Dead Space

Re: Dead Space
so i am absolutely loving this game.
i have yet to NOT jump whenever a necromorph comes out to get me!
hard as hell in the initial going for me though. one necromorph i can easily handle, but two or three and i get so twisted around. trying to run away and get some distance.
i've been experimenting with the different guns. i like Line and Plasma Cutters, with plasma carrying more ammo. so trying to build plasma up from bench (trying not to use the dlc for now). i don't save and go back and play the little section so i can practice. the Pulse Rifle was good for these little buggers (like Flood spores from Halo) that seemed to swarm me. didn't really see what the Force Gun was good for.
hope i get better during the zero-g levels as well. the first got me all twisted about wondering what to do and where to put the energy modules.
all about experimenting and exploring which i am loving. just need to get better.
are you able to upgrade the number of health slots on the back on the RIG later in the game? i see in pictures from that wiki website more slots than i have currently, but didn't see where they mention health upgrades.

I could have SWORN I read that you always jump at a new necromorph last night or earlier this morning. Way longer ago that 5 minutes, at least.

i didn't remember seeing that upgrade and didn't understand why there was oxygen replenishment stations around level 2 when i didn't think the RIG had an oxygen module like the stasis module. i only picked up a small oxygen can and didn't know how to use it when in the vacuum.

Ah, ok, that explains it. At least I'm not going crazy!
As Jeremy said, go to the bench and upgrade your rig for extra O2 and HP.
Use items from the inventory screen like Med Kits, Stasis Packs, O2 Cans. It's cumbersome, but it works.

Re: Dead Space
and didn't even know that the X button when hit automatically replenishes health if you have in inventory.

Re: Dead Space
I started this for the third time last night.
I decided this time to play it on easy so it's more of an action adventure (which I enjoy) rather than a survival horror (which I do not). So far so good. The atmosphere and production values are pretty impressive, and I finally got to see some of the antigravity and kinetic stuff.
That said, the controls feel pretty clunky...somewhere between RE4 and Gears of War and wayyy below Uncharted 2.
But I'm enjoying it and WILL finish it this time! If it continues to stay consistent, I might even play through again on normal difficulty.

Clunky? really?
Remembering the mood that this game set for me and reading these new posts makes me want to go through a third time.

I just don't get that at all....I found the controls to be just about perfect for the way the game played. While Uncharted had the great climbing and stuff, I found the combat controls to be lacking. After the first 30 minutes or so with Dead Space I never felt that way.

Re: Dead Space
I don't mean to knock the game. I do like it.
The controls just feel a little bit like RE4 to me, which was amazing for its time, but feels a bit antiquated now...like I can't move as fast as I want to. At least in this case it can be attributed somewhat to the heavy suit though.

Re: Dead Space
This thread is making me want to play through a third time as well. Already finished regular and impossible modes on 360, but I like the game so much that I've been considering buying a second copy for PS3 and getting those trophies.

Re: Dead Space
i don't remember where, but i read that you can hover over a body and read the vital signs. i tried hovering over a recently deceased body and others, used every button and had no luck.
did i misread something or is it possible to do?

Re: Dead Space
Yea from the demo, RE5 really sucks control wise. Enough where Im in no rush to play this game.
I will say there is one flaw in Dead Space... a quick turn around button! Agreed?
