Re: XBLA Thread Part thrizzee (3)
Here is an update
Marketplace issues - the issue is understood, however the resolution is complicated. While I have seen some great suggestions in the blog about how to quickly resolve this, we are having to do this in a rather time intensive way. I know I am taking a big risk in this crowd by suggesting an ETA, but we are reasonably confident we will have this working within about 2 hours, so by 8:45pm Pacific.

Well, Pixy can rest comfortable tonight. I'm sure any sales analysis for this week's games will be completely useless.

Rocket Riot feels like a blast. I'll probably get that if a few others do too.
Magic grew on me after I re-learned the game. I'll wait for a few reviews from here first.
Sam & Max did nothing for me. Actually worries me for Monkey Island's interface.

Tried Rocket Riot and loved it. Bought it right away.
Magic, I still don't totally get, but I do like that they give you good hand-holding through the process. I figure if 12 year old kids can undersand this, a 40 year old postgraduate professional will eventually pick it up as well. Besides, I'll always support a well-made 800 point game in the arcade. I bought it as well.
It seems like you're supposed to get a bonus foil card when you buy the game, but the code generator didn't work. Anyone know what you're supposed to do now?

It's weird playing an organized game of Magic. (the last time I played about 10 years ago, it was an unorganized mess hahah)
Pretty solid implementation though, from what I've played.
Decker -> Simple game, you get Land/"Mana", you use the Mana to cast spells/summon creatures, you attack with the creatures and/or block with them, and the goal is to get the Player's life down to 0 (which is what happens when they don't or cannot block your attacks.)
The casting costs are on the cards - 6 (Tree) (Tree) for instance means 8 Mana -- at least 2 must be trees. The bottom right of the card has the creature's Attack / Life (6 / 5 being 6 damage is dealt when it attacks, and it has 5 life).
There are a lot of small details but nothing too insane, you'll pick it up after a couple games.
...and I just finally saw Evil Dead II last weekend.

Very solid presentation. The rare game that caters to both the long-time experienced player and the newbie. It's nice to see such care put into an XBLA game. And to price it at a reasonable price point is even more impressive.

I'm sure they'll milk it with cards down the line. And yeah, I've only played through once but it seems you wind up hitting the Y/"Continue" button a lot to move things along.
I agree though, I thought it would be a completely bare bones port, but overall they did a very nice job with it.

Yup, you're correct. I'm half asian, but you'd never know it judging by my math skills

I tried the demos of Rocket Riot and Magic last night, and ended up buying both. I skipped on Sam and Max since I've already played those on the PC. The PC versions were awesome, so I might just check out the demo to see how the XBLA version compares.

I actually couldn't get in to Rocket Riot. I like the art style and I think that part of the fun with xbla is the 8/16 bit type games. I see why people like this game just not me.

I'm really hooked on the MTG game. The decks may get old after awhile without the ability to make your own or truly customize them, but the fact that you have to take each deck through each person to unlock all the cards is going to be a long haul and tons of gameplay. I think I already got my $10 worth last night.
