I picked up the hardcover GOTY guide from Walmart today for $26. Now to price match Target price at BB.

Picked up my copy from BB yesterday with a Target PM with no hassle.

YMMV though.

There really shouldn't be a problem with any of bb stores. It clearly states in store only on the target ad. I thought all Best Buys PM?

Is the guide worth it? I always just go to gamefaqs if I get stuck.

Just came from Best Buy and they price matched. With my $5 GC the total came to a sweet $35 before tax

I used a guide for Oblivion and didn't regret it at all. The Fallout 3 guide is around 500 pages long. A lot easier to have by your side than the computer.

I actually got the guide but didn't use it too much. You really don't need a guide much in this kind of games.
However, if you really like using guides, this one of the best guides any game can have. I've checked some missions pages and they are very good. Of course I checked them after playing the game for more than 100 hours.

Btw, in case you don't know, they are releasing a new guide that includes all the DLC.

They should, but some people on CAG have been denied, so I'd still say it's still a YMMV situation (since it isn't really a traditional flyer ad I guess), but most stores seem to have no problem with this one.

Yep, I got the one that covers all the DLC. I was planning to start the game with one of the DLC missions. I need to get some cash first. I need to stock up on health packs and ammo before I venture off to far.

Re: The Fallout 3 Thread Of Exploding Teddy Bears

Quick question for everyone, and I'm sorry if this already got covered in the thread. I just got Fallout 3, not the GOTY edition. If I wanna upgrade to the GOTY edition will my save file (i'm about 20 hours in) work properly with the new version?

Re: The Fallout 3 Thread Of Exploding Teddy Bears

I believe there's no difference in the original game and disc 1 of the GOTY edition. GOTY just contains a 2nd disc with all the DLC... on the 360, at least. Just occurred to me that the PS3 GOTY edition is one disc and you might be asking about that. I would guess that's a safe thing to do.

Re: The Fallout 3 Thread Of Exploding Teddy Bears

There were some initial reports in the PS3 side that the GOTY edition wasn't recognizing the old save files. Bethesda was working on that, I don't know if they have released a patch yet. Also, I think this issue wasn't affecting all people...

If you have the Xbox version you should be fine.

My old saves have worked since day one of the release. That was my main concern of buying this version as I didn't want to start all over and I didn't have to.

Re: The Fallout 3 Thread Of Exploding Teddy Bears

Finished The Pitt last night. Lots of good fun.
Spoiler:
I ended up siding with Ashur. I'm curious what would have happened had I taken the cure and killed all the Slavers. Maybe I'll reload a previous saved game and try it again.

edit: Started on Point Lookout...
Spoiler:
Holy crap, this is hard. I must have died about 30 times in the mansion. Just when I thought I was almost done (in the basement), I got attached by a bunch of Tribals. I think part of my problem is that I'm only at Level 21, because these bastards are hard to kill with all the weapons I've got. Ugh.

I also just started Point Lookout. I'm digging the whole "Deliverance" feel to it.

I agree though...tough. Like, really tough.

Those hicks are no joke.

I think that I got too used to being able to just roam DC with Fawkes at my side.

I started a fresh game and fully stumbled into the mothership. Really looking forward to checking out more of the DLC.

Re: The Fallout 3 Thread Of Exploding Teddy Bears

Point Lookout doesn't do much about the lack of diversity of enemies in the game - tribals, swamplurks, swamp ghouls, and Ruzka are almost identical to their Capital Wasteland counterparts. I had a blast in the mansion, though. My favorite part in the whole game. I had to get to get rid of the double-barrel shotgun since I can't take sound it makes during V.A.T.S... like nails on chalkboard, and the fact that has less V.A.T.S. rounds than the Combat Shotgun.

This DLC is buggy as shit. I've had at least 4 times now where it's just froze (most of the time involving V.A.T.S. targeting).

Just wish I could figure out how to repair the T-51B - none of the other armor types I pick up (tesla, enclave, outcast power armor) are compatible with it for repairs. Hopefully the standard brotherhood armor is compatible because I'm already down to 42 DR from the original 50.
I am loving this game!!

About the above I just followed him into the next area and when no one was around killed him at took everything back.
