Or is it completely separate and better to finish the game first and then you access the DLC at that point?
It's almost exactly like Fallout 3 actually, in that the quests will become available to you after a certain trigger point early in the game and you can start them whenever you like.

However, I've read that you can't actually complete either DLC until you've finished the main game, so there may be some other points in Fable that unlock the later quests in the DLC. I couldn't confirm because I'd already beaten the main game before I really got too far into the DLC.

Re: Fable II

Another question...is there a way to look thru people's stuff without having to steal it? At least with Fallout 3 you could look in a desk and if the stuff sucked, leave it there. But it seems with Fable 2, if you decide to look thru a desk, the only choice is to take the item and you get evil points for stealing (or someone sees you and the damn relentless police force bugs the shit out of you until you either pay restitution or do community service).

Am I overlooking something there. Can it be done differently.

It may not matter as I started out good but it appears I am drifting toward evil. I got married just to see what would happen, had a kid by accident, and because it was so early in my game, I just didn't want to deal with all of that. So I killed her and the kid got taken away by child services. Then I bought a house in an entirely different community and evicted the current tenants. I own the house, right??? Guess not as I went to look thru the items there and they said that I stole something. Guards came and I ended up killing 11 people before having to do community service.

How can you own a house and then steal from it???

By the way...the dog is a fucking brilliant addition to the game. I actually give a shit about the thing and never treat it bad. I felt kinda bad when it starte cowering around me after killing all those people. It's nice to have to just go digging around in random spots hoping for something like you did on Fable 1.
One other question...it has been forever since i played the first Fable, but are titles just the way people look at you and treat you? They have no bearing on your skills if you buy a title, correct?

I am sick of people calling me a murderer everywhere I go now. It makes me want to kill them.

It only acivated properly once with my first wife (who I later lured out into a forest and murdered).
I have the same issue, it says my Wife wants sex, but I don't know how. anyways really enjoying the game, its a time waster, time just fly's by when you play. I dont like how you cant close your door in your house, and people just walk in, then when you are trying to make your wife happy, people come in the house, i wish you could have your actions just affect who you want.

Game isnt perfect by any means but its alot of fun so far, I rented it from Gamefly and its gonna be a while till I send this one back.

Re: Fable II

I know I'm late into this game and Xbox 360 basically (Got my first Aug of this year) but with the recent price drop through amazon and all major retailers I am going to pick it up and start playing right away! I know oblivion is an older game as well but I'm playing that right now and enjoying it very much as well.

Re: Fable II

Okay, so I just beat the game. What's the consensus on the add-ons? Worth the $16 or not?

The reason I ask is because
Spoiler:
I have it saved right before I have to make the choice. I really want my dog back but know that the sacrifice is the "right" choice to make. I also know that Knothole Island allows you to get your dog back. But if Knothole really isn't worth it, then I don't want to lose my dog as I run around and do various quests and try and get the last of the treasures and stuff. Any advice?

Spoiler:

Unless you are really into straight up role playing as a pure character, Sacrifice isn't really the best option in terms of benefits. All you get is a statue of yourself. Love saves your dog and family (or families), plus your sister, and there is no penalty to purity or good/evil. Money is worthless. No one should pick money even if they're playing an evil character, by the end of the game the amount of money you receive is almost pocket change.

Tough call on whether the DLC is worth it. They're both very short quest lines (You can finish them in a couple of hours tops, maybe a little more if you want to collect everything). See the Future is cheaper and adds more interesting achievements if you're into that sort of thing. Knothole in particular is a real stretch at $10. I don't think it was worth it personally, but then I hadn't lost my dog either.

What are these "episodes" supposed to be? I can't seem to find any info on what it is from the marketplace site.

Re: Fable II

I am thinking that it is Fable 2, broken into 5 parts. The first part is free like a demo, then you need to buy the rest of the game. It's pretty much Fable 2 games on demand.

Re: Fable II

Its a new way to deliver the XBox 360 Games on Demand to customers.

Basically this is a test. You get the first episode of the Fable II game free to play. Unlike a demo, you can actually experience the game in more depth without stopping after at most two levels of play or without a time limit.

