Well they did say they are going to double the releases next year, so if they put out Aerosmith and GH:WT this year, that means 4 titles next year. Metallica being confirmed but there have been rumblings of Van Halen, U2, Hendrix and now Modern Hits.

They also stated the number will triple in 2010. So roughly a new game every two months.

I will be so pissed if RB starts taking this route as well. The ACDC disc is irritating enough.

God help us all if EA tries to keep pace with Activision's release schedule.

If Harmonix wanted to maintain a shelf presence i think releasing some of the DLC as disc boosters would be fine. I think they did that for the PS2 and it gives them something on the shelf.

I just don't want to see some music only available on a disc for a higher price (like the ACDC).

^ They're already doing that. There's a Track Pack Vol 2 for the 360 and other console coming out.

It's a standalone game with 250 achievement points and at least 7 DLC (probably 20 total) songs on there. You'll likely be able to rip it to the RB2 platform. It's really just the AC/DC disc with other songs and cover art.

So while it is a way to expand into a non-network community or people who simply don't buy DLC either because they don't know or can't, it's also completely optional AND can be made into an actual extension. It increases shelf space and all that.

I think it's fine. That being said, there's no reason to think that Activision isn't capable of following the same approach with future GH discs - making them expansion packs for GH:WT. If they don't, I really believe RB is going to leave it in the dust. Anybody with the option and a brain is going to want the entire library in one session and not going to want to switch discs just to get to their favorite songs.

That i don't have an issue with as long as it is also available for direct download. For instance, i might be willing to pick up an ACDC track or two but i will not buy a disc (from Wal-Mart of all places) that may have songs i don't want on it. I would just hate to see that trend take off.

I'm with you there. The logic I've heard so far is that AC/DC doesn't want people to piecemeal their songs. They want to sell albums, hence their absence from iTunes.

HMX would have to offer the AC/DC pack as a full 18-song download on the marketplaces and not offer the tracks individually. Either they don't want to do that or the agreement with the band or label specifically precluded it in favor of pictures in the store. Maybe the deal with Wal-Mart is to blame for that instead or also.

But, I wholeheartedly agree that it isn't a good trend. As long, though, as I can import the songs into a single game, I'll find a way to live with it.

I think most of its due to AC/DC themselves. People just dont buy albums any more.
And this refusal to give people what they want is just silly. The best they can do is a live concert album? Come on. If this was an official greatest hits collection the thing would sell thru the roof.

There are just too many songs from them that all sound alike, and their fans want their greatest hits not albums and albums of filler.

Do they even have a greatest hits CD? I dont recall one.

AC/DC doesn't do greatest hits CDs. Live albums are as close as you get.

I'm a fan of AC/DC and I like lots of songs from their various albums, even if some are similar. I'd love full album downloads of Highway to Hell, Back In Black, Dirty Deads, and some others. Most of their songs may have a similar sound, but I don't think most of them are filler.

Well my copy of Rock Revolution is Shipping Soon from Amazon. Should be interesting to see what this is like.

I'm still debating if I should let my PS3 game only pre-order of RB2 stand or get it locally. Since it comes out Sunday, I think Amazon won't ship until Monday.

How hard was it to find RB2 for 360 on its Sunday release? Did you have to go early?

You should have no problems finding it. All the cool kids already have it on the 360 anyway

So someone on another forum I frequent got Rock Revolution yesterday. He said that by the end of the day, there were a whopping 6 people on the Career Leaderboards on the 360. That means that only six people played the game while on Live.

Talk about a monumental flop!

My main concern is, when RB1 came out, it seemed like stores were stocking the 360 version of the full band kit 10 to 1 to the PS3 version. Then again, the game only version (which I'm getting) wasn't available same day IIRC.

If I did my math correctly, does that mean there will be a negative number of people playing it on the PS3?

Maybe I'll be the only one.

Actually the PS3 game only was out a month before the instruments/bundle. With no cross compatibility on the instruments on the PS3, it was quite funny to see it sitting there languishing on the shelf.

Thanks AC/DC for telling me what best for me as a fan.

Im a fan. Seen them live. But their early stuff up thru the 80's is what most fans desire and there needs to be a collection to get their primo stuff on one collective CD,DVD, or download.

A greatest hits is not a "piecemeal" album if thats their argument. So its about money. They get more money off and album sale than a single. Did it ever occur to them if they put out a greatest hits album that that album would rake in the $$$$$$?

How about a nice boxed set then? Some sort of anthology? Why cant they do this?

Live albums just dont cut it. They seem to be stuck in 1976 on this notion.
