Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum

I meant slow in regards to the combat. And I'm suspicious of any stealth game where I cant jump/leap out of the way.

Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum

I jumped and leaped out of the way plenty of times, or "grapple-hooked" my way out anyways.
And the combat is more about countering than it is about leaping out of the way - it is Batman after all, he's not one to jump out of the way.

I was hoping there was a way to make the camera permantely like that, its annoying when trying to do a detective search, etc. as you can't run while standing still.

I guess that's cool. Still don't really see the appeal of Home though.

Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum

Come on, it's the Batcave! Don't worry, I won't actually leave it. Just like in real life.

Unless, that is, you could actually dress up as Batman and beat up users who cheat at games online. Or if you could dress up like The Joker and kill other users indiscriminately. If that were the case, Home would really be worth using.

Looks cool but no way in hell am I gonna bother with Home just for that. They should have made it an extra feature in the game proper similar to how Lego Batman used the Batcave as the game's main hub.

Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum

The only bad part about this being one of the few games to come out this summer is the large amount of attention this game is getting. It looks like a great game, but all this attention is getting my hopes up, and that usually means disappointment in the end. PLEASE BE AS GOOD AS THE BUZZ!!!

Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum

I got excited playing the demo and pre-orders on amazon.. After a week of posts & thinking about it I canceled.
I'll wait and get it for under $30. I think its going to be to repetitive. If everyone has guns - how many ways can Bat's take'em down??

Call me sick, but in one of the fist fights I did the triangle attack and spun around and kicked a guy in the nuts!!

Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum

This is a minor gripe I know, but anyone else not a fan of the slow motion stuff at all (during combat)?

I just think the whole "Matrix" type slow motion is played out.

the camera also centers when batman is crouched (moving or not). frankly, i didn't even notice the off-center camera angle that bothers you guys.

Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum

the demo definitely whetted my appetite for the game. it's certainly not perfect but any gripes i have are very minor. for the first time ever, i feel like i'm playing a Batman game where i'm actually doing things like Batman would rather than just running around throwing batarangs and punching at hordes of bad guys. i especially loved stringing up a henchman on a gargoyle.

i'm hopeful that even after completing the full game, there will be cool things to explore throughout the asylum.

Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum

I finally got around to downloading the demo last night. I've got my share of issues with what I saw, but overall it looked like a decent game. From what little I've played, I'd anticipate review scores to fall within the low to mid 7s.

Finally was able to get a pre-order of AA for my price point (under $10 ) thanks to cheap trade-ins ... now looking forward to reading all the hype over the next week and a bit without feeling jealous!
