I can't wait for this game. I haven't followed the news in about a month or so...any new gameplay videos up for the game?

If I am buying a system because of this game is there one system that is much better than the others for this game?

360. More streamlined, easier to delete stuff from memory, Live, bigger community, etc...

This. Although with instrument compatibility definitely levels the playing field a bit. If you go 360 you will also be able to pick up GHII, which you can't on the PS3.

360 has RROD, which is enough for me NOT to recommend. Have to pay for Live Gold. PS3 has blu ray(best blu ray player on the market now), no critical problems like the 360, free community, more advanced game engine and a great media center all in one. Just IMO.

360 -> Substantially cheaper (granted you don't buy Microsofts overpriced Wireless Adapater), easier management, better online community (though it's $40 every 13 months for Gold, that said Leaderboards and Friend communication are part of Silver and thats all I care about.), better instrument compatibility, excellent media center (Plays divx/xvid, high definition WMV files, etc; plus it works as a WM Extender which is nice)... RROD is a concern but is covered for 3 years by MS.

$259 (20gb model) + Rock Band 2 Bundle ($199) = around $460

PS3 -> Free online community, excellent media center, Bluray player.

$399 (80gb model, no BC) + Rock Band 2 Bundle ($199) = around $600

I like both, but if you aren't going to be watching Blu-ray, go with the 360.

I have both systems and I enjoy both. But the paying for Live as a negative is just incorrect. It is a few dollars a month and in the PS3's case, you get what you pay for when it comes to the internet aspect.

And RROD? That is an issue. I am on my second 360. But this time I bought a $50 simple trade in insurance plan from BB and that is now a non issue.

Sorry to rant here but what MS is doing here is almost criminal. They are building a known defective product and selling it with a band aid to consumers. And you tolerate it. Im not picking on your decision but what MS is doing and has done is nonsense.

Why is this an acceptable business practice now?

Honestly, I don't care. My launch lasted three years. I sent it in for free to be replaced and I immediately sold it and upgraded to a larger model and a better replacement program at a cost of $50.

Criminal? Only if the product wasn't the best in the market.

XBOX Live, the controller, achievements, user interface, games, etc....XBOX is superior.

For most of us, the pros outweigh the cons, and as with everything in life, that's all that matters.

I probably won't tolerate it if the Xbox Surface or whatever comes out in a couple years has the same issue, but for the here and now, I don't care.

I did the same thing. The RROD problem is mostly fixed at this point, and if it happens to you they'll fix it for free for at least three years from time of purchase.

That being said, each system has it's strengths and weaknesses. I have both, but use my PS3 as a Blu Ray player and play all my games on the 360. That's just personal preference.

MULTI-PLATINUM ROCK LEGEND TED NUGENT TO BRING KILLER RIFFS AND AN EPIC GUITAR DUEL TO GUITAR HERO® WORLD TOUR

See video here: http://www.scorehero.com/liveblog/Gu...Trailer_HD.wmv

Santa Monica, CA – September 11, 2008–

Multi-platinum guitar icon, best-selling author and outspoken activist, Ted Nugent will lend his voice and likeness to Activision Publishing, Inc.’s Guitar Hero® World Tour, joining the all-star cast of rock legends to be featured in the game including Jimi Hendrix, Ozzy Osbourne and Sting. Aspiring axe shredders will be able to challenge The Nuge in an epic guitar duel, tear up the six string as the music icon’s in-game character or jam alongside the Motor City Madman as he rocks his 1975 smash hit “Stranglehold.” Recognized as the world's leading guitar showman, Nugent's no-holds-barred career spans five decades of multi-platinum sales exceeding 35 million albums.

