Re: Dead Space

You upgrade your health (and oxygen supply) in the same way that you upgrade your weapons.

i've been experimenting with the different guns. i like Line and Plasma Cutters, with plasma carrying more ammo. so trying to build plasma up from bench (trying not to use the dlc for now). i don't save and go back and play the little section so i can practice. the Pulse Rifle was good for these little buggers (like Flood spores from Halo) that seemed to swarm me. didn't really see what the Force Gun was good for.

hope i get better during the zero-g levels as well. the first got me all twisted about wondering what to do and where to put the energy modules.

all about experimenting and exploring which i am loving. just need to get better.

are you able to upgrade the number of health slots on the back on the RIG later in the game? i see in pictures from that wiki website more slots than i have currently, but didn't see where they mention health upgrades.
I'm confused. Didn't you have a post like this already? Did you delete it and repost it? I could have SWORN I read that you always jump at a new necromorph last night or earlier this morning. Way longer ago that 5 minutes, at least.

so that is through the bench, not the store, correct?

i didn't remember seeing that upgrade and didn't understand why there was oxygen replenishment stations around level 2 when i didn't think the RIG had an oxygen module like the stasis module. i only picked up a small oxygen can and didn't know how to use it when in the vacuum.

Re: Dead Space

Ah, ok, that explains it. At least I'm not going crazy!

As Jeremy said, go to the bench and upgrade your rig for extra O2 and HP.

Use items from the inventory screen like Med Kits, Stasis Packs, O2 Cans. It's cumbersome, but it works.

thanks guys. i saw pictures with more health on back, but just didn't remember that as an option with the bench. will try later.

and didn't even know that the X button when hit automatically replenishes health if you have in inventory.

Re: Dead Space

I started this for the third time last night.

I decided this time to play it on easy so it's more of an action adventure (which I enjoy) rather than a survival horror (which I do not). So far so good. The atmosphere and production values are pretty impressive, and I finally got to see some of the antigravity and kinetic stuff.

That said, the controls feel pretty clunky...somewhere between RE4 and Gears of War and wayyy below Uncharted 2.

But I'm enjoying it and WILL finish it this time! If it continues to stay consistent, I might even play through again on normal difficulty.

Re: Dead Space

Clunky? really?

Remembering the mood that this game set for me and reading these new posts makes me want to go through a third time.

I just don't get that at all....I found the controls to be just about perfect for the way the game played. While Uncharted had the great climbing and stuff, I found the combat controls to be lacking. After the first 30 minutes or so with Dead Space I never felt that way.

Re: Dead Space

I don't mean to knock the game. I do like it.

The controls just feel a little bit like RE4 to me, which was amazing for its time, but feels a bit antiquated now...like I can't move as fast as I want to. At least in this case it can be attributed somewhat to the heavy suit though.

Well what I was trying to say for what the game throws at you the controls feel perfect. That being said, they are clunky I guess, in the sense that you are slow and like you said you are in a suit. If you dropped this guy in a Call Of Duty Game, you would throw your controller through a wall (trust me I know these things) but the game puts you in situations that your movement is suited for. For me, the slower pace though added to the fun, especially when you did have a lot of enemies coming your way....

Re: Dead Space

This thread is making me want to play through a third time as well. Already finished regular and impossible modes on 360, but I like the game so much that I've been considering buying a second copy for PS3 and getting those trophies.

Re: Dead Space

i don't remember where, but i read that you can hover over a body and read the vital signs. i tried hovering over a recently deceased body and others, used every button and had no luck.

did i misread something or is it possible to do?

Re: Dead Space

I'm playing through RE5 right now and think the controls suck balls compared to Dead Space. I can't wait to play through this game again though.

Re: Dead Space

The periodic bumping of this thread must be a sign. I'll finally check this game out in the near future.

The controls for RE5 are worse than RE4 FWIW.

Re: Dead Space

Yea from the demo, RE5 really sucks control wise. Enough where Im in no rush to play this game.

I will say there is one flaw in Dead Space... a quick turn around button! Agreed?

i am not a great gamer, but i was thinking how helpful that would be as well. at least RE4 has that.

Maybe in single player...wouldn't know...but when they built it around multiplayer, they fully broke the inventory system.