Also, unlike demos of disc based games like Batman: Arkham Asylum and Call of Duty: World At War, everything you do in the "free" episode is retained by the system's memory. So if you choose to unlock the remaining episodes over XBox Live then you keep the achievements and saves you already earned and created. If you choose to buy the game disc, then achievements you earned also unlock and the game saves your created are also retained.

Here is the official press release for it:

Re: Fable II

Using a thread resurrection phial!

I recently got the GOTY to play through the DLC and am now completely done with that. However, I was wondering if anybody was willing to help me out with some co-op achievements.

I'm looking to do the co-op expression and co-op attack. I'm also looking for hero dolls (I have Theresa, Thunder, and generic Hero) as well as someone who can sacrifice people to the Temple of Shadows.

If anyone is willing to help out, the nerdy completionist in me would greatly appreciate it!

Yeah, I'll definitely help. I have the Plat edition as well. I haven't really played it much and think my char is just out of the first dungeon. Send me a msg via Live and we'll try to schedule something.

Cool. Do you have any of the hero dolls or have you done the Temple of Shadows/Temple of Light decision yet?

No, none of that yet. Like I said, I'm barely outside of that first dungeon after the gypsy camp once you leave the city. Do I need to get those things you mentioned?

Re: Fable II

I can still send you a friend request and we can do the co-op stuff.

To get at least one hero doll, I think you play the game at fable2.com. There are three possible endings, each one gives you different loot for the game and you can replay to get all three endings. But I think the hero doll comes with the rusty crown. Can't remember.

Pretty soon though you'll get to the Shadows/Light decision but you may still be able to get the executioner achievement before making that decision.

And, I can help you with whatever you need. Items, gold whathaveyou.

Re: Fable II

I got this a few weeks ago and it has completely consumed my (gaming) life. Tons of fun.

I beat the main quest earlier tonight and selflessly chose "sacrifice". I should've thought it over more thoroughly. I want my dog back, dammit! Any way I can buy a new dog or something?

If not, then I will use the loss of the dog as motivation to transform my character from good to evil.

EDIT: Woo-hoo! I found out how to bring it back (luckily, I have the Game of the Year Edition). Ah, heck. I'm going to play out the rest of the game as evil, anyway.

Re: Fable II

A little tip for those of you still looking for Fable II. I found & bought the Platinum Hits version on clearance at Target for $13.98. With all of the DLC, it's a steal at that price. Then again, I'm a sucker for Fable II as is...I already owned the limited edition and beat it a long time ago. Of course, getting the platinum gives me incentive to go after it all evilesque this time.

Re: Fable II

I got this game free with the Xbox and just put it in three days ago. Beat it today. Is it me or am I missing something? Seems like I breezed through this. No real boss battles. The end was a breeze. Kinda' not what I expected.

Or is the main point of the game just all the side things?

I recently beat the main quest line after sinking about 20 hours into the game. The best way to think of the game (before starting) is that it is like The Sims with major action/role playing elements.

BTW - did anyone else
Spoiler:
start out as a boy and take the potion to turn into a chick? I look seriously roided up. I was also able to marry 2 different straight women after I changed to a woman.

I for one was bored by the game and will be not buying Fable 3. As I've said before, twice bitten, thrice shy.

20 hours? Man, I must have missed a shitload. I did it in about 8. Okay, time to do it again, take an alternate path and take a bit more time.

I should say so. I spent 30-40 hours playing the game. But, that being said, if playing 8 hours you didn't enjoy it, I don't know how playing it for longer would make you happier. (although it does sound like you missed some of the depth and detail there perhaps.)

Oh, I enjoyed what I played. Just felt it was too short and an easy ride. Glad I hadn't paid for it but enjoyed it. In fact, I suppose I enjoyed it so much I wish it was longer.

I think I would have been majorly disappointed had I not read this thread prior to playing it. I only played fable LC up until I hit the teleport glitch. So, I already wasn't expecting greatness. There were some things I really did not like about fable 2 (mainly the clothing not affecting your defensive rating). However, I wasn't expecting awesome character interactions and all my decisions to matter.

Re: Fable II

I stopped playing this for some reason when it first came out. Finished Fable :LC earlier this week and had a taste for more Fable. Starting over playing an evil Woman. Only two hours in and remembered there's that Knots Island DLC. At what point in the game should I visit the island? Need to know mainly for the gear if it's worth it for later in the main game?
