There's some bug where the furniture store in Bowerstone will not sell you any furniture once the economy is at 5 stars. So I've never been able to buy any furniture at all.... the only thing she has for sale is a book.

A question about the ending:
Spoiler:
I chose the "bring your family back from the dead" ending and got a note from my sister that she was in a forest somewhere and we would be reunited. Is this an actual quest, or just a "I'm sending you a note from heaven!" thing. I assume the latter, but if she's actually hanging around in Brightwood or somewhere waiting for me, I want to go find her

I must say I was surprised by how short and small this game is. Maybe because I'm comparing it to Oblivion, but I expected it to go on a lot longer and I expected there to be more quests.

I spend more time messing around in the sandbox than anything else. I'm glad to hear it's kind of short -- I won't touch Fallout 3 until I'm done with this.

I often wonder which I would prefer in the real world. The ability to make easy money every five minutes by not doing anything or the ability to get my wife to forgive me for cheating on her simply by pumping my fist, doing a silly jig and producing a long, loud fart.

I'm about to finish the game for the second time (this time evil) and I gotta say, the early game is quite a bit more difficult as evil. For the end game, I decided I would take my completely evil toon and make him completely good (I needed the laugh expression) so, 200,000 gold to the beggar and all my sins are cast away. Almost like Catholic confession.

I do have a problem though, my first toon is stuck at the bottom of fairfax castle, I can't seem to hit the target three times to open the door. When I go for the third shot, regardless of how fast, it resets to the beginning again, every time. I've tried several hundred times, help me obi-wan kenobi, you're my only hope.

I started a new character when I got to the spot where I didn't think I would be able to continue under the castle, saved, the next time I logged in and clicked "continue" it brought up a screen asking which toon I wanted to play, the sweet princess "kickin it live" in Castle Fairfax or the evil pauper in the gypsy camp. It looks like you can have 6 different characters. I was surprised as well. I figured I would lose the other one when I started a new one.

You can have up to 6 separate character saves.

Ah, cool, I had no idea that new game wouldn't wipe out your existing game...

If you are where I think you are... you have to shoot it twice, then change up and hit it with your sword ( or whatever) when it flies to the spot close to you.

Note that the target turns blue (melee -- X button) or yellow (ranged -- Y button) depending on how you need to hit it.

Harrumph, I never paid attention to the target color before. I'll never get the chained attack achievement, I have no idea what they are talking about with the weapon changing color mid swing. I just swing away with my weapon.

Me too... I have no idea if it's because I'm using the axe or what.

You also need to do the same target color-change thing with the extra dungeon (from the LE) in bloodstone. Or was it the one in the tower? One of the extra dungeons where you get a sword at the end.

newbie questions

1. how do you check how much HP you have left?

2. does using magic use mana? or is it unlimited mana?

HP? Are you talking about the health? If so, it should show on top left corner in game if the health decreased. If it's not there, then you got 100% health.

It's unlimited "mana" in Fable II.

how do you pick up side quests?
I'm up to the part where i meet the abbot. The only side quests i've found so far are the really boring jobs to perform.

anyone find the game way too easy? unlimited mana and very minor death penalty seems to make this game a real cakewalk.

You're still early in the game. Several "side quest" will come up after you done with Abbot mission.

Yes, it's too easy game. It seems to me that Fable II is Oblivion Lite. I'm on my third character and I'm not going to use spells at all - to make the game little more harder.

Whoever described this as Medieval Sims with a quest tacked-on is exactly right. It seems like Molineux was more interested in creating a piece of software where there are all sorts of opportunities for social interaction than he was in creating a game. Which isn't to say that there's no game at all to this, but it clearly takes a back seat to learning expressions, buying up real estate, and convincing people to sleep with you.

I've killed the same man-whore in Bloodstone more than a dozen times. He just creeps me out. The risk vs. reward system in this game is severely lacking. That 200,000 gold can take you from pure evil to pure good in an instant is silly.

I just latched on to the pub games in Arcade, and I'm wondering how I can get my "winnings" imported into the game, the chest remains locked in the guild hall.

You can. Talk to a Game Master and they'll ask you if you want to merge your Arcade winnings with your Fable Character. If you do, there's a small cost (a few thousand gold, I think), then it's done and your winnings, legit or (cough) otherwise, will be absorbed into your character.

That chest in the Guild Hall is where you pick up your exclusive downloads you got from buying the LE version of the game or that you got by some other means (cough, cough).

so how many hours can you expect from this game if you do all the side quests?

So did anyone ever find out what the "penalty" was for exploiting the glitch in Pub Games? I never got it with my preorder, so I didn't try it. Just more hot air from the devs?

It's all depends. It's taking longer to build 1 million Fable money to buy Castle Fairfax and there's new quest there.

My first character that is completed - it took me about 60 hours to finish whole thing - maybe less. It took me time to look for silver keys and Garagolye (whatever it spell).

The second character was quicker because I rushed through (after I knew where keys/garagoyles are), but didn't buy two castles (I bought Mansion) - it took me about less than 30 hours.

Glitch Fixes Are Coming!

Fable II Patch Status Update
Published Wednesday, December 03, 2008 5:17 PM by Sam

Patch time is coming, to town! Ok I admit, that was pretty bad... We haven't forgotten about the patch that was promised a while ago, the team sends word that the update is coming along nicely. These are some of the fixed issues that come up the most on our forums or email but by no means is it a complete one. The update is currently being tested and finalized, so for those (few) of you having trouble, we're listening to you.

- The Ritual/Monk’s Quest – Fixed the issue with the Abbott becoming unresponsive if you leave Oakfield before he finishes talking. This will fix the problem if you’ve already hit it, too.

- Rescuing Charlie/Rescue My Baby – after rescuing Charlie, you can now able to interact with objects

- Guild Cave chest – resolves any issues with previously inability to retrieve items unlocked from Limited Collector’s Edition, website or Chicken Kickin’ game. If you’ve already hit this bug you should now get your items.

- The Spire (Pt2) – no more issues with ship captain being unresponsive

- The Hero of Skill (Pirate King) – you’ll no longer get stuck during Hero of Skill quest (Bloodstone)

- T.O.B.Y./Trouble In Bloodstone – you’ll no longer get stuck during T.O.B.Y. quests (Bloodstone)

- Your child - will no longer be chosen as an assassination target

- Furniture Shop in Albion (Bowerstone) will now always have something for sale

- Additional unspecified fixes

Held off starting this game because of some mixed reviews, and I have to say wow....much better then Fable 1, and while it has some serious flaws, top 3 game of the year....
