Doh, hit by the save bug again. I was finishing "shoot 'em in the head" and I left the underground too soon, and the guy disappeared, so I couldn't get the keys back.

I could have went a ways back, but didn't really feel like it. I think I am only missing out on some Armor, which I don't need.

Now I think I have agata, and the main quest left as majors. I don't know if I will go get all bobbleheads, or make that a goal for my next character.

If i start over now, will all I lose on this character be the autosaves? The manual saves will still exist, or are those gone too?

I am not sure if I want to spend more time with my LVL 20, since any XP I get now is wasted. If they expand the levels with the add-ons, then I kind of wasted a bunch of work.

I have really enjoyed that while wandering through the wastelands, one less thing to worry about.
I thought of taking it, but the animals are so easy to kill, it's not worth it. If it kept Deathclaws at bay, it might be something I'd pick up, though.

Speaking of Deathclaws, does anybody know where I can find a deathclaw gauntlet schematic?

It is the last weapon I need to make for the achievement.

Finally getting more time to play this. About 6 hours in and having a hell of a time. I think next time I level up I'm putting all my skill into my primary weapon skill. Everything is around 35 right now.

When I played the fist 10 or so levels were tough, yet the most interesting. After LVL 15 or so, it felt too easy. Next game I am going to play at a normal difficulty.

When I played, I brought the 3 main skills to 50 right away, and also took the perk where you got 3 extra points to place each level. It really helped, as I think I have 5-7 skills in the 90+ range.

I am kind of disappointed at the perks available in the LVL 16+ sets (not counting 20).

Spoiler:
In the SW corner of the map is the F. Scott Key Trail & Campground. At that site, there is a broken down old RV. There's a copy of the schematic in the RV, and a nice obliging Deathclaw ready to ... wait for it ... lend you a hand.

Just started playing this again after about a month hiatus...just a few hours in. I love some of the one-liners, "I had a fun party with some Raiders. Then a guard robot jumped out of a cake."

There's only 20 levels? Drat. I'm like 1/3 of the way there then, as far as skills are concerned.

It did help (a lot) that I upgraded my main weapon skill. It's now in the 60s and I can kill opponents much quicker. It still seems like I'm a huge wuss and I can't even hang out in the Cemetery. Good game though.

I'm 70 hours in the game. Level 15. I'm a saint.

I think it will be my first official 100+ hrs game.

Wow, I don't really understand how so many of you play for so long, and don't level.

I think I was maxed around hour 40, and that is without actively seeking any XP.

I am in a rush now to wrap up some achievements (bobbleheads) so I can start over with a new (evil) character.

I finished this with about 60 hours of playing and loaned it to a friend. I'm starting to jones for it a bit. I was a complete saint my first go-round and I really want to go back through and be a complete bastard to see how much changes. It's pretty rare for me to want to replay a game so soon after beating it, let alone one of this size and scope. Kudos to Bethesda for doing a great job.

A bit of advice to those on their first play-through, I wouldn't level anything up to 100/100 until you've got the relevant bobbleheads. I maxed my small guns and lockpick skills before getting the bobbleheads for them, so those extra points were wasted.

Maybe it's considered cheating, but is there a map or at least list of what bobbleheads are where?

There's a list and map in the game guide book. This game's big enough that I don't consider using a guide for some item hunting to be cheating. I think I found 11 or 12 of the bobbleheads dicking around on my own and then used the guide for the rest. Looking at gamefaqs, it looks like this walkthrough has 13 of the bobbleheads listed:

This is the first game when I buy a guide. The guide is huge!
I'm not using it for help to complete the quests but to find places, I'm always checking the big map that's included.

It was my longest game, too.

Thanks, that helped a lot. Now I know what seemingly useless items to keep also - vacuum cleaners? Pressure cookers?

Another question: When I'm talking to somebody, sometimes there will be a word in parentheses before one of the response choices. I've seen (Intelligence) and (Perception) so far, that I remember. What does this mean?

Those are special conversation choices made available because whatever stat is in parentheses is high enough. They're basically like a Speech check, but with no possibility of failure.

Yeah, I was confused for a bit as to why there were like 5 different kinds of clipboards!

WTF??? Here I am, cruising along, never looked at any spoilers/guides, and pow!!!...
Spoiler:
The game ends!!!??? Had I known that the Project Purity level was the last, I surely wouldn't have done it yet. I was only level 14, hardly did any sidequests, only discovered 25 locations...WTF??? I stilll had a ton of achievements to get, lol. I guess I have to start a new game?

Whew, done ranting.

That's one major complaint I've heard. I like some linearity, as in, I have a destination or a goal in mind (or multiple destinations/goals, where I can choose which one to proceed on, like Oblivion or F3), but a game like this, though the main "story" can end, I'd like for it to either warn me if it'll complete the game, or let me continue to wander/explore/pursue other quests. Or just kill Super Brutes. The gameplay is so good in some games I don't want it to end (FFT on PS1, I spent hours not advancing the story at all, just fighting and advancing my stats/classes.)
I have found virtually nothing so if I replay I might be evil and use a guide to get bobblers and books and take advantage of stuff I find.

At least in Oblivion you could still play the game after you finished the main storyline. This game has taken me on a rollercoaster ride of emotions...first I hated it, then absolutely loved it, only to be castrated at the apex of enjoyment. *sigh*.

Can't you load a save from right before you started on the final quest?

Actually,
Spoiler:
when I came through the door at the rotunda, I had to fight that one guy (I forget his name). Well, I was out of stimpaks and had very little life, but I hard saved after I killed him so I wouldn't have to do it again. After the game ended, I went back to that hard save and tried to go out the door to avoid running the purifier, but both doors are locked. When I loaded the autosave, it was right before I fought the guy, so instead of killing him, I tried running out the door like a screaming little girl, but it says they were locked behind me and cannot be accessed. The only other hard save that I have is from when I was level 3...11 friggin' levels ago.

I really didn't see it coming because when I looked through the achievements via my 360 profile, it has a ton of "complete this level" achievements after the purifier one. Maybe if the purifier achievement said "Finish main storyline and die" I would've caught it.
