or business.

I just read current issue of OXM and they showed how to use money cheat on Fable II -

1. buy up business/house (to rent out) that you can afford
2. Save
3. Log out XBL
4. Go to your Xbox System and click clock. Set it to year 2025. Be sure to remain log out from XBL because it will automatically reset the clock.
5. Boot up Fable II. Now you got 17 years worth of profit!
6. Save and quit. Login XBL (or you can reset the clock manually).

If you need more money, repeat the steps above. I just got 1 million Fable II money by doing this on my two separate characters.

X-Play named Fable II as "GOTY" the other night.

I don't know about that... I mean, it was enjoyable but not GOTY to me.

It was an hour-long special and they gave out awards in a number of categories. Given how Metal Gear Solid IV got the most, I thought for sure they would've named that instead.

Even without using that trick, I had way, way too much money to effectively spend... I kept waiting for better weapons, but they seemed to top out really early, and after that you're just building up your real estate empire with the money.

Also, GOTY? It was a decent game, but I wouldn't think it would make many top 5 lists, even.

I liked the game a lot, but it's not GOTY contender for me. I am glad that it's popular and that MS is supporting it with expansions, though. I'll be buying Knothole Island next week.

I finally finished Gears of War 2 so I started playing this. I'm enjoying it quite a bit (been sick the last 2 days so i've been playing this at home a lot). It's weird, nothing about the game really seems to scream out as particularly cool or stand out feature wise, and the gameplay is pretty straightforward, but i'm still having fun running around. Not sure how many hours i'm in, but found the first hero i'm supposed to search for and doing some of the achievements is a nice diversion.

Is it just me or does this game feel like it has no soul. I mean, it's fun enough, but I feel ZERO connection with the character. I think someone mentioned not thinking about the game when not playing it. Yah, that's me.

It's not just you. I couldn't connect with my character or he world at all. Maybe it's because I'm the only one who couldn't talk. Maybe it's because for all the customization, I couldn't stop my character from looking like an ugly lard-ass no matter how much celery I eat and no matter how many bottles of dye I use. Maybe it's because the story tries to simultaneously convey a sense of urgency and encourage you to take your time to explore. I have fun when I play, but if the disc isn't already in the 360, I have no desire to put it there.

EXACTLY how I feel. I only own two games on the xbox 360 (I'm a new owner) and that's why I play it. It's already in my 360. And when I do, it's relatively fun until I get headaches (I'm extremely motion sensitive when it comes to games) and stop playing. Then, I just don't think about the game again.

Yah, I hate my character's look. The clothing choices are VERY FEW and the weapon choices are similarly sparse. Honestly, this game really doesn't let you customize much.

My wife tried that cheat, and it didn't work at all.

Did any of you experience an issue with the game locking up? I did some digging and it appears that the last update from Microsoft did it.

But I haven't read anything on how to remedy this situation. Anyone have any thoughts?

I finally finished this last night... the ending was pretty shitty and anticlimactic. Now to decide if I want to go back and replay this as a giganto douche bag or run around in my current world trying to pick up some random achievements.

do shops generate income for you offline or is it only houses that you rent out?

It will work if you own a business(s) and/or rent out house(s). I'll copy out the article from XBL - wait, I threw it away... shit... Whoever have this month (or January 2009) issue, help out?

Yes, both business and rent out.

Quoting you.

That should work, but just buying houses and stands will also work. The money piles up exponetially. My biggest complaint about the game is that it's too easy to make money, making it virtually useless. I have to laugh when a new job becomes available -- It sorta like sending Warren Buffett a text message saying "There's an opening for Assistant Manager at the local Taco Bell!"

I guess I wasn't doing a good job taking advantage, as I didn't have that much money throughout the game. Bought what I thought were a decent amount of stores and places at Bowerstone, but at most probably only had in the 40K gold range.

But then again I don't think I spent that much doing all the random quests and stuff and went through the main ones pretty quickly.

She owns both, and it still wouldn't work.

I don't get how folks generate income when offline... I sure don't.

I thought I would but hadn't played for a week and I when I logged on, I didn't make a gold.

Doesn't matter though, I am not liking it so far. I bought this and Fallout 3 at the same time so maybe I got spoiled, but I adores Fallout compared to Fable.