When the house lights go down this fall, a new generation of guitarists, drummers and fearless frontmen will come together and rock with Guitar Hero World Tour. The latest installment in the #1 best-selling video game franchise of 2007, Guitar Hero World Tour transforms music gaming by expanding Guitar Hero’s signature guitar gameplay into a cooperative band experience that combines the most advanced wireless controllers with new revolutionary online* and offline gameplay modes including Band Career and 8-player “Battle of the Bands,” which allows two full bands to compete head-to-head online for the first time ever. The game features a slick newly redesigned guitar controller, drum kit controller and a microphone, as well as an innovative Music Studio music creator that lets players compose, record, edit and share their own rock ‘n’ roll anthems. Music creators will also be able to share their recordings with their friends online through GHTunes(SM) where other gamers can download and play an endless supply of unique creations.

Guitar Hero World Tour is being developed by Neversoft Entertainment for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system. The Wii™ version is being developed by Vicarious Visions. The PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system version is being developed by Budcat. The game is rated “T” for Teen by the ESRB. Ted Nugent on a buffalo FTW

Kelkee 09-11-08 10:19 AM

That vid was awesome.

Now if we can also get Cat Scratch Fever imported off Aerosmith or as DLC that would be even better.

 Nice touch!

The divide between what GH is trying to do and what RB is trying to is widening. GH sure is following this "Legends of Rock" idea by bring actual, known rockstars in to do their bits.

I wish everything could come together under one banner.

Definitely. That's why I'm more pumped for GH:WT. Not for the digital versions of the rockers, but for the bands they've got in their corner.

On one side you have Hendrix, Osbourne, the Eagles, Nugent, Van Halen, Wings, Bob Seger, Satriani, Tool and Michael Jackson vs. AC/DC, the Who, Bob Dylan & ... ummm... yeah Norman Greenbaum on the RB side.

Disclaimer: I'm sure both will be fun, and I'm buying both. :)

Kelkee 09-11-08 11:10 AM

Yup. Being able to play as or with your rock idols just adds to the experience.

I wonder who else they are keeping a secret they have already mo-capped?

http://www.scorehero.com/liveblog/

Has a ton of new information and screenshots.

One thing I am disappointed about, is apparently they ripped out the drum intro for Hot For Teacher and replaced it will a Drum "Freestyle", weak!

There's also drum sustains. Which basically give you cymbal rolls, or drum rolls. In order to keep it going, you have to keep the hitting fairly fast, about 3 times per second.
This sounds kind of lame if they are replacing all normal rolls with these sustains.

Between these sorts of changes and stuff like the overly complicated of the Rock Meter, it sounds like they are messing with way too many different things. I hope in the end everything works great, but I just don't have the faith that Neversoft can pull everything off.

That said, at least GHWT has the ability to set Hyperspeed on a Per Instrument basis (and at different speeds) along with different difficulty scroll speeds at the same time. That is something Harmonix has yet to do, and is pretty annoying.

Agreed, but to be fair, I think the 260 beats per minute go a little beyond the capabilities of the drum kit. That's 715 notes hit per minute!!!11one

But think of how much fun it would be to try and FC that!

I'd rather it be dumbed down than completely taken out.

Huh? In Rock Band each instrument can choose its own difficulty level. Are you referring to something else?

Michael Corvin 09-11-08 06:24 PM

 Have you not visited the Rock Band thread lately?

Umm, yes. "Different difficulty scroll speeds. In Rock Band it does some averaging nonsense so everyone has the same scroll speed. So if someone is playing on Expert and the other person is playing on Easy, it does something in between the two for both players.

Ahh, ok, i think i got you.

So, in Rock Band, if i choose Easy on guitar and my wife chooses Expert Drums then we would each get the proper note chart (mine just being 3 colors and hers being crazy fast) but mine would scroll faster than if i was playing alone and hers would scroll slower than if she was alone?

If that is correct, it is definitely weird and sounds like something begging to be fixed.

Yes, that is correct. I guess we can hope for it being changed in Rock Band 3.

I've played expert drums while one of my kids played easy guitar and it's a royal PITA. Play it solo or with my son that plays expert guitar and it's just the normal way it should be.

Huh? Unless you are all working off the same fretboard why would they even consider doing this?
