Hold both shoulder buttons and X (or is it Y) at the same time from the moment you load the game til you press start. This clears the games (yes it has it's own) cache. This is different from the 360 cache clearing.
The game saves all the time, and it's a huge world, so constant play will eventually lead to freezes and stutters. Happened to me, and the cache clearing fixed it.
Oh and it's verified to work by Bethesda.

Another thanks from me...didn't realize there were any "hold this button to do this" commands in the controls. Discovered the PipBoy flashlight thanks to your tip as well.
I suppose it was in the manual, but it would've made too much sense to read it there.

Only one side quest left (Reilly's Rangers) before tackling the final main quest. I found all of the bobbleheads! The most challenging Quest was the Nukem Cola one but that was partly my fault:
Luckily finding the bottles helped with finding the bobbleheads and getting the located 100 places achievement. I can't wait for the expansions! There are still a lot of doors/safes I couldn't try because I wasn't at level 100 in lockpicking.

Yeah I went back and did that for the 8 and 14 ones too. Pretty easy to go from good to neutral and then bad by just killing people in Megaton (and maybe stealing a bit but that's pretty slow) as long as I had a quarter or level or so (so I didn't level before I got there).
It's interesting seeing the way people progress through the game. I did Reilly's Rangers about 6 levels ago, but I haven't even encountered NukaCola yet.

You can get one of the good followers early (the better one in my opinion, the other was always getting lost when I had him plus he talks too much) if you can manage to get to the mall area and live, which if you can get to Rivet City should be not too bad (you end up with a shotgun on the way to Rivet City most likely, which is very helpful against super mutants).
Dogmeat is really more of a liability, second time through I got him and just left him in my house since the first time through I had to reload so often due to his death.

Spoiler:
Also, that particular follower requires either a pretty high speech skill or a bunch of caps, which is a bit tough early on, but I guess it's doable.
I'm surprised some of you got all the bobbleheads before doing the main plot. One in particular seems really hard to get if you don't do the main plot in that area first.

Spoiler:
I still haven't started the main quests, and I'm at about 60 hours of play time.
I'm level 13, and have all of the SPECIAL bobbleheads and 3 or 4 of the others.I'm guessing since I'll be at such high levels, I'll have a tougher time with the enemies in the main quests?

Is the one you're thinking about in
? I think he, along with Dogmeat, doesn't care what karma you have... in addition to them, there are two good, two bad, and two neutral followers. I think you can have any two plus dogmeat at one time.
Also, that particular follower requires either a pretty high speech skill or a bunch of caps, which is a bit tough early on, but I guess it's doable.

I don't see how it's even possible to get ALL the bobbleheads without advancing the main plot, but I guess I've never tried to get at that one you're thinking of without advancing to that part of the plot so it could be. The first time through, I advanced the plot just enough to get Fawkes (actually accidentally got to the end but I always have tons of saves) and then played the game about another 40 hours or so doing everything else.

My game is freezing up, and the cache clearing thing isn't working. I have to shut down and restart the Xbox. Now I can't even play for ten seconds. Take five steps and total lockup.
Any help out there? I've been playing since release, so I don't have my receipt anymore.
And its not the system itself, I've been playing Dead Space all day with not a problem.

Yeah, that's the one bobblehead I haven't even tried to get before I get to that part in the story. I'm not even sure what happens if you go there before you get past a certain point in the game... can you just slaughter everyone?
I think the extra perks at high levels more than make up for the increase in difficulty with some of the monsters (ie: mirelurk kings instead of normal mirelurks, master mutants instead of regular ones, etc.). Plus the special weapons. Man I wish I had made it a point to get most of the special weapons earlier on, especially the ones that use regular ammo.
In particular, the Action Boy/Girl and Cyborg perks at level 14, better criticals at 16, and especially Grim Reaper at Level 20 (though I know you can only pick one level 20 perk, so some may choose something else) are awesome for anyone that uses VATs.
In addition, if you go wandering around you should have a ton more ammo and weapons, and either power armor available or the awesome rangers armor. And Ledoux's Hockey Mask.
And if all else fails, just "cheat" and lower the difficulty... once you max out your levels, there's no point in added experience...

I was wandering around the wasteland yesterday, and came upon a scene where 4-5 raiders were teasing/making fun of a half naked man. At first, I thought they were torturing a civilian or slave or what not, but the half naked man was a raider as well. So they didn't even pay attention to me as I sneaked up, and lobbed in a frag grenade to end their party in VATS mode.
slow mo, grenade right in the middle of the circle. BOOM. Bodies go up and out.
It was great.

You can also get Chiron anytime (at least anytime you have 2000 gold). Just to see if it was possible, I got him last night at level 4 (basically I got up to level 4 in the process of getting to him and getting enough stuff for 2000 gold).

I just started this bad boy - so far so good! I was supposed to meet some junkie kid near the water tower at night to smack some sense into him, but couldn't find him. Perhaps I went to the wrong tower. Oh well - i'm liking it so far

I wonder if anything can kill Fawkes? Nice guy to have around with his weapon and unlimited ammo. Dogmeat died a couple hours after I picked him up (no great loss).
I don't think you need negative karma for Jericho (dialog options seemed to be there for positive, but I never tried since I didn't want him).
Thanks for the heads up for the bobblehead in Megaton. For some reason, I don't always check folks houses in towns (I guess opening the door for his wouldn't be red like some of the others). Didn't get the one in Raven Rock either I don't think - probably too late to go back for it now. Speaking of which - if you go there before the story quest, can you enter the archives? I couldn't get in the doors once the explosions started.
Right now I'm exploring every spot on the map now that I got "Explorer". Once I do everything I can - I'll finish up the main quest. Hopefully I'll have just about all the bobbleheads by then.
BTW, just for the record - pick up every single "prewar book" you find - that's probably the biggest moneymaker/weight item in the game (except maybe fingers and that's karma dependant) - the geomodule mapping function is pretty handy too (and essentially weightless) but that's also quest dependent.
Lockpicking generally gives you 3 tries before the pick snaps. Sometimes you might just want to try rotating from the vertical position, then one way or the other. Took a bit of getting used to but not too bad now. I've got hacking and lockpicking down at the very hard level.

There's more of it around.
If memory serves...
There's a building with a guy outside that will buy "technology" from you (it'll be a location on your map). By whatever means necessary, get inside that building and head to the basement. There you will find 40-50 more rounds.

Found a few other stockpiles last night. I think Ft. Baxter had some and Wheaton armory might have had some (or maybe just .308 and sniper rifles - requires very hard hacking skill).
edit. read original post just now - originally thought you guys were still talking about .44 ammo.

Oh yeah, a nifty little bonus - some of you have probably already noticed it. Every time you buy a house theme "upgrade" from Moira (she always has at least 1500 caps when I shop with her) - check out everything in the house - good way to get bonus ammo for some types of weapons as well as certain weapons, "tradeable" food items and weapons manufacturing parts. Then switch house types and there'll be a different selection of bonus goodies included.
I gotta check my map again, but I found one place a little while ago that was a veritable stockpile of weapon parts. Multiples of practically everything needed for every weapon (+ workbench) with the exception of the actual deathclaw hand and maybe one other piece.

Fawkes can die.
I was exploring a transmission tower, and it seems he falled or something like that. I just received a message saying that he was dead. Of course I reloaded.
